Super Formula is always great fun to drive :)
Though my current TT time is a 1:36.006 :banghead::banghead::banghead:
I can only dream of a 1:36.006, 'Woah, mega lap!'

Can I pretend this was deliberate?

The handbrake releases 1 frame before the lights go out.

The last time I used the handbrake was the MX-5 tourers at Suzuka. Despite the button being held down the car still crept and I got false start penalty. Been a brake pedal pleb since then.

After finishing yesterday on SR 7 from 67 in one race at Suzuka I ventured out at Kyoto today. First race in the NSX, got pushed out in the esses and hit in the chicane, SR at 32 after the race. Not clean, no CRB but still 25 SR up.
Next race, also in the NSX, hands me 1200 DR inspite door#1, but SR remains at 32.
Third race, bring out the Ford GT, CRB and SR at 42 (must be double the SR-points down here).
The NSX is very good here, if you delay your downshift it doesn't step out under braking. But there's only one line in that car to go fast. The GT you can modulate, anticipate and adapt in.

B/S with the alt. Trying the AMG GT GT3. My wife is "making" me choose AMG for FIA becuase, she likes Mercedes over BMW and Ford.

Edit: Started 3rd. Dropped to 4th, after a wobble on the 3rd lap. Fought the P3 RSR, cleanly, for my spot back on the final lap, after it wobbled at the middle esses. Finished where I started.

The AMG IS fast. It's rear end is more planted than the Supra and RX-V. Drove the thing so much in the Lewis Hamilton DLC, never bothered to use it anywhere else. Don't know how it'll go in FIA.

Now, I set all the Gr.4 times in cockpit view. The SLS was 1:52.063(placed it above the RC F & Genesis). Decided to try hood cam and dropped my time to what it is there. Amazing what a change of view can do.

Had 2 good runs in race B, both very closely contested by the same guy USGT Turismo. Hats off to him for clean racing and not running into the back of me a few times when I made an error or he had a run. I think I'll run the beetle and try and show the supras a thing or two this week.

Part 2

Useful video. Thanks.
I’ve still some time to find.
I’ll try to increase my corner entry speed on the faster sections.

The use of quotation marks here adds tremendous comedic value.

I have been farming DR in Race A today. It’s actually a good fun race. There’s been minimal dirty driving and some fantastic door-to-door battles. It seems to be a combo that really rewards smooth driving and good race craft. It helps that I seem to drive the Integra well and have a qualy time that generally sees me no lower than 4 in the grid. The only problem I have consistently is getting off the line. I’m using TCS for the start, but everyone else just gobbles me up. Not really sure what is happening, but I’ll keep working on it.

I am the number one fan of that car, you can just LAY on the gas so early. It does understeer though but to me, it is by a good margin the fastest of the "safe" cars on just about any track.

Give the Ft whatever a run, you will be pleasantly surprised. Managed a 32.9 in it.

I ran laps in B last night in the Supra for about 20-25 minutes. Got an okay time, but there's definitely time to be had. I'll have to decide if I want to try anything else. I think it's funny that it ended up being the META since I was planning on using it since the combo came up. Both it and the GTR allow for a bit of throttle steering, which works for my "driving style" and tickles my fun button. Followed the #1 ghost for a bit trying to see where I need to improve. Mostly the 2 "chicanes" for lack of a better word. Also did laps at Suzuka for about 20 minutes. That car is so hyper, and touchy. It really shows the limits of my wheel. It's been better since I repaired the split main bearing holder and wired it together, but the on center dead spot really makes that car challenging. I've discovered that the "dead spot" is not (mostly) in the steering, but mostly in the FFB. The center 15 degrees of rotation really has no force feedback, so in this car it can mess me up trying to catch the rear after curbs and such. One day I would love to try a really high quality wheel, but for now, I'll rely on my G29 and keep it together with epoxy and safety wire.
Might dip a toe in with some alt racing tonight if I have time.

I've got a "like new" G29 that was only used for about 10 hours, that you can have if you come pick it up.
It's definitely got a dead spot at top dead center. Maybe you can swap some parts.

