The Stang is stable, unremarkable. The Lambo might not be too bad.
It’s hard to compete with ff, there. The ff are so fast in a line. For non ff gr4 I always go Stang. Gr4 it’s tough to find a car. I love driving the Rarri, but not on the Mountain it’s too slow.
If you can start on the pole, I bet you'd be really tough to pass in the Veyron.
Somehow, I pulled it off a couple months ago at Sardegna. I used the RCZ to get a pole position, then switched to the Bugatti for the race.
None of the FFs were able to get by.

The Veyron is a good car, on a good line, but it’s not too nimble or very good on the brakes. I’ll give it a try tonight. :::cheers::;

Have any of you figured out what the best non FF cars are for Mt. Panorama?
I tried a few laps this morning in the Ferrari, and the lap times were not very competitive with the times that I've seen posted.
It's bad enough that I have to use front-wheel drive cars at Autopolis. I'll be damned if I'm gonna use one at race B also (I dislike them, very much).
I've seen a couple of people use the Jaguar today - generally seem to have finished where they started, so it's not totally uncompetitive. Just a bit of a handful over the mountain from what I saw.

Yep, the F-Type. I watched one of the top racers use it early Monday morning. He passed me on conrod but could not hold it in the Chase though he it appears he was trying to give me racing space. I imagine it is hard to handle.

I have seen others struggle with it on the fast bit on Skyline. They veer over the right curb trying to manage the speed. Once over the curb the F-Type is more unstable compared to the FFs.

In the end, the FFs will dominate this week at Race B with the VW and RCZ leading the way.

The lack of patience is remarkable. SOme guys from certain parts of th world are naturally FAST, like really fast, yet when they catch you it's push, shove, nudge, push etc. Dude, just pass me! WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO PASS ME THROUGH MCPHILLAMY????? Line me up at the elbow, pass me down conrod, it is that simple.

Man.
McPhillamy is a ballsy place to go for a move, Skyline is much easier 👍

I am concentrating on Race B / Group 4 / Mount Panorama using the VW Scirocco. These are my QT insights based on personal experience and watching the fast lappers.
  • Don't use second gear. Ever. Even for braking.
  • Do over-rev the engine when shifting up.
  • I have opted for BB+3 and feel it better than BB+5 and BB+1.
  • Maintain a speed in the mid 90's (kph) for "The Cutting" and then go mostly flat with only minor lifts until Skyline. The mediums allow this.
  • Pass skyline/audi banner going longer on full throttle until it feels suicidal. Use modulating braking and minimal throttle and practically "fall down" the hill until the Dipper. If you feel the need to accelerate then you are braking too much or too soon.
  • At Forrests Elbow. Don't use second gear - stay in third. Hug the inside wall aiming for a minimum speed of 95 kph - this is very hard but is critical to utilize your speed on Conrod.
  • At Quarry (Griffens) and the Chase I have seen folks opt for 4th gear instead of 3rd. It appears to be a "wash" and is personal preference. There may be something to it for Quarry (Griffens).
At this point I have a 2:10.9 and can gain a few 10ths. I cannot find a way to a sub 2:10.

Any other tips and insights are appreciated. My current QT achieved a Q7 start position.

It's o.k. everywhere except skyline to the Dipper. Wants to go backend first.

So that's you exclusively overtaking at McPhillamy and nowhere else then.

Someone blocked me back and forth all the way down Conrod.
The player in the lambo was doing the same thing.
Ridiculous. The game should be able to punish that.
For now a player does that to me it’s game on.

Yeah I saw it all, then they whined when you collected them. Like guys, you're literally swerving the entire width of the track all the way down, WHAT are you doing??

Have any of you figured out what the best non FF cars are for Mt. Panorama?

Why they neutered the Jag is beyond me. It was fine, I use dit all the time as it was only thing that could chase the FF cars but now, there's nothing. The Scirocco REALLY suits me too, there's a nice touch of lift off oversteer that helps me turn in.

Qualifying tips Bathurst.

Heads up Quarry is really called Griffins bend and it is Forrest's elbow after a guy scraped his elbow on the rocks there back in the day.

As for tips, you're faster than me but I find there's good time to be had through the cutting, seems to be so much more time there than we all think.

