Is the difference in grip between quali and race in Race B ALL about the dirty air? The difference in turn in on the fast left before the uphill sweeping right left fast 5th gear corners is so significant.

Last night, running 3 seconds behind the car in front and nothing behind, my speed around that corner was circa 15mph less than qually. A second or less behind the car in front and I was having to brake to make that apex at something like 110mph (I'd need to check replays). I'm watching a couple of youtubers running that corner at 130+ in dirty air, which is what had me so perplexed.

Thank you. But this is only possible on a PC or on a phone where you force Webb view. And then I can't read it because it's too small. But I appreciate the effort on your behalf. Unfortunately this is probably something that will be a growing problem as more and more people only go online on their mobile devices.

Edit: sorry, I might have misunderstood. Will try again

Yeah, no.

GTPlanet uses a fully responsive design. There is no change of functionality between different devices.

Good morning, I think. First race
S7LsERT.gif

5 sec penalty, 2 places down at the finish.

He either lost control, or lag, or trying to push me gone wrong. I was drifting to the left as well, no coffee yet. But 5 sec, while wall riding was only 1.5 sec in FIA last night which still gained people time lol. I mean, how is this 5 sec, when a punt into the sand gets someone 2 or 3 sec.

-11 SR to wake up with, got tapped from behind as well for 2 SR Downs to add on top. 88 SR here we go.

Race 2 coming from 0.736 sec behind...
4N0LzxQ.gif

4 sec for getting dive bombed (Blue S for him) He tried to avoid me, good job!

83 SR left after 2 races.
You dont cover the line well in this section of the track thus the dive bombs.

I instantly move to the right as soon as i hit the apex before that corner. Ride the apex fully there bro :P

Running out of road at the last corner exit on DTS is...yeah, whatever! So many lines you can take over there.

Some of the corners in the fictional tracks are deceptively challenging. PD have gone to great lengths to put crests and offset the cambers in unexpected and sometimes un-noticeable places. Sometimes you just have to treat them like the carousels.

My experience is that less is more with this one. Push too much and the corner just wants to take you away into understeer oblivion.

Well, dipping my toes into the FIA waters went about as well as it could have possibly gone last night, ended up winning both races. Manu was a pretty uneventful race, scored pole and ran away with it from there. Nations was another story, messed up my Q laps and ended up starting 8th, spun out in T1/L1 and dropped back to 19th, only to claw my way back and get the Dub in the end, it was a fun race. Overall it was a great first experience with FIA races and I’m looking forward to getting into more of these races in the future. :)

Congratulations! Wish my FIA races could go like that. Sadly, I'm the problem

I've seen several people say similar. I can only guess you had a comfortable time buffer between others? It's difficult for me to fall asleep with a car < 0.2 seconds behind me.

Lobbies have been pretty close for QTs. My last had a 1:11.2 pole, me with 8th at 1:11.5 and 20th with 1:12.2 so most of us had a similar pace to each other.

In my case, with an entry list with racers with DR A to D, we were quite spread, until the last 3 laps, when a guy who was having some trouble with the understeer of worn tires started packing the cars behind him.
Lost two positions in the last two laps by being rammed from behind in the tight hairpin with no penalties at all (actually I was rammed three times, in the last three laps, but in the first time lost less momentum than the attacker and passed again before the last corner). I was always on the defensive line on the inside, never blocked or changed lanes between corners. Sometimes we get stupid penalties and this time zero penalties. Guess I got unlucky on the flaws of penalty system.

It wasn't me (this time)!

I've been trying to beat my 2016 qualifying time with the 2008 car, it feels better in every way but the best lap is still 0.001s slower, I give up for tonight but will try again tomorrow.
I went 0.4s quicker in the '08 compared the '16 car and you were quicker than me in the '16 one so you should be able to find the time.

Yeah you have to be a little patient at the start of that S section. I'd say the hairpin at the end of sector 2 is much more important in these cars compared to others as well as you're flat out all the way to the last corner so it's all about getting a good exit there.

How many points?

I gave up on FIA a while ago. Too many poor drivers playing like they actually had a shot at a regional.

724 for Manu and 762 for Nations, they weren’t top rooms. This was my first try at this, I want to get used to the way live Qualifying works and get comfortable in these type of races before I start jumping in with the Aliens. :)

Why would I slow myself down because a car 0.7 sec behind might do a dive bomb. I might as well move over and let anyone pass that is in dive bomb range :ouch: I know what it takes to avoid it all and it dropped me to DR.1 when going for the clean streak challenge  Car in range, pull over or get SR Down.

Bought the 08 gtr for race B and cut my time to a 1.29.456 so i decided to race.... with two exceptions it was a decent race. Coming out of the uphill s on lap one the guy in front of me lost control and i was to close to avoid it, 3 sec car collision penalty. Problem was he tried to save it, i was going to clear him if he didn't pendulum back the other way. Then on the second lap i killed myself in the bus stop, not even sure what i did wrong, but boy did i do it wrong lol Finshed 15th. @Sven Jurgens made it up to 6th i believe

If i say what i am thinking about the second race, i will get banned from this site. All my own fault though, so i guess thats good.....

I'm afraid some justice has had to be handed down. There's lunges, divebombs and then there's this:

This driver committed to that overtake when he was still in the tunnel. It had taken me several laps to work through that pack cleanly and then one punt drops me back. I hate that corner as you're so ripe for the punt, so I'm trying to get in and through before someone can hit me. In this instance there's no hope.

I'm afraid that later on the opportunity arose to test the penalty system. And it was taken: Fatality. Bonus for the full clean drift entry into the right-hander afterwards.

Here's the video from my "fun 'n games" moment yesterday evening in Race B...Started 5th, battled up to second, when..........

I think he was miffed that I passed him fair and square, with a sweet move on the last lap, and he didn't even get a penalty for his dirty move.....The "boozy" PSN ID might explain his crap driving!

Hey hooooo!

You might want to make these vids public if you want us to see.

EDIT: Wait? What? I can see them in the quote, but not the original post!

Take that, and that...and that...

Race C is pretty good for SR repair. I just did my first one of the week. I started 15th out of 16, with no Q time. I was just looking to gain some SR points, since I was still at 51 from wet Tokyo, and some rough St. Croix races.

It's nearly impossible to avoid contact in those first couple of laps if you're trying to pick up positions from the back. I got 2 SR downs early on, but in the end, I maneuvered my way up to 2nd. Even with the SR losses for contact with lower rated cars, I gained 15 SR overall. I guess a clean race C could get you about 20 SR points. 👍

I was gaining on P1, but he was about 15 seconds ahead of me by the time I cleared the other 14 cars.

If I do that race again, I'll move the brake bias further to the rear, to preserve the front tires. Rear tire wear is not a problem at that race.
