His pace is ridiculous everywhere, he was gaining a second a lap on top FIA split last night. The Esses and Spoon are downforce corners, the car behind is trapped in the dirty air so you're fairly safe there. The track limits at the chicane let you cut the left by a load but it's risky, I don't like putting the power on over there because it's too easy to lose the rear.

Amazing racing, Igor is truly a fantastic driver, but also a very fair driver. So impressive to see him do a last to, almost first, challenge in the top splits.

That being said. Reckon there is no doubt. You're right up there as the fastest controller player in the game.

Race B is becoming annoying, can no one drive? That's 2 in a row where I start near the front and just get bumped to the back, losing SR too just to make things worse. It would be a really good race if we had even a half decent pen system.

Race A and B are usually really short, meaning you have to be super aggressive right from the get go. There’s no time to wait it out and see who’s doing what, because by the time you do, the race is already over. 👍

I'm not fast but I am stubborn, 5 laps against the Gran Turismo World Champion:

*unedited so loads of looking behind

Igor had started last and made it up to 2nd in 6 laps but used a lot of boost to get there. I started on pole and knew he was coming so saved some ammo...

Brilliant race. Shame the BS penalty ruined it for you. I'm sure Igor knows it too. I'm loving his old school Formula Gran Turismo look from GT4.

Not the best results from me today but had enjoyable racing.
I tried the FT-1 in race B. Decent in the race. Got past someone lap 1 in the big sweeper curve. But the Beetle behind got me on the Start/ Finish straight. (My exit was comprimised by a slight oversteer moment.) I was faster than him it was just a matter of getting by which never happened. We had a really good race. He did seem to lack a bit of awareness as he kept forcing to the outside (good racing) but tried to nudge me towards the grass in the braking zone. (bad racing) As he never outright shoved me I'm assuming a lack of awareness rather than dirtiness as the rest of the racing was clean. Unfortunately I misjudged my braking into the chicane despite doing it early I tapped him. I barely lost his line and I slowed up but still earned a 1 second penalty. This dropped me a place and I never got my speed back. Finished 7th from 9th.

Cut some time off my race C qualy and once again started 6th. I was up to 3rd by sector 2. However this race was littered with small mistakes. Got a couple of BS penalties. One guy went off at Degna 1 and decided to rejoin and take the apex of Degna 2 immediately meaning we collided. His fault not mine, but I was charged. These meant I was then battling a German for a few laps. It was all very fair and clean even running side by side through 130R and no issues into Casio Triangle. One lap I got the run into Turn 1. However my narrower line and harder braking sent me a little deep. He got the cutback but tapped me. My back tyre hit the green death and I span to the inside barrier. By the time I got going I had lost loads of places and finished eventually in 13th.

Fun races this week by they are killing my SR. Down to B/B now. :(

Had a bit of a racing break but back into it this week. Race C is a fun race and the grid start are just nuts.

I am not a good qualifying driver and tend to set poor times so I am generally at the back of the grid in most races at the start. I can however for some reason find a some pace in the actual race and be consistent (I also try to stay out of trouble). At times in race C I have made 10 places before the first corner just with folks having false starts or just pleb into the wall on the straight.

Then it's just usually a case of survival with consistent laps till the end. I am still gaining a coup!e of places from from folks not taking mandatory tyres, I mean I like free places so thanks. Not won one yet and the best I have managed is a 5th (after being 19th at start).

It's just a fun race that I am enjoying a lot. Hopefully I will figure out why I can't set a decent qualifying lap and maybe hit a win before the end of the week.

My checklist for QT. Most are obvious but none are obvious if you haven't done them before.:)
  • Are you using the RS tires and not RM ones? I gotta ask 'cause the game always starts you on the slower tires. Use the fast ones.
  • Watch a top 10 lap and look for big discrepancies in cornering or peak speeds. I was shocked at the T1 entry and the first part of Spoon (over 200 kph). No brakes in the esses - throttle lifting and 4th gear only.
  • Load a top 10 ghost. Let it show you the way.
  • In the race screen use the "Qualifying Time Trial" button to the right of "Entry". You can lap until you find your rhythm. It is valid for QT.
  • Change your display to show the split times. When a blue time flashes it reinforces your good work. It also gives you immediate feedback when you try a new line or brake point.
  • Don't worry about always setting the fastest lap - every lap. Experiment and learn. If you make a mistake use the rest of the lap as an opportunity to try/learn something new. No one is looking.
  • Watch @Tidgney or @Mistah_MCA weekly videos. They always tell me something that I don't know.
  • Finally, use the Circuit Experience.