Ran B race 3 times last night. Getting faster with the wheel!! Moved up to C/S. SO CLOSE TO GETTING B!

Got 3rd in the first race...hit from behind after starting on pole...fell back to 8th.....worked back to podium
Then took 1st in the second race. 2nd and 3rd fought hard giving me time to pull away and just make decent lap times
2nd in final of the night for me.

Loving race B this week.

Had some fun, close and fast racing last night. Bounced around with cars, ended up with the Meta.

decided to do my own 2 week “no TCS “ trial period, to give it an honest try before I right it off completely. Did 15 minutes of qualifying and I couldn’t put together a lap to save my life. The ensuing race was even worse. I rage-quitted after the second lap when I spun in the exit of that first slow left hairpin.... and than I preceded to stay stuck against the wall for 10 seconds after I couldn’t do anything besides smoke my tires trying to get going again.

The rage-quit happened to be good timing because I had to leave the house to do some errands anyways. As I was driving about during my errands, a funny thing happened. I realized I don’t mercilessly hammer the throttle mid corner while my steering wheel is still cranked....I gradually ease on the throttle as I unwind the my turn like every other normal driver.

.....what a novel friggin idea!!

.....drive the car in the game like I do my own vehicles!

45 minutes later I’m back in the fighter seat, ready to spin some laps after my recent epiphany. Presto!! No more spin outs as long as I ease on the accelerator and unwind the steering out of corners!!

my next 2 races go well, and I only couldn’t get going once after I hit the wall! I still need to work on getting going from a dead stop with TCS-0. Gonna continue to give this an honest shot. I’m hopeful I don’t totally tank my ratings these next 2 weeks

Did you release the handbrake or did the game do it?
Answering your question 'yes' with replays from all cameras (looking behind especially) and this face :D

Re, TC, this track and the New Supra is a TC NIGHTMARE. I feel huge amount of intrusion at TC2, way, way more than any other combo. So I am taking a risk by fiddling with TC as i race. 0 TC until the first chicane, on the downhill straight I change to TC2, drop it to TC1 after the tight left then back to TC0 on the main straight after my initial accelleration.

Problem is you get it wrong once and you're in the weeds.

What is meta?

After seeing the race reports here, I got too scared to put my hard won A+ DR on the line and dusted off the alt account to try out the races. Well, its a new, old alt. I couldn't remember what email address I used for the one I had back in November so I brought back an account I used for a squad I ran with in Eve:Valkyrie on PSVR years ago. So if you see a nighthawks281 out there this week, that's me.

Yamagiwa is a fun track to run around, but it isn't a very fun race in my experience. The track is ridiculously wide, but I'm not seeing any benefit to that. Most of the important places on the track have an optimal line and taking the alternatives hasn't netted me any positive results. I've been in lower level races at the front with just one or two others, though, so maybe its different in the pack.

Suzuka in Super Formula is what I really came out for. This race is intense and quite a workout on the wheel. I was sweating and feeling it in my arms after 3 races last night. I haven't encountered anyone dirty, but lots of poor control. These cars require a lot of focus throughout the track and a general agreement on where the braking points are or, more specifically, where they are not. I'm gonna work on my qualy time and might check out the top splits later this week.

And the fun starts! This track / car combo, and others like it, are THE reason to not use TCS. Once you get the feel for where you can push the pedal to, to get some acceleration, but not too much, you can get the initial throttle input, then use the "tail-happyness" to keep from pushing wide. On the 2nd gear hairpins, you can actually get on the gas too early sometimes, goose the throttle to get her a bit sideways, then pedal it to regain traction and feed the throttle back to full, getting a great drive. On the 3rd gear sweepers you can take a line that might look like you got on the gas too early and will go wide, but the slight drift you get tightens the line and you get a great drive. Clipping the curb can also help rotation, but you need to be ready to catch it, and backpedal the throttle if it comes out too much.

if I ever tried to change TCS like you did, I would crash every lap...
