That was a PSYCHO CHARGER!
Fabulous footage!
You're just not ever going to see that again, cars are so planted, they are running 2.03's in qualifying now. Back then though, you could force the car through sheer will and talent.

I am not sure anyone outside the country understands the impact of Peter Brock, he transcended motorsports and was legit quick at Bathurst, arguably quickest of the all, winning 9 x1000's.

Race B. Started 8th in the “this room is so fast there’s 09.4 on pole”
Lap 1 race ruined by idiot RCZ.
Rammed him to last.
I was looking strong first lap in the Mustang until cars fought ahead at the chase I lost time cutting off track on the right hander to avoid and get through.
The RCZ made it clean behind me and had the run so I went defensive, so he went onto the grass inside and we had a little pushing contest then turn 1 I full punted him.
He later got ahead and I got him again last lap approaching Forrests elbow
Players like him ruin everything. :(
I actually spent time practicing and was in a good zone, running low 11 nicely.
I had a good start good turn 1 I was looking good up into sixth and this gosh darn fool had to start things.
I’m so frustrated.
I’m just going to enjoy a frosty cold beverage.
I may enter again in the Veyron or something. I just can’t stand it when people go Mariokart
IM DEFENSIVE! I’m AHEAD! I OUTQUALIFIED YOU! THE GRASS ISNT PART OF THE TRACK YOU MENTAL MIDGET!
Each time this happens I appreciate racing ai more and more on other platforms.
Number one BOP in gr4 is broken, number 2 the penalty system is broken...

Edit
That clip blew my mind Nev. That guy was straight PSYCHO.

I don't want to derail this thread, but this video shows why he was so loved and respected. This is 10 years before the previous video. He is mid-race, working his way back through the field and lapping as fast as anyone on the track. He was just always composed and unflustered. An Australian sporting icon.

(it's also a pretty good lap guide)

I just want to thank you for showing something so absolutely awesome!
It picked up my spirits, watching that, that’s for sure!
What an amazing racer! I can’t tell you how cool it is to see a man like that ply his craft!
I’m so glad I’m on this board to get the opportunity to learn about heroes like that man.

OMG turn 1 lap 1, it is SO HARD to judge eh. So easy to get it wrong wither way. You all need t tune into the 1000 every october and admire the pros hauling 700HP and 1300KG worth of taxi cab through there. Bugger all downforce and skinny tyres, it's madness.

This is worth a watch, it's total genius, Peter was the absolute master. Look at the lack of grip :eek:

Watch carefully at the chase, she gets seriously wobbly, brown undies stuff. The 2.16 was actually competitive back then, V8 and all.

- Crazy how stiff it is to pick up the front wheel so far.
- old school mountain with bare rock faces as the track edge
- is that a stock commodore dash (@1:10)?
- there were several brown pants moments in that

------

On topic... I shouldn't have turned the playstation on tonight. Race A, started third. Knocked sideways at the second hairpin by accident, but the guy behind that thought it would be a good idea to finish the PIT move for fun. Dead last. Caught back up to the pack and got 2sec penalty for bumping a guy under brakes, then got brake checked for another SR down.
Next race in the lower SR lobby - on pole. Disconnected near the end of lap 1 with a 2sec lead. 4.75 laps of racing for -1500DR and -19SR.
Also, in 183 starts I've had 3 disconnections - 2 of them have been while in the lead from pole.

Good night of racing, quite clean really, guys trying not to hit each other and respecting the "pressure but no passing between the cutting and forrests elbow" rule.

Solid week pace wise, this is as fast as I've ever been, legit racing with A drivers in S rooms and finishing top 5 or 6.

In regards to the footage above, channel 7 pioneered racecam, it was brilliant back in the day. Dick Johnson (one of blocks nemesis) was extremely good at talking and maintaining pace.

After a few weeks of barely touching the game due to a complete lack of interest in the combos on offer, i had to run the mountain this week. I really enjoy mt. Panarama, but i hate fwd, so it's a bit of a wierd one tbh.

The scirocco actually feels pretty good here, and i cant seem to compete against it with any of the rwd cars i like. Have had some really good and clean races this week, at the back and mid pack, i just do not have the pace in these cars to compete at the front. My qt is 11.2 and my opt is 10.8, but i just cant seem to be any faster. Oddly, I'm under my average % off the leaders, but race cars are a weakness for me, as is fwd....

