I've cancelled my credit card in the first week of the first outage, and removed it immediately last Sunday when I was online. Just in case. If I ever purchase again, it will be one time one shot deals. or by phone via codes.

I'll be using the pre-loaded PSN cards you can get from Wal-Mart.

Everything still working fine for me. Any word on when the store is coming back online?
Barring any additional problems, Sony plans to bring the PlayStation Store back online next Tuesday, May 24, according to a memo sent to Sony's game developer and publishing partners.

The company has sent a tentative publishing schedule to partners detailing when their games, expansions and other releases will become available to players. In the memo, obtained by Gamasutra, Sony unveils plans to do two content pushes per week for the next two weeks to catch up with the backlog of content.

"We thank you for your patience as we work to resume service of the PlayStation Store," wrote PSN content manager Jack Osorno to developer partners.

The first push, set to coincide with the PlayStation Store's reopening, will distribute content that was originally scheduled to publish on April 26. Three days later on the 27th, another round of games will go live, which were originally scheduled for May 3.

The following week, pushes will take place on May 31 and June 3, using content that originally had been planned to be spread over three weeks. At that point, the company will be back on schedule and, presumably, return to a single content push per week.

That's a lot of pushes. Sounds like the build up to a difficult labour giving birth to content to an eager father who just wants it over with as quick as possible, whilst acknowledging that mother Sony is very much thinking the same thing but in a more pained and desperate manner.

Writing in capital letters on a forum Sony won't even monitor isn't going to help... 💡

Why are everybody pissed at Sony? They dont gain anything by not letting people get online. They want it online as much as anybody. This is a huge minus for them, hopefully the stupid hackers will pay back some of Sony's loss.

At least 3/4 of the world are back online. :)

Which is great for us in that 75%. For the 25% who are still waiting, it must be extremely frustrating. I know I'd be feeling disenfranchised if I were in that 25%, with any luck you guys will have PSN back soon for you.

The people in Asia who still have no PSN, is it because of this Japanese government stuff about Sony having to prove to the government the systems secure before PSN is allowed to resume? If it is, it's just another example of government overstepping their responsibility.

I think so..
I hope it's just a matter of a push button to wake the PSN UP here in asia.

Well,in that case why it is taking so long for SONY to prove the security levels are high?Unless they can't reach the Japanese standards.....

Sony have just posted a shock 260 billion yen loss, they were expecting a 76 billion yen profit. They have been hit by a lot of things, earthquake, hacking. It made me think Sony is just a business, a business can collapse. If that happened to Sony, PSN would be off forever and no more games to download or buy from shops.
If all 77 million PS3 account holders paid 10,000 yen directly to Sony, we can help them have a good network and invest in future support and content.

Yours faithfully,

PS i have been told not to worry as Sony still expect to have a 200 billion yen profit in the coming year. If things go to plan. Sony are not expecting to pay out any money in class action etc. against them, based on them citing previous cases when compensation was only paid out to the credit card companies for the cost of replacing cards.

This may be a clue here..:

Japanese PSN Service Restarting This Month

Sony to share member information with credit card companies to help guard against misuse.

▶Posted on 05.22.2011 at 03:42, by Anoop Gantayat

Sony will restart the Japanese PlayStation Network service some time this month, Nikkei reports today. The service has been down since late last month.

PSN users outside of Japan have had access to parts of the service since last week. As detailed yesterday in Asahi, delays in Japan were brought on by requests from the government and credit card companies for more information from Sony. In Japan, card companies would be held accountable in the event of card misuse. In America, Sony has a contract in place with an insurer to cover possible damages.

Nikkei reports that Sony will give its member information, including name and credit card number, to credit card companies in order to allow them to closely watch for misuse. The site notes that Sony has 12.3 million credit card numbers on file both in and out of Japan.

Nikkei did not list a specific date for the restart of the service. It also did not mention what items will be on offer for Japanese players as part of Sony's "Welcome Back" gift package http://www.andriasang.com//e/blog/2011/05/22/psn_japan_restart/

I'm in South Texas, and I received this same email, whose subject line is "Identity Theft Protection Offer for PlayStation Network and Qriocity Customers" at 5:03am CST on Friday, May 27, 2011, or two days after you did.

I'm sitting on a few activation codes for a couple of games.. Is there anyway to get these activated? Or do we have to wait until the PS Store is back up?

I am pretty sure you need to wait for the PS store. But I don't know a lot about this sort of thing.
