I'm signed into PSN, but when I try to race online now, i get 'the network is offline' message. I was racing ok online earlier, left to do some seasonals, now the message. Anyone else have this problem? Online dealer & seasonals still working ok.

lol at the comments in this thread about anonymous, those guys will be keeping a low profile for some time I'd expect, hoping not to run into any disgruntled PSNers. The law will get them in the end, no doubt, there's always a price to pay.

🤬 yeah booyah baby, PSN back up in NZ... Ohhhh you little 14 year olds on bad company you little 🤬 better be watching out, i got a month worth of rage waiting you.

If NZ is up then Aussie is up too. Gtfo outta this thread and onto PSN yea baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Started up the PS3 for the first time today, up came a message about changing the password, changed password, woo hoo!!!

Then started up Shift 2, ran through the online login etc etc, and the Autolog icon came up, woo hoo!!!

Then tried to use my online pass, and got... a message saying the service is under maintenance.

So not all services are up yet.

Called PS Hotline for 2nd time today, got a more knowledgeable person this time. He's told me the following which will clear the air for the people regarding whether they are able to reset their passwords or not:

If you have download anything from the PSN Store you'll be able to reset instantly. If not, then it will direct you to the "email is being sent to (insert email address here)" page and then you will be waiting for up to 24 hours.

Bummer for me, I wanted to play tonight but this guy said if I've passed 24hrs, then call them up because it will be a lot quieter and he'll be able to do it a lot faster. So stop calling everyone else, I want my password!! :P

Ah, that makes my situation make sense now.👍 I was able to change my password on the PS3 on my main account (I've used the store) but it said I had to wait for an email to change my password on my GTP account (I haven't used the store on this account), I guess I'll just have to wait for the email.:)

I've been waiting 2 hours now for my Email.

I hope that post above that says 'waiting for up to 24 hours' is just the max possible wait.

Not happy with this.

To add to what has already been said re. email password resets.

You will need to do this ONLY if the account has never been used to purchase PS Store content.

It doesn't matter if it is the same PS3 as the account was originally on. Equally it doesn't appear to matter if the content was purchased on a now defunct PS3 as long as the content has been re-downloaded from the PS Store on the new machine.

I had an old fat PS3 that I no longer use for PSN (3.55 FTW!) that was used to download PS Store content (GTAIV:BofGT and GTAIV:LaD). When I transferred my account and all of my content to my slim PS3 I re-downloaded both of these but have NOT purchased anything on the new slim. On this account, on the slim, I only had to enter a new password on the PS3 itself.

On my other halfs account we had to try and login on the PS3.

This then generated a message saying password no longer valid. The next screen confirmed an email address and that an email had been sent.

This email was received immediately (not sure why some are waiting, are you sure the email address is correct?) and included a link which opened in a new window that asked us to enter the text from an image. This page to awhile to load.

After entering the text from the image we were asked to enter and confirm a new password (which must be 8-16 characters long and contain a combination of alpha and numeric characters).

We tried to do this last night and it kept timing out but this morning it is working fine.

[Edit - these are UK accounts.]

I'm online... :D
Not much hassle. Just had to swap to 2nd account to download the update then changed password on primary account.
Now gimme some goodies for pretending to care about not being able to play... :sly:

Same for me, had to change the password for my main account directly on PS3 and for my 2 sub accounts received the mails quasi instantly after changing the password on my PC ;)

👍

Don't know what all the fuss is about...

Yes, as has been explained before, the up to 24 hours is simply there to stop people contacting their support because they've not received the e-mail within minutes. It's an automated system, but it doesn't mean that it is always within minutes.

I wonder if anybody else is having this same problem with accounts from countries with no PSN Stores...

I have two PSN Accounts:

-1 US account (the one I use for purchasing DLC) - psw reseted ok directly through the PS3. (Unfortunately not an account I use for GT5).
- 1 Argentine account (My GTP tag account). While trying to log in, I get a message indicating I will receive an email with a psw reset link to be accesed via PC. When I click on that link, I get this message: "PlayStation®Store is not available in the selected country or region."

I´m a bit worried about this, as it seems not to be a place where I could reach even when the PSN gets fully restored, because argentine accounts simply can´t login to the store...

Somebody out there with the same issue?

What email provider are you using t_w_a_h?

I've got a hotmail account and am still waiting for the email?

Answered via pm. :)

Good luck to those suffering email issues.

I would try again during off peak hours. Gamers tend not to be early risers and it worked a-okay for me this morning after getting timeouts last night.

Keep in mind the email is only valid for three hours from the time it is "sent". As a rule the sent time and date is generated with a universal offset by the senders outgoing mail server so excessive delays at your email providers end could be problematic.

UK email text:

Dear <name>,
To reset your PlayStation(R)Network password, please click on the link below. This link will expire in 3 hours from the time that it was sent. The link will direct you to a PlayStation(R)Network web page and allow you to enter and confirm your new password.

I could only download the update yesterday since I still got the maintenance message but this morning I logged in, changed my password and played a couple rounds in MW2 and BOps. I figure it must be fully operational now. Barbados and the other islands in the Caribbean were probably near the bottom of the list. We were probably only ahead of places like North Korea and Antarctica. Still it's good to be back online.