Anyway, hope to get some more in over the next few days, hope to see some of ya out there.

Definitely running the nord next week, feels like we haven't seen the green hell for a long time in the dailys

I’m tired of this ff domination in gr4.
It’s so bad now that if you choose fr they try to shove you out of the way!
I shared last nights race under tag tpc.
I was planning on running some races, having fun, I practiced up and that happened. Nope not one more entry. Look at what that guy did.
I’m already way left in defense, but he had to stick his car up in there where there’s no line at all.
Infuriating. I’m sooooo tired of people going arcade like that. As you can see from the replay, it’s not tolerated by me for one second!
That player knows exactly what he was doing. Make no mistake. These guys in these rooms can race clean, they have the car control, they simply decide instead to be dirty and ruinous to others.
I just can’t take it and I fail to understand why the game is so lenient about giving pens.
It is maddening. I am going to start keeping track of how many races people make dirty moves on me vs races that stay clean.
Because I have been hit in at least 70 percent of my entries over the last couple months.
Shoot the percentage would be higher except FIA races were clean.
The top rooms on NA are a complete cluster.

Edit you know, at least at 99, there was a long time in this game where you were almost assured of clean racing.
Ever since they lightened up on penalties it’s completely ruined my experience of daily races.
The top room on NA is terrible. It’s arcade.
All the people on you tube complaining about getting penalties for contact have succeeded in changing PDs ideals of clean racing and dragged down the standards of top room sportsmanship at release to a lawless arcade mess!

Frustratingly, there's no way to do a fuel economy test for the N24 race, next week.
I tried Custom Race, but the multipliers won't go high enough.
I tried creating a lobby race, but it won't let me do a Q lap on my own (didn't want to involve anyone else).
Is there a way to do it solo, that I'm not thinking of?
I think it's pretty dumb that we can't do whatever we want to in the Custom Races. :grumpy:

Doesn't practice mode in a lobby work for what you need?

My personal hate move at Bathurst is when I take a defensive line up mountain straight, i will stick n pick early and not waver, but certain folks decide the grass on the inside is fair game.

Lunatics.

I don't think there's fuel burn in practice.

Sorry, may sound like a silly question. But doesn't a lobby give you access to all settings?

With the tyre wear settings.

For the sake of quali practice, just switch off the fuel consumption (since there is no fuel consumption in quali)

So in essence you can come out of the pits, run your warm up lap and then a practice quali lap.

Then switch on the fuel consumption and run the right number of laps to do race practice.

Just saw @spacedustdaddy rocking the 86 at Bathurst… how’d it go?
Well, I had to thank The Lord the Scirocco behind me couldn't maximize its speed to catch me. It only had one red bar.
I started 11th, with no problem at the start. A player I see from time to time, in an F-Type ahead.
The Scirocco got passed by a WRX. That maintained my gap between 1-2 seconds clear of cars behind. On lap Lap 3, an M4 ahead, got crossed up after The Cutting and hit the rear corner of an RCZ. It then hit the wall in the ledt. F-Type dodged it clearly on the right. I was pinned to the right, as it's out of control skidding from my left. I juuuuust made it past, with side to side contact, me kissing the wall on the right. No penalty.

Never kept my eyes forward so long, for the whole race. Didn't look behind once or use the track map. Closed up in the Jag with some deep braking, but wasn't risking anything. Finished P10.

Top speed is only around 255kmh, but it didn't feel like it was struggling. Just tossed the thing where it needed to be placed. :)

Start a practice/ race lobby. As soon as you create it press start race. That might work.

Make a very unwelcoming title for the room? Or, just take the risk. The track is big. No one will get in your way for practice laps.

Hello and welcome to The Scirocco Daily Championship.

Joining the bandwagon with Daily A and the race was good. With the end of last week Race A and this week I manage 18 CRB, a new record.

This morning I went for Race B also in the Scirocco and race mid-pack. I need to grow a pair for this track, my time of 2.12.5 feels slow. I was in the same room as @Dairyworker but he was up front getting podium finish. His time is more than a second faster than mine so I barely race him. Good to see you on track, it's been a long time we ended up in the same room.

Looking foward for N24 next week!
