Back doing the Daily races again and when I first seen what was on offer for this week I wasn't too excited at all with 2 Gr.4 races and a Gr.3. then I thought Hmmm the unfortunately I have always managed to throw the RCZ around most tracks pretty well and I love Laguna and in GR. 3 I have won there before. Anyway if I lose DR due to some idiots like I did at Fiji over the weekend so be it, lets have some fun. I done decent qualifying times at all 3 tracks straight out and more to be gained if I do go again.

Only done race C 3 times and the first 2 where to workout which way to run H/M or M/H, did M9/H4 first and worked out ok apart from me collecting a few spinners along the way and receiving penalties. The H5/M8 was a disaster, tyres went way too early and I was on the receiving end of a few penalties from a few spinners and a incident on the 2nd last lap where the guy in front spun, I copied him trying to avoid him and the guy behind collected both of us which resulted in a 2sec penalty for me and a drop of 12 SR.

I hate losing SR late in the day so decided to go again to go again if only to restore my SR. This time it was back to starting on the mediums for 8 lap stint and only pitted to try undercut the guy ahead as he stayed out. I got me closer to him and into 3rd place until the leader met me as he was doing donuts on the finish straight before he quit so I guess he lost it out of the last corner and was p****d and he quit. Chased down the leader and piled on the pressure and we both where on the same tyres and he lost it under pressure on the 2nd last lap and I took it home for win 25 and back to full SR so happy days again.

As @RacingGrandpa states BB+5 is not a "given" FF cars. It is normally is when there is tire wear but not at other times.

At RBR I used BB+5 in the RCZ all week. Then on Sunday I adjusted to BB+3 and immediately gained two tenths per lap.

At Bathurst in the VW I am using BB+3. I tried BB+5 but I got some oversteer at "The cutting". I am taking a high line trying to keep the min speed as high as possible in third gear.
I see - I'll have to try +3 and simply see what happens. Either way, I'll generally need to do some experimentation.

In the end a good day but frustrating how I got there.
Race A.
Last time we had the combo I had good results in the TT so went that route to start off with.
Qualified 3rd. Got a good start and settled in behind the top two. Pulled away slightly from those behind having a battle.
Lap 3 and 2nd went wide in the first hairpin and I outdragged it to the next corner. However they got the run on me into the next hairpin and went for the move. I gave space so it was fine. However the car behind decided to go for the lunge as well and knocked me aside. I wasn't happy about that. I then had a scruffy lap where I lost another place and finished 5th. Not bad, but could have been better.

Race B.
Wasn't a fan of everybody wanting to use the FF's here. (I thought we had passed that + you have an actual FF race next door.) So I took out the F-Type. Qualified 9th. Immediately got overtaken along the Mountain Straight by 10th. It all seemed quite tame up front as I was hoping on some argy-bargy to make positions. Last lap and I get a wobble coming down from Skyline and clip the wall out of the Dipper. This puts 11th behind me into Forest Elbow. He just about pulls alongside into the chase as I force him to the outside. A car ahead has gone off. I brake and they try to cut across. This ends with them running wide after hitting me. I may have been a bit forceful but so were they. I fear a punt into Murrays but it never comes and I finish in the 9th I started. This doesn't feel as fun as it should be. Shame.

Race C.
Won a Beetle from the wheel Friday and decided to give it a run out here. Qualified 7th. Managed to get the car ahead into turn 5. Two cars were battling up the hill. The AMG went narrow and wobbled over the sausage. This meant I tapped them into the sand. 2 seconds for me. Only lost the place I gained on lap 1 to the penalty. However on chasing them down they got on the gas out of the Corkscrew too early and had an easy pass into Rainey Curve as they twitched. Settled into 4th at this time. Guys behind pitted from Hards. I went another lap to get rid of my meds. Came out and they were now only a few seconds behind. It was a case of getting on with it. I was caught. I managed to fend off the Frenchman for a lap including an attempt to dive up my closed door into the final corner. (Some people!) Thankfully the sausage must have hurt them. They eventually got passed as I went too deep through the penultimate corner and let them through. Last lap and a car battling for the lead is in the gravel turn 3. So in the end I get the 4th place I was sat in for most of the race.

Think I’ll enter a B race or two and see what’s up...
Hmm a 2 second pen is minus seven sr at least.
A non crb race (wall scrape) is plus 4 sr on b.
I’m going to do a c race to try to recover plus 90 sr.
Cant flash the headlights pre race...

Oof rough night.
I outbraked myself at the chase once and just got hammered right off from like tenth to last by a known problem child lol.
The mountains fun, but tonight it’s been liquid fuel plus Mountain 2-and me nothing.
At least my sr is good and earlier I went last to third at Laguna Seca. It was ridiculous everyone got pens except myself chugging along on the driving line haha.
The driving line at Laguna Seca is my secret weapon lol nobody’s on it! They are off in the sandbox!
Going in again, contemplating filling my tank with a fourth pint of blue moon.
BEWARE THE IDES OF FISH BAHAHAHA

I can't say I'm liking the new penalty system. After 2 races at Fuji on Sunday, where (I swear!) I didn't hit anyone, my SR dropped from 93 to 69. I got hit from behind a number of times, where I got a 1 second penalty, and they got 2 seconds, but that isn't my fault. Tonight I raced 2 times in the A race, trying to build SR. First race had me and another A rated guy gridded 1 & 2 with him on pole. We got a good start and started to pull away, but at the start of lap 2 he slowed more than expected into T1 and I hit his bumper. He slid a bit, but didn't go off or really slow much. I got a 1 second penalty. Other than that, I had a clean race. I lost 7 SR points. Gained back 5 with the next race, a 3 star win, and my 150th on my main account. Even though I hate FF, I do like the track, and it will probably be my best way back to 99.

