Are we really using Twitter as proof of anything besides how dumb some people can be? It's really convenient for the purposes of this thread to have a facility for disagreeable types to show off how contrarian they are in public.

That is, quite literally, the joke.
Yeah but I paid for the full half hour. Now the thread itself is cursed content but at least I no longer have to go on Twitter to find it which is arguably even more convenient. (Yes it is).

Edit: Oh. That works in preview but not in the post. How odd...

PragerU has been kind of mask-off for a while since their video (now private, iirc) about why Robert E. Lee is such an important person & why his statues should remain with these totally valid reasons:
After 30 years of military service, Lee led U.S. Marines to crush the attempted slave rebellion by radical abolitionist John Brown in October 1859. Twenty-one co-conspirators had seized a federal armory and all of them were killed or captured, including John Brown who was tried and hanged for treason.
Lee deemed slavery ‘a moral and political evil in any country’ but considered it a greater evil to the white man than to the black race’ since blacks are immeasurably better off here than in Africa’.
As president of Virginia’s Washington College, he favored education for freed slaves but opposed their right to vote.

The youngin' Madison Cawthorn quickly deleted this take. May be an issue more with NYPost (which is trash of course), but if Twitter gives you a preview of what your tweet looks like when you link/insert something... yikes for still pressing submit.

Edit* His rep. did push out a statement claiming Cawthorn did delete the tweet, though declined to say why. At first glance, it would be an obvious duh as to why, but the report is that he only deleted after negativity hit it. According to ProPublica, the tweet was deleted after 2 days.

To be fair Maddie kinda Goebbels this sort of publicity up these days. To him this is probably just a Stürm in a teacup.

The Ben comment is the cursed one, of course. I just added the reply for added perspective:

When you want to be mad about a thing but you can't be bothered to understand the thing you want to be mad about.

What's shocking is that little idiot woman who calls the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan the "Genocide Olympics" because of the atrocities perpetrated against Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang, China is Morgan Ortagus, former State Department spokeswoman.

What's less shocking is that Ortagus was State Department spokeswoman under Mike Pompeo (likely not a pleasant position to be in even figuratively), who once, as part of a temper tantrum, purportedly challenged NPR reporter Mary Louise Kelly to find Ukraine on a map, and then she did.

It's a pity this sort of knowledge was expected of reporters but presumably not State Department employees.

I looked this up and according to CPJ Pompeo issued a statement afterwards falsely accusing Kelly of lying to him about whether his statement was off the record in an attempt to save face after she publicised the story. Project, project, project.

It's too bad their link to his statement is no longer valid. Perhaps the Trumpies took it down in embarrassment.
CPJ
Kelly had not been asked, nor agreed, for that exchange to be off the record.

When his blow-up became a widely reported story, Pompeo issued a formal statement falsely accusing Kelly of lying to him about the ground rules for the interview and their conversation afterwards. “It is shameful that this reporter chose to violate the basic rules of journalism and decency,” he stated. “This is another example of how unhinged the media has become in its quest to hurt President Trump and this Administration. It is no wonder that the American people distrust many in the media when they so consistently demonstrate their agenda and their absence of integrity.”

The dissonance here is pretty remarkable. If Covid is dangerous and will "wipe out" people, and the vaccines are unnatural and shouldn't be taken, wouldn't the implication be that Newsmax viewers are the one's supposed to be wiped out? I mean...that's a hell of a way to pwn the libs...

Except they don't think Covid is dangerous.

Well, I'm not going to stand in their way if they want to kill themselves to own the libs. More power to them I guess and I hope if they do end up in the hospital they aren't going to use socialism to pay for their care since that would just make them hypocrits.

Are hospitals not "against nature"?
