4th place from 10th in qualy at Laguna Seca, very pleased with that. Might not be the outright fastest but years of driving this track have me very consistent over how ever many laps they want to throw at me. Only a small chance of going off or spinning unless forced into it by someone else and the way this tracks spaces out nicely over the distance means you can (generally) stay out of trouble.

They've given us a real workout on a wheel this week across these 3 tracks. Are you trying to tell me something PD. 😫

..., why not N24 GR.1. It's been too long!
Glad you mentioned that. I often wondered what would be the most maniacal combo for a daily. I figured the Gr 1 Nord would be it. In practice though, the Gr 1 cars are well suited and looks like fun....

So... in my quest for the most maniacal combo, at the Nordschleife, I switched to the FT-1500 (old Formula 1 1500 cc turbo) and amped it up to about 1000 HP. While it is somewhat manageable at 500 HP the 1000 HP variant is unmanageable and I cannot do a clean lap, further, I have not been able to beat my Gr 1 laptimes but it should be much faster. It layers turbo lag on top of incredible downforce and turning ability. Really hard!

So, yeah, bring on Gr 1 at the Nord. I will be there.

More fun times at Dunlop corner. These two in the mirror, the twins in yellow, the moron bros, had been shoving people around, forcing them off track and generally being a nuisance so I knew exactly what was coming going down the hill. Made sure I pulled way out wide and ..

They're nothing if not predictable

Try some N1000 cars on sport tires on the Nord ;)

I'm still waiting for a GR.C endurance race at night in heavy rain on the N24, GT7 better deliver!

One race and done for me tonight, and the rest of the week for that matter. I’m in P8 to start and pit lap 1 as there is some massive fighting going on ahead of me. Come out of the pits and cruise around in P10, before all the pit stops are made, until I get punted in the final corner on lap 6 and that was the end of it. The other driver made no attempt to avoid the collision looking at the replay. Straight into the back of me. Absolute stupidity they get away with that without a penalty. I can’t keep the car on track to save my life afterwards and I am fuming the rest of the race and finish P12.
Next Week:
A: N300 | Tokyo Expressway - Central Outer Loop | 5 laps | SH
B: Gr.3 | Monza - No Chicane | 4 laps | RM
C: Gr.1 | Suzuka | 10 laps | RS/RM | x2 fuel, x7 tyres
I’ve learned my lessons in the past and will not be racing at Monza this time. I don't want any part of that that mess going into the "first" chicane. People can't navigate it in the first place most of the time. I can't imagine 16 cars all trying to get through that. Suzuka might be my choice next week. It depends if I can get a decent pace in the Gr.1 cars. I'm guessing I will be able to with the softer tire compounds.

Urrrrrhh both the stupid gt sport app and thr stupid ps app removed the "activities" section so the screenshot i took of my time trial times is not on my phone and I ain't getting out of bed.

Long story short, ran a 38 flat in the mclaren, ford gt just a 10th behind. I actually think in the Ford has more innit with the right driver, I am a bit ham fisted with it. They were the only 2 cars to top 280kmh.

Next fastest was the vantage but it really suites me so a bit misleading, others will get more from thr vette.

I like to bring out the F1 Merc occasionally and do some laps on the Nurb. Shows you just how powerful and engineered these machines really are.

So far I can do 5:40 clean, and 5:20 would be my optimal if I could get that as a clean lap (supersoft tyres tho). I'd be really curious to see what top players could do with that.

Starting without a Q time, I caught, and passed the leader (cleanly) on the first turn of the final lap.
At turn 4, as you will see, he shoved me out of his way to retake the lead. No problem. I continued to race him cleanly, as I had an ace up my sleeve. I gave him the old sturk Fuji special at the final turn. Look at him flashing his headlights.

He and the third place finisher both freaked the hell out in the post-race chat. Track limits.... blah blah blah.....
But here's the deal: If all it took was one F, and even if I had a pocket full of Fs, guess what?
I still wouldn't give one.

@Pigems I just tagged you to see if you're still here. :)

That was an actual LOL and one of the best things I've seen here for a long time!

If I had only known that was the key to a fast third sector at Fuji... could have come in handy a long time ago.

I think he was 'saluting' your excellent move with those headlight flashes.

(and if he has a problem with track limits, you'd think he'd have a problem with the four times he made contact with erratic lines on the prior part of the lap... but ok)

(PS that car looks BA in that dark bronze color)

You may have just inspired me to run some dailies this week after all... hadn't been keen on them at all, but I think I actually did well last time that combo came up, even at a track I hate.

I used to do that often, as a 'palette cleanser' and to keep my reflexes sharp (while also helping to develop muscle memory for the 'Ring).

My best in the "Mercedes-AMG F1 W08 EQ Power+ 2017" is 5:22. I'm by no means a 'top player' but my K' speed score is about 80 and I'm typically decent around the 'Ring when Daily events come up, so it's probably in the middle of the pack. I never really got too obsessive about the best time I could pull off, so much as repetition.

I actually earned that car in a wheel spin! Crazy enough...

(and PS to the moderator: sorry for the double-post... didn't realize mine was the most recent when sitting down again to post reply here)

Right. The F1 Merc is the Lewis Hamilton special car, correct? https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/news/00_3051615.html

I have tried that one a few times Suzuka and Red Bull Ring. With those combos (curvy track and 8 geared car) I switched to auto otherwise I was doing so much shifting that it felt like I was riding a bike.