I have a generally similar routine for daily races. If it's a track I don't know well, or cars I haven't driven much, I try and do a minimum 30 minutes of FP before inflicting myself on others. But if I'm familiar with the track and in cars I know, I will do about 15 minutes of qualifying to get a feel and then jump in. I'm almost always somewhere in the back half of the grid and I try and take it easy, sound out strategy (in Race C) and see how the vibe is. On Tuesday night or a bit later in the week I'll look at lap guides (Thanks @Mistah_MCA and @Tidgney ) and try and eek a few extra seconds (or tenths) to get nearer the front.

I have always marvelled at the people on here who jump in, seem to do one flying lap and immediately have the pace to start near the front.

This week, I broke with tradition and decided I'd jump into Laguna Seca (a track I know reasonably well) in a car I've never driven (Gr3 WRX). I ran 2 qualifying laps before the lobby matching and landed in a lobby of A/S, B/S drivers (I'm currently high B) to find my 2nd lap 21.7xx qualy time had me Q2!?! I've run 4 races last night and this morning and it seems this wasn't a fluke. I've won 2 of the 4 races and been in front in the other 2 before getting punted off. There are a few combos where I have been more competitive than usual, but this is the first time I've ever found myself consistently at the pointy end from the start.

The weirdest thing is, I'm not really a huge fan of Laguna Seca and I wouldn't have ever considered it a strong track for me. I'm now trying to work out how I can free up some extra time this week to maximize my new found expertise. :D

I watched a couple of this week's races youtube videos and even the streamers are dirty.

Some of the guys on twitch are awful when it comes to race craft and I wouldn't really call them streamers in the true sense. I only watch 2 or 3, Tidgney, Super GT and did watch Ollie but his OMG started to get to me. I did setup Twitch but what's the point in just streaming your race without having great communication with your fans while doing it, so I only ever streamed 2 races, not in a good setup to stream as I have another gamer (my son) sitting 6 feet from me and he very vocal and I would need a bleeper.

Tidgney gets my vote as you can always get a good laugh and he is a serious racer but still great fun to watch.

A lot of places to lose a bunch of time there with a small mistake...
My fault but I am using the d-pad so i cannot mico correct my line, I have to be pixel perfect when i turn in as i am effectively turning in at full lock every time. So a sort of Alonso style of point, aim and CHUCK it in hard, really hard. So if i am a titch off it's all over and i need to lift. So for example the right after the cutting, i either nail it or my lap is ruined.

Yesterday’s races weren’t bad actually.
I switched cars to the VW and gained about a second on q time.
I’m not done with the Megane yet though.
I was penalized when I made bad moves.
Pen system of course though didn’t do anything to the player that rammed me off in the chase. He got out of shape, I was pulling by him, he full door slammed me so hard I hit the wall.
No penalty.
There’s several players currently on my list marked for punt.
I made an over optimistic lunge to the inside entering Conrod, had a punt I did, and there was another contact. I was penalized every time.
It will be interesting to see how the update does...

The lack of patience is remarkable. SOme guys from certain parts of th world are naturally FAST, like really fast, yet when they catch you it's push, shove, nudge, push etc. Dude, just pass me! WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO PASS ME THROUGH MCPHILLAMY????? Line me up at the elbow, pass me down conrod, it is that simple.

Man.

I noticed yesterday a LOT of weaving when defending, like a LOT. Then they get upset when you punt them. Dude, pick a line. They don't understand race rules, you can't swing left and right defending down conrod.

Re: conrad...

... or in the middle. It is asking for trouble. That track is so narrow. Some racers get it... and pick a side.

It is OK when the track is wide, like Fuji, and it is a legitimate defense to pick the middle. Not so when the track is just two-wide.

Just want to share one of my best race from last week Race A at Tsukuba. Started 2nd and manage to get in front after turn 1. I know the polesitter has more pace than me, it's only a matter of time before he regain first. So he's right on my tail and me at the front trying to stay there I overdrive the car a bit too much. By lap 3 he manage to get me but I put a good fight till the end.

Here is one full lap of door to door racing without a single contact on a tight track in a car that want to kill you!

I'm the white car.

Conrod. Just because I happened to take a picture of a sign yesterday. :D

Tidgney and MistahMCA are the best, i watch their videos every week.

Honestly huge thanks for the love . Just do what I can to help out and like to have fun as much as I can :D!

Have any of you figured out what the best non FF cars are for Mt. Panorama?
I tried a few laps this morning in the Ferrari, and the lap times were not very competitive with the times that I've seen posted.
It's bad enough that I have to use front-wheel drive cars at Autopolis. I'll be damned if I'm gonna use one at race B also (I dislike them, very much).

The Stang is stable, unremarkable. The Lambo might not be too bad.
It’s hard to compete with ff, there. The ff are so fast in a line. For non ff gr4 I always go Stang. Gr4 it’s tough to find a car. I love driving the Rarri, but not on the Mountain it’s too slow.