The super aggressive is nearly understandable, but playing in a way your likely to get a pen is just stupid. The fact that the system is so broken they get away with it so often just encourages it.
Last race I took the guy going up the hill at the start, I'm ahead on the long left hander so he just drives too fast using me to steer and I end up in the wall, no pens but i lose 3 places and he lost 2.

Yeah, and even more unfortunate is that when these people get a penalty and get punished, the punishment more often than not is just being pushed down into an easier lobby, perhaps even one filled with C and D/S drivers where the dirty A or B type guy can cruise across the finish and farm wins. For people who only care about farming wins the current matchmaking is excellent but it’s such a shame to reward these awful people and at the same time punish lower rated drivers who are racing clean and doing their utmost.

I only had time for one race & only had a couple of laps to qualify. A 1:37 is not good for your starting spot. But amazingly, I got into a rather civil room. One Supra nudged me off & garnered 3 seconds for his bad decision. A few turns later, I think he wanted to punt me, but it didn't happen. Made some great passes (IMO) & came home in 3rd. I'll post it later, in case some of you get bored.

Super Formula is always great fun to drive :)
Though my current TT time is a 1:36.006 :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Great lap man!!

... and to follow up on what I just mentioned. In a previous race I got a 2 sec penalty twice and was pushed down from SR 99 to 80. That was a mistake by the game but let’s pretend I’m a dirty but fast driver who’s only after wins, no matter how.

This was the punishment for the following race:

Entered b. 49k 99sr. Started 13 all a a plus room. That race sucked got bashed around, total chaos for minus 1000 dr minus 6 sr.
I’ll try one more but it might turn out to be a good week for an A or c race instead.
Unless you’re pole I do not reccomend B race.

Confirmed B race top room is utterly horrid.
I won’t be racing that anymore after what I’ve seen. Just total chaos like this is A and A plus? Wow.
The GTR people have started to get involved now I forgot about that stupid contraption last time when it was Yama plus Miyabi.
I guess it’s a qualifying contest start up front grind points race or nothing.
The guys at the back will kamikaze for 14th.
I won’t be racing that one again, it sucks. Total damage -2400 dr sr dip to 87 from 99. Peopl trying to race on Yamagiwa tonight at A rank in the back are fricken morons.
Tonight’s not a night for me to race.
I’ll just get pissed and do something stupid. I’m just going to opt out instead. Maybe opt out of these races altogether this week. When’s FIA start?

Tried a race c finally and I'm a bit rusty in the SF. Got a decent qualy lap in with a 1.36.68x but race trim is another story altogether. Had one off at degnar 1 but otherwise brought it home safely for p6 which was where I started.

Edit: Snagged an easy win from p3 in race c in my 2nd attempt, leader pulled aside for a last to first and the Brazilian in p2 opted for no TCS on start and off I sailed into p1 with some overtake into t1. A certain TPC Hitman was chasing me down on a 1 stop strategy from the back but he seemed to run out of overtake a few laps before the end while I had tons to spare. Still some race pace and consistency to find in that combo.

Sir, I disagree.

Race 1 tonight: D/S lobby in the Mustang, D/S to D/B rated (got stuck behind someone who parked it on every corner - eventually I had to help him around the corner using my bumper several times, bad judgement on my part). Finished 9th.

Race 2: D/B lobby in the Mustang, D/B to D/A rated (better race - CRB). Finished 6th.

Race 3: D/A lobby in the Toyota Supra (Meta): D/A to D/B rated (let the punting begin! Payback from the first race I guess). Finished 13th.

Race 4: D/B lobby in the Toyota Supra (Meta): D/B rated remained (had a few run ins with the back of a Mclaren who hopped a cone (1st bump) and then wiped out in front of me (causing a nice T-bone which promptly awarded me my 2nd Orange of the race). Finished 8th.

So far the night has sucked.

Race 5: D/B lobby back in the Mustang, D/B rated remained (only 1 orange down for slight tap in T1 on L1 otherwise a good race. Finished 3rd (my first podium!!)

Race B is alright in my book.

In the last race I did get to race with a TPC teammate - tpc_squeeeeeeeeps. Good job to him/her - won the race from the pole!

More tomorrow - enjoy your racing!

Had 2 good runs in race B, both very closely contested by the same guy USGT Turismo. Hats off to him for clean racing and not running into the back of me a few times when I made an error or he had a run. I think I'll run the beetle and try and show the supras a thing or two this week.

Part 2