I ran 11.0 last night in the VW. I lost a race to a guy who ran 10.8 10.7 in race from first in the Megane. I will put some time in on q tonight. I was using tcs3 bb0.
There’s a lot of time to be gained at Griffins and the Cutting.
Tons of time in Forrests elbow, you have to partial brake early then brake full straight in mid track then super tight inside wall then flat very very early.
It’s important not to overslow into some of those uphill like the Chase entry and edit Griffins
It’s a case where you really have to nail each section. It’s a tough track. I’ve raced there a lot, I wish this race was 4 laps tho.
It’s crucial not to overslow not to use too much steering angle, and get on throttle early. The turns are hard to max out, and when you gain a few tenths you carry more speed so things are affected a little...
It’s a fun fun challenge. I personally use only right foot so no braking gassing at same time. So for me adjusting my entry speed with brakes is very important.
I tend to need to trail off a bit sooner then I want to carry more speed in. The ff like a bit of cone off brake sooner on entry than Fr.
I dunno what I can get but think my optimal just before my last entry was mid 10 with VW.
Stang was one second slower.

This week’s daily A has got to be one of the worst possible races one could come up with in the entire game. Gr.4 FFs on freaking Autopolis. To add insult to injury — every single car in standard livery. And we’ve had it relatively recently. Autopolis is a track that comes up frequently as well. Too frequent, I think.

Anything would beat it. Sarthe in a Sambabus. Even SSRX? OK, not that. But still, just awful.

Just curious, since you are good driving. Why do you use TCS 3 in Gr4 cars?

In ff it prevents the understeer wide. I use wheel. You can feel if TCS begins to limit power, this shows me my mistakes too, to help me drive smoother and faster.
It helps me use curbs more aggressively.
It helps me go to throttle as early as possible with worst fear getting tcs cutting a little power. I can adjust to find the sweet spot without spinning.
If I am contacted exiting a turn, and the contact upsets my car the tires don’t overheat and cause loss of control.
If I hang one wheel on grass it prevents spins and slides.
It allows me to push to maximum in my driving style that I use without fear, again worst thing to happen is it cuts power and slows me down.
This shows me instantly what I need to fo better.
So for me TCS 3 provides me a constant feedback loop or it’s like a teacher giving me a grade on every turn every lap.
Without it my driving gets sloppy my tires wear and overheat, or I get gunshy of the loud pedal lol you can’t have that. The loud pedal makes the car go!
I’ve raced a lot both without and with and at different levels.
For me I enjoy racing so much more just leaving the tcs at 3. I don’t like getting hit mid exit when I am on throttle with no possible way to react and my tires get overheated.
The computer prevents it.
The style has to be adjusted a little to work with the tcs3 but imo it’s just way easier and more fun for myself this way.
I’m honestly still faster and more consistent at tcs3 in gr4 than off.
I don’t have trouble with car control with it off at all, it’s just it honestly makes me faster, the way I drive, in my style.
Anyways jmo as always.
Also I don’t use it at all on like the Ferrari gr4. It’s a car by car basis. A lot of touring cars it’s a nuisance.
I’ll tell you what though I’ve done really well in the Toyota 86 with ::gulp:: TCS 3.

Kid you not!

Edit brag I’ve beaten Lewis Hamilton to get diamond on several tracks with tcs3 bb0.
It’s kind of my thing, the tcs. I like it.
I realize I will never be alien I don’t want to.
Playing this way is fun for me. I love being able to say I beat Lewis. Lol
Tbh once I figured out how tcs worked I realized how much easier it makes things and realized what is needed input wise to make times.

@Little_Guppy
I was able to get in 30 minutes. I hit my optimal 10.4 in the VW tcs3 bb0 and shared the lap up. Search tag tpc.
There’s an awful lot more there too if a person really wanted to tt a lot.

OK. I could not manage the BB+0 and TCS=3. No turn in. Too much to [un]learn.

Went with BB+3 (no change) and TCS=2. Gained two-tenths to 2:10.7. Impressive after a handful of laps.

There is something to the TCS for FF/Gr4. I felt the understeer on exit. In my mind that is a good thing. It is telling me that power is being applied from the tires to the road and I just need to manage it. I cannot sense wheel spin in third gear in normal mode (TCS=0).

I will continue with TCS=2 and see how far I can take it. And then switch back to TCS=0 and see if I can apply that new performance. There is something that I need to figure out.

But first, tomorrow morning, I am going to race with my new QT.

So, @Groundfish, why have you never mentioned this TCS thingee before?

Think on this, if you will...
TCS3 is better than 2.
Second, if you get on power on exit a microsecond too early, and ramp up the throttle to full at the proper rate for a given turn what happens?
A tiny sliver shows on the bar at first then the bar stays normal.
Do the same TCS0, the drive wheels slide and you understeer wide or fishtail in rwd.

