Was more thinking DR points tbh, as they weren't sitting at the back being idle, was 3/4 maybe 5 on a few races I've done this morning, out to race and weren't shy about letting you know they wanted passed. Anyway, it's no hassle was just curious that's all. Guess it was all the more heightened by the fact I'm finding the hard tyres tough to work with on these races. More practice needed regardless, all part of the newbie learning process!!

Quick look at strategy for race at interlagos

Nothing too surprising but hopefully helpful for a few folk out there

I do think PD missed a trick to make this race more interesting

Damn, I must’ve been more exhausted than I thought when doing calculations last night. Guess it’ll be a no-stop no matter what.

That’s lame. 13 laps like you mention would’ve been nice.

DR is only affected by finish position, not by how many people you pass to get there. People who want to maximise their DR gains will qualify as high as they can, in order to finish as high as they can.

I tried a race at Interlagos in the morning, forgot I had no TCS on and spun out after accidentally switching to first gear. So back to last, then after I caught up with someone, passed them, they bumped me off the next corner and I end up spinning in the grass again, 10 sec lost before getting back on the road. I still passed a few pit stoppers, finished 11th from 15th.

Then I tried Good wood, N200 bleh. Fun circuit, boring car. I got bumped off in lap 2 T1, finished last. I don't know why I never get reset anymore, I lose so much time when getting bumped off :/

Did something change about the physics on grass as well? On Brand's in Fia people were simply using the grass at the fast right with no issues at all. It used to be go wide there and bye bye. On Goodwood the same, can't make the turn just keep going on the grass. Nordschleife as well, grass has become part off the track...

Second attempt at Interlagos, dive bomb in lap 1 rammed me off, I get SR Down of course. The rest of the race went ok. I was in 10th after letting a pit stopper through. The pit stopper bumped off 8th in the final turn and got a 3 second penalty, so I finished 8th.

Interlagos is actually more fun than N200 at Good wood, too short, too slow. Both aren't all that great though.

Polling stations are open, off to vote now.

Put the McLaren in the top 10, just to prove the point I made yesterday night :)

Great lap @ASH32

Last week at St Croix in the Ford GT: Grid P12 Race P6. I finally completed the race without TC, it was fun and yet thrilling to see the car slide around and extract the most out of the car.
A few cars were knocked out into the wall but I kept a cool head and focused on my points and consistent laptimes, eventually took almost half the field to hit within top 10.

Interlagos Race C: Grid P19 Race P11. A well fought but relaxed battle. The first few laps were just other cars zooming past me since I had no tyre temps and it was a little slow start for me. Took the Huracan to open as much gap as possible, until lap 7 when the fronts were starting to fade away and understeer slowly creeping in. Thankfully I held on to my lap amid closing rear car until the final lap where it was a fierce fight for 11th place. Accidentally exchanged paint with the other car while trying to push and ended up apologizing and acknowledging each other for the race. I have good respect for the other Japanese guy whom we both agreed it was a minor aggressive contact.

Interesting, thanks, is there somewhere that explains the DR system as in how many points you win or lose in a given situation? I get the S rating, but the DR is next on my list to learn about!

I quit my third attemp at Interlagos, simply ridiculous. There were too many non qualifiers in the back all trying to be a hero, not driving carefully at all in traffic. It turned into pinball mayhem. I got a 1 sec penalty first for going wide to avoid a car at the straight... Can't touch the grey I guess. Then another sec when getting rammed in T1, so served 2 sec and behind the mess again. Lap 2, a penalty server doesn't move off the line, unghosts 1 inch from my bumper with a car already next to me, bump, he goes wide, 3 sec for me. Then I get turned into a pinball for the next couple corners, hit, hit, hit, another 2 sec from a rammer going off, hit, hit, spun out, turned the ps4 off. Pure nonsense.

Oh, those 1.5 laps at Interlagos cost me 35 SR, from 99 to 64 in 2 minutes.

