So I have a question about Race C this week. At both turn 1 and the hairpin at the top of the hill I am routinely making overtakes. My technique is generally to get a superior run into the straight and use that plus the slipstream to pull alongside the car in front. This is usually on the inside line, but sometimes I take the outside.

If on the inside (and at least level with the car) I brake slightly early, hit the apex and leave room on the outside on exit. After my most recent race someone told me I need to learn to overtake properly after they needed to take the outside line through turn 1.

My understanding is I’m driving clean, but I am interested in whether that’s the general view. I don’t want to be seen as a dive bomber so please let me know if this would qualify as a dive.

Sounds clean to me - I think a dive bomb is more using the other car as a brake as the overtaker dives for a non existant gap, forcing the outer car wide.

If I end up on the outside, I'll go
Just found this clip from a while back, but, it’s proof that room can be made for a second car, just about anywhere on any track. :)

I can't get through on my own without problems! :-0

Well, after my week off I came back refreshed and good to race.

Been having a good time with Race C, although started out rough. In the Vette on Pole, broke the slip on lap one and just stayed steady. By lap 6 I had 9 second gap to P2. Into the Pits for tire change and back out. By the line lap nine had 18 seconds back to P2. Brushed the wall in the decreasing radius right and lead down to 14 seconds, but no sweat. Crossed the line with fastest lap, set 3x through the race. Then 14 seconds later I was second, then third . . . I put softs on again. Dumb*** me. Ended up P10 and down some DR.

Two more races that went well, top 5 Q and two podiums.

Last race was a rough start, punted off in L1 T1, 4th to 15th. Not dirty though, P2 braked too early and stacked the field up, didn't look dirty on the replay, just chaotic. Head down, into the pits at the end of 6 and onto mediums (got it right yay me). Am into 7 and 6 is just ahead into T1 when he's had enough racing and decides to have a beach vacation. (Thise cold mediums don't make fresh soft braking points work) into 6th and down 5 seconds to 5th. Run down 5th and get the slip on the main straight at the end of the final lap. Am within 2 tenths and get a good drive into the first hairpin, but he defends clean and well holding the inside. I get a better drive out of the left hand kink, and get the inside about the 150 board, he doesn't give me an extra space, but I stay clean and tight through he hairpin and finish 5th.

Don't think I'll do A or B this week, but having fun with C.

Next week's races:

A: Tsukuba - N100 - SH tires
B: Lago Maggiore GP - Gr.3 - RM tires
C: Kyoto Yamagiwa - N400 One-Make - SS tires (SM mandatory)

Time to start learning how to drive a GR3 car for me, GR4 is not enough.
Any recommendation about a good car for this track? I only tried 911, Viper and RCZ, all others are almost impossible for me right now.

Thanks

Assuming you are not up in the A(+) range, the answer is probably whatever you can be consistent with and are comfortable driving. With no tire wear in B, turn some laps in a few and see what feels best and yields repeatable lap times.

For me, the Vette is my go to comfort car, easy to drive for me, and I can be pretty consistent with it. FR is typically easier for me that way but with no tire wear, some of the MRs aren't too bad. The Jag, Vantage and RX V come to mind as good FR options.

I ran the RX V on the nation's reverse layout and felt good as well.

Thanks. And yeah I'm A DR in both accounts because I'm not that bad in Gr4. Probably time to kill my alt account and run as much as I can just for practice.

If learning Group 3 i'd try the Lexus. It's a touch down on power but at LM you need turn in to be fast through the esses and the final sector and of the RWD cars that are stable, the Lexus has good turn in. 911, for me, gets too nervous over bumps and the RCZ is twitchy. Each to his own though, it's the best category in the game for variety and competitiveness.

Good suggestion. '16 Lexus was the 1st Gr 3. car I felt comfortable with.

For me, it worked because of the residual engine sound. Somehow made me ease into the gas. Which made me ease off in general and made all the other cars easier. Probably a solid choice for anyone finding themselves getting on the gas too fast aka losing time on the exit.

There are disgusting cheaters in Race A. There is no point of racing with these creatures on this new penalty system.
The cheater calls other people dirty/mariokart etc... Social waste.
Ruins the game, ruins the joy!
I was away for a 3 weeks break but i think i am gonna look into other racing/real racing games.

edit: i believe he is a well known cheater in the emea region with his alternate account. He is in the top 10-50 of emea most of the times. Such a shame. These people are disgrace to humanity. He is why we are having wars at 2021! Such a shame!

edit 2: judging by my sr rating ups and downs some might think i'm dirty too but i am not. It is because i mess with dirty players, i never quit fighting, i don't let them win cheating.
Other times i drive at gts like i'm driving my beloved wrx sti actually.

edit 3: he is very very good at cheating. He takes people out in the blink of an eye but it's very hard to take him out. I smash him a couple of times but he recovers. He expects to be taken out. 1000+ distinct days driving and 13800+ races, moron wrestles hard. One should learn to cheat to fight with the cheater.

Mmmm. More Gr. 3 fun. I like it.

If the Viper is doable for you, I say give the Mustang a try. I still swear that it got a handling tweak under the most recent update.

That calls for opinion, specs and data.

Opinion:
When I was new, Group 3 was too much car for me. I opted for stability over raw speed.
  • Beetle (it makes a sound like you are going really fast... but really aren't)
  • Hyundai Genesis (it makes a sound like something is going to die... now I find it comforting)
I learned TCS=0 on those at Mount Panorama and credit those cars for one of my early bumps in performance.

Other good stability options are:
  • Mitsubishi Evo Lancer
  • Vantage
  • Lexus RCF
  • Nissan GT-R
Specs:
Kudos does a decent job to categorize the cars here: https://www.kudosprime.com/gts/carlist.php?cartype=1. I don't know if it accounts for BoP.

Data:
Finally, the lap records are here https://gtsport.r1s3.net/laprecords/26/13 , but you need to allow for recent BoP updates.

Thing is, most of those are slow on a straight line or are prone to understeer, they are all stable thoughb for sure.

Beetle should go ok at LM, worth a try but it is a very different drive to every other group 3 car.

At least there won't be a week's worth of boring debates about which is the best car for race C. :D

The race B combo has come up so many times, that most people probably already have a favourite car.
Literally only a month or so back was the last time I believe.

Or jump in the deep end and grab the Hurracan. It will try to kill you, then wisper sweet things in your ear. Then boil your pets.....
This felt very good last time the combo came up. I'm probably not fast enough to coax her bad side out too much as I'm nowhere near the edge. Doesn't mean she won't snap but I find her an enjoyable ride. ;)

When I do a double like on a post it just undoes the first one. So 👍👍

I have started to mess with the dirty players but I am so bad at it. Like anything it is a skill that needs to be developed. Today, I just wound up in the sand. Right now, I rate myself at DirtyDeeds.D. So pathetic :yuck:

I am racing once per day to take the temperature. If it is reasonable I will jump back in for a second swim.