I also want to ask one question.
What maximum speed is gotten at the end of Conrod and Mountain straight?
Conrod I think I only hit 161 mph, not quite 162.
People say you get killed on the shifts with tcs, well what speed no tcs is being hit in the VW?
Am I losing out that much? I dunno I haven’t watched any top tens.
I dunno. I’m out of Blue Moons now so I’m broke lol and I work manyana in the morning or I’d be racing. I struggle late in the day to race after working. The mind isn’t all there, or the energy.
I hope to see you at some point though to try to avenge the beatdown you handed out to me at Seaside :)

Edit no 162 mph end of Conrod only 139 into griffins but I held the gear instead of shift at the end.

There is a speed loss but it is inconsequential. First, it is tiny (I measure it by following a top ghost). Second, it is mitigated by a better exit speed.

At conrod my speed was 242 kph at the S3/S4 beep. Same. I find it is easier to measure based on a beep - one ear on the beep and one eye on the speedo.

I use tcs1 on the vw to curb wheel spin but I am ham fisted to say the least.

Found a full half second and qualified with a 10.9 at bathurst, not a perfect lap but it has me ranked 106 in America's and I am never that high, this would be my most competitive qualy time ever id say. GTBlade says I am faster than 85pc of A drivers, considering I am a high B, low A at best, I am punching above my weight.

The VW being dominant helps me as I really like it. When you lift off the brake she wiggles a bit, aiding turn in and I can really max out my apex speeds.

Decent racing tonight, guys much cleaner than yesterday.

Yes also to humble myself after my brags I honestly have trouble flowing the car continuously in the line using max track space and approaching the tires grip limit.
I’ve always had horrible penmanship.
Horrible flow.
I have poor fine motor control.
Tcs provides the feedback I need to keep on track.
I just have a hard time honestly steering the car correctly per fundamentals. I find it a huge challenge and without tcs I tend towards worse inputs if left alone in my natural state, more jerky and digital than analog and glowing.
It’s very difficult to me this continuous flow needed to really get the times.
Tcs gives me the feedback to let me know when I need to maybe slow and steady my steering...

Just when I say one and done for the week, yep, I jump back in.

DWG Gr.4 Vantage. 5th to 3rd to 5th. Stayed patient as a Megane, VW and RCZ battled ahead of me. An Atenza got battered and fell behind me. So did the Megane.
The Megane gets ahead, as I chose be be the cleaner driver.
Last lap, the Atenza gets a run. Through The Chase, it takes the right side line. Come now, it's not going to go well. We both brake deep. I stay hard left and back off so I don't run the Atenza off. It crosses in front of me, I slow a bit more and get the switchback on the right-hander exit. The VW jumps us both before Murray's and I finish with no CRB.

Race C in the 458. 14th to 7th. CRB.

6RH/7RM. Made the mistake of pitting Lap 6. It worked out, but one more lap before pit stop, may have got me 5th.
Paced myself as some cars fell off.
Pit same time as a 4C. I'm started on RM. I began catching it on the last three laps. Penultimate lap, it caught the two cars ahead. Helped to slow the 4C, so I could stack.
An RCZ that pitted a lap later than me, started to creep from 3.5 seconds to 1.8 seconds on the last lap.
4C tried to made an inside move on the C7 at the final turn. Almost gave me the spot, but it didn't go wide on exit. All three of us finished nose to tail.

Really have to quit while I'm ahead.

Earlier in the night, I had won this week's Daily Race A. It was my 119th daily race win and my 128 in Sport Mode overall.

Hi Joe, always like to hear from you.

In a race if you hit someone, even if it is an accident, you should pull over and give the spot back. It shows the other player that you did not do it on purpose.

Take it easy.

I've been getting decent results in a Veyron. Got a QT of 14.2xx in it and thats been putting me 3rd - 5th on the grid in DR C. Running tcs 1 bb+3 I've had a fair amont of podiums and front half finishes.
It's strong and stable and mostly resistant to punts.

I accidentally chose the Megane (never used it before) at Race A during a hurried start.. I thought it felt a bit weird! Started 3rd, P1 and P2 took each other off, then I just managed to stay ahead despite being a second slower than most of the RCZs behind. It felt pretty good around the twisty bits and more consistent for me (using controller)

Then tried the Scirocco and had one win, punted from 2nd to 12th on the next race and still managed to finish 3rd due to almost everyone else taking themselves out.

Really boring "race" and I made some dumb errors but posting to show how to race at Bathurst. He didn't try miracle passes across the top that ends in tears but when he lined me up I picked a line and stuck solid. He then returned the favour on the last lap, though chose a different line.

Ironically I think me keeping to the inside at the kink and NOT pushing him wide, which seems to happen more often than not, gave him the confidence to choose the outside line at the kink which gives him the inside at the chase.