The Carnival is in town and it's Killa Klowns all the way :censored:s. First time actually racing since @Pigems lobby over a week ago. Was suposed to have done 76 laps of Blue Moon Bay this morning, but well.. that was a whole other ball of DNS all together . I put in some qualifying laps and managed to get within 3s of #10 of the Asian top 10. That was with the Trophy. It seems a bit more tail happy than it used to be. That had me starting P8/18 on a mixed grid of DR/C and D with a couple of Bs thrown in. I think it was originally P10/20.

The race starts, and I'm freaking out waiting for my car to suddenly turn into a wall during auto drive :scared:. Big sigh of relief when I actually make it to the start and auto drive lets go. I managed to get through the T1 chicane ok... there was a little scrapping by some people but generaly it was a fairly ordered affair.. for a DR/D/C race :P. Then I get to the left hander where there's a massive amount of concrete run off but if you get a sliver of tyre off the track, which looses you time anyway, you get hit with penalties :banghead:. *That's* where I was slammed from behind . Dropped back to P15.

I got on with it and made up a couple of positions, then a couple more. I had to yield a couple of times to allow people ot pass because if I held my line they would have ended up off the track. As it was I still had people scrape me and me getting an orange SR for me getting hit. This was a) the usual penalty system being terminally fractured, and b) people not quite having enough car control to make these passes without giving a slight tap. People were trying though. Not dirty, just... DR/D in action.

There was no META, and most people were pitting for tyres. To be honest, the Trophy was so skittery that I didn't notice tyre wear. I was short shifting a little, and using taller gears. This was less about fuel saving and more because I noticed in other races I seem to get better tyre wear that way. I was set for a P11 finish with another trophy right up my butt, so maybe P12, when someone spun out on the second of those tight corners at the back. I managed to use this to put the spun car between me and the other Trophy. Finished P10.

Despite seeing numerous SR downs, finished SR white. Because I finished ahead of DR/Cs, DR up 200 even though I wasn't in the top half. Another day above DR 1? :odd:

There is somewhere, but my internet searching abilities have abandoned me.

My take on it all comes from door number... The game will assign your number based on where it 'expects' you to finish. Look at your car number compared to others.

Basically speaking, the more people with lower numbers than you that you can finish ahead of, the better.

Sometimes, I look at it from a different perspective. For example if my car has number 1, essentially saying I'm the best driver on the track, it might not be totally accurate but gives you a good idea of your standing. If I get low numbers on my car but a bad grid position, I know that I should probably be qualifying better.

Edit @Sven Jurgens beat me to it

@GT5Power Your lap in the McLaren must be even better to get it to go that quick. I've only seen a few people be able to get anything out of it and you are now definitely one of them and the others were top quality drivers, great job. 👍
Thank you. :) I've gotten very familiar with the Gr.4 McLaren over the last three months I've been driving it in FIA. It's definitely an underdog, too many people write it off as uncompetitive without trying it out. Seeing my efforts get rewarded on Wednesday with a 2.6k point win was immensely satisfying. :D

As a side effect however, I am now unable to drive the (meta car) Huracán, since I'm so used to the 650S

Those of you who race in the American region know this is a bad looking situation. :scared:
I had zero interest in getting in between those two. I opted for the conservative approach, hung back and let it work itself out. 💡
It didn't take very long. Such a predictable outcome.

I would have been extremely nervous about those two flying across the grass and wiping me out at St Mary's. Fortunately they were nowhere in sight, perhaps they parked up for a bit of fisticuffs?

Do any of you guys know if engine placement has an effect on front tire wear?
I only did one Interlagos race this morning, and at the end, the rear tires had held up significantly better than the fronts. I used the WRX.
I was just wondering if in the game, having less weight over the front tires (MR/RR) makes for better tire wear.

It absolutely does make a difference. MR cars rear tires wear at a much faster rate due to the rear wheels being the driving force and the weight being closer to them. FF cars accelerate quickly because all the weight is on the driving wheels, thus having all the grip, which eats the fronts and basically does almost nothing to the rears. AWD cars chew up fronts like crazy because they are doing double duty and rears wear more than FF cars since they are also pushing the car. That's one of the reasons I prefer FR cars, because you have more control over tire wear using brake balance.

Thank you. 👍
There's a lot of things that I know to be true about real-life cars, but am not always sure whether the properties of physics are accurately translated to the game.