I accept your challenge will shoot for a clean lap on the Nordschleife.

It isn't actually faster. I've proven it in qualifying.
But when you need to get by someone who is guarding the inside, it can work.
I don't normally run that wide line during the races. The person hugging the inside will get a slow exit. When I follow them, they usually just end up blocking me on the straight.

Watch half the field trying to go in the chicane at Fuji. I'm the one who lost the most.

In other news, Race C is going good for me. I still have my recon lap (1.24) of monday morning so there is a lot to gain. Consistently lapping in high 1.23 and pit as late as possible. 1 win and plenty of + 8-10 places gain to finish close to top 5. Also there is a couple of new dirty driver on my black list, but my pit strategy help me avoid them but not everytime.

They're nothing if not predictable

That is funny lol.

It reminds me of a video (nature though):

(how it was able to already generate such speed already is beyond me, but it's só similar)

@Tandem21 , @KosmoKazi ,

OK. I ran some laps:
  • Nordschleife,
  • AutoTransmission,
  • no tuning,
  • Racing SuperSoft Tires,
  • TCS=2,
  • Mercedes F1 Lewis Hamilton car.
5:18.8.

There are still a few seconds for me but I doubt I could hit 5:10.

I think this would be an excellent combo. It takes some practice but is the combo is achievable for most players.

Ran a couple "B" races. The 1st race I did pretty well. I started 6th and finished 3rd. I also got a clean race award. I HAD the fastest lap, until the final lap when the 1st place car beat it by less than .2 of a second.

The 2nd race wasn't so good. I started 8th and finished 10th. On the 3rd lap, this RCZ came flying through a corner and shoved me pretty hard to take my spot. I stayed with him through the rest of that lap and into the final lap. I was about to pass him, when I got hit, again, which caused me to run a bit wide. I lost some time, and was passed by the person who hit me. I caught up to them, but then I hit someone who'd gotten a bit sideways coming out of a corner (nowhere to go, really; they were just right in front of me as they were getting sideways). They hit me broadside and sent me off the track (this was at the 4th turn in the esses). I got back on track as quick as I could, but I was subsequently passed by 3 other cars, putting me down to 10th.
SOMEHOW, I got another clean race award. And for my trouble, I was called a pig in the chat after the race. I think it was from the person whom I hit and then they hit me broadside. The thing is, they never lost any positions over that whole thing. I'm the one who caught the bad end of it. By them hitting me in the side, it kept them from going straight across the track and losing positions.

Ran a few "B" races. I started 10th, 8th, and 7th; finished 8th, 6th, and 4th. Overall, they were pretty clean. Plus, I didn't have any penalties in any of the races. There was only a couple times where some door banging was going on. It was like a 4-5 way fight for position. A couple cars didn't make it through the fight and wound up either spinning or off the track. I made come clean passes and overall did pretty well. I knocked a couple more tenths off my qualifying time, but it still wasn't enough to put me closer to the front for the start. I'm just a little over 3 seconds behind the fastest time in my region; so I think I'm doing pretty well, considering.

Plus, I'm up to 9000 (dead even) DR points, so I'll hopefully jump up to B sometime tomorrow.

I noticed you said later it's not actually faster, I tried this myself and gained nothing unfortunately 😂

I had hoped maybe the oddness of it might have put the guy off if nothing else.

It just came together so perfectly in your run, a replay to treasure for sure.

Ran a "C" race (used the Beetle with a Halloween livery, lol). I started 18th (dead last) but finished 11th. I had no penalties, pitted at the end of lap 10 (for the unnecessary pit stop), and got a clean race award. Overall a decent outing for my first time racing on that track against actual drivers. I think I can do better on my times with a different car; but I like the Beetle and can drive it well. Plus I did the livery for today just so I could race it, lol.

Ran a few Race C's today, 2nd is the best I could muster, qualy times are obviously at peak now and I can't get back into that top 5 / top 8 space to challenge properly. I really enjoyed these longer runs at Laguna, great circuit for building a rhythm and training consistency. Love the elevated kerbs inside most apexes, if you're on the apex there's no one pushing through inside here which is very welcome given the rest of the combos we've had recently. Races space out nicely and I've had some good lap time battles across the attempts.

I'll miss this one!

Virtually every race I've been in has been won by a Beetle this week, so I finally decided to try it today. Knocked half a second off my QT, started 14th, pitted end of lap 1, and finished 2nd!

Wish I'd tried it earlier in the week......

Good racing this week at Laguna Seca, better than expcted I must say. Spend the week in the Suby and did one last session of Qualification to see what time I can get. 1.22.097 is the time.

This overtake is definitively the highlight of the week and probably one of my best overtake in a long time.

Next week Race B on Monza is a no go for me. The inevitable punt on first chicane and the Sprint Race type will not end up with a smile on my face.

You will find me somewhere in Japan.

Corkscrew pass is best pass.

Did 4 Race C's today with the Subaru after a couple of races on Monday with the Renault. Struggled with consistency in the Renault but was much happier in the Subaru, was able to lap consistently in the mid to low 24's. Despite not starting higher than 11th I managed to improve my position in every race and even managed a 2nd place in my last race, was in the net lead for around 6 laps before a mistake at T3 on lap 12 let the eventual winner past.
