I did 5 races in Interlagos and it's done for me. Push for the win is the norm for race B.
I did one final race there, today. And it was a bit more pushy than the other ones the past couple days. There seemed to be 1 or 2 that were just pushing everybody out of the way and bullying their way through turns. And they were using others as a shield so they could take a turn at higher speeds without running off the track. Which, in turn, would cause the other driver to run wide and go off the track.

I shouldn't have done any qualifying this week; didn't get much time to lay down laps at all and that could hurt my K-score (which I normally wouldn't care about, but it's probably a good metric to measure improvement).

That said, I managed a 1:41.3xx in interlagos which should put me within the 4% range of the top time, and I'm pretty happy with that given the current goal is to get to around 5%.

Laguna killed me though, as I didn't get to revisit it after doing 1:29, which isn't great at all. K-score should still improve despite this? Well, there's always next week at least...

Hate this time of the week. Stuck at work another 7 hours but there's new races

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

GT Sport Daily Races: Orient Express

Although much of the world is changing its clocks this week, the new set of Gran Turismo Sport Daily Races is right on time as usual. This week’s three races will see players tackling two tracks in Japan, and going flat-out in Italy for the next seven days...

Did 1 Race A. Went OK. Started 5th/finished 7th.

Was hoping everyone else would get like 30 seconds in wall penalties. But no such luck.

@Tandem21 , @KosmoKazi ,

OK. I ran some laps:
  • Nordschleife,
  • AutoTransmission,
  • no tuning,
  • Racing SuperSoft Tires,
  • TCS=2,
  • Mercedes F1 Lewis Hamilton car.
5:18.8.

There are still a few seconds for me but I doubt I could hit 5:10.

I think this would be an excellent combo. It takes some practice but is the combo is achievable for most players.
Went back and looked... my 5:22 was on Softs... I forget sometimes there is a super-soft.

Those things are like cheat codes... ran a 5:10, still have some in the tank but I can't find the energy to obsess, though it's a hella fun challenge to push it through the first and then the back sections... you can just keep adding throttle in turns and it sticks, with those tires and the aero.

And: made the Porsche Gr1 car feel like a snowplow when I jumped into Race C...
Suzuka in the Gr1!! Sounds tasty... Looking forward to Race C this week after a quiet one last week.
Can confirm: a lot of fun. Was matched in the 'top split' in the first race I tried today, even on Alt-Alt account with only 20k, but still had a great race, though I think the trendy strategy is to start on M's and then switch to the Softs midway, because I was held up for 4th place and then had a hard time defending 5th to finish there, though I did. Grabbed 1000 DR, which was pretty massive payout for a 5th place. Not that I want a ton of points on that account, but was interesting.

But IT IS HARD to pass in this race... the aero wash is massive and there are really limited opportunities to take advantage of a draft.

Just had a look at the q times for all 3 races. Is it just me or are the times already EPIC?

As it stands, this week oi’ll Be mainly driving a tractor Farming or roaming the wastes in Fallout.

Ah, made a mistake, the time was 1:40.479, which is a 4.642% gap. Very nice. Laguna is an 11% gap though and that did make my K-score drop, unfortunately. x_x

Anyway, Monza, Suzuka, Tokyo! This week should be exciting...

The less said about Race A the better.
An understeery car in one of the worse tracks in the game. Was not fun.

Suzuka, now this is my cup of tea. Qualified 5th. Made no mistakes (which was surprising as I ran wide out of Degna 1 once.) 2 others were not so lucky who went off in front of me into Degna 2. So 5th to 3rd in the end and only 5 seconds of P1. A good race.

Monza. For an MR the F1 does not want to turn half the time. Qualified P2 and deciding not to go 2 wide through Curva Grande lap 1 meant P3 could have a dive into Della Roggia and from there I went wide between the Lesmo's and picked up a rediculous penalty through the Della Roggia on another lap meant I was down to P12ish sharpish. Thankfully others had issues and I was able to steal 6th off a Spaniard off the line due to their 1 second penalty. I know I can do a better race here.

Had time for a few laps after a couple of great Daily Race C's (1st, 2nd in B/S lobbies on Alt-Alt at 20k DR, with @dlshearon starting from the back and showing well without a QT... what a fun race! The undercut is pretty good, if you are anywhere from 2nd back, in the aero wash it's almost the only chance you have to pass the pole sitter if he doesn't make a mistake)

Ran a 5:09 at the 'Ring in that W08 on SS tires... what a challenge!

Staying away from the daylies this week. I hate monza with a passion as it’s always a punt-fest. I suck at group 1 and I rarely do any race A’s.

Still plenty to do tho. Gotta figure out how to tame the Gr3 Ferrari for this weeks manu…. And I need to FINALLY commit The Ring to memory for next week.

Say….what’s everyone’s opinion of the Gr.4 Mclaren? I’m thinking of choosing that as my late entry Manu car on my US alt. I like racing offbeat cars and the GR3 F1 isn’t as understeery as I remember….and an absolute breeze of a car to drive compared to the 458 😑

Monza is faster than I thought it would be and I suspect we'll be seeing some tight times through all driver ratings. I fairly easily put down a 1:40.007, and that was good enough for a 3rd spot start in the one race I did. Managed to make 1st and of course the two behind me had to go and punt me into the sand. Crawled up from last place and finished 8th. Piss off punters.

Suzuka is a bit nuts. Fast car on a fast sweeping track makes for some easy spin outs. It's a good combo though and a better showcase of skill than this week's monza.

No to the Tokyo course from me, just a big meh. Fair play to those who can master these and make good times but success in these always feels like 'gaming' to me rather than driving, perhaps it's easier on a controller?

Monza was pretty fun, ran it in the Chevy then the Mustang and noted it's a shame to see we already have a meta car emerging in the Mclaren, always prefer variety myself but we'll see how competitive I can remain through the week in my personal faves. I will certainly take 14th to 4th though as everyone it seems had decided to follow a broken sat-nav and turn left at random moments.

Yes, I did brake for the chicane out of pure muscle memory the first time.

And I wasn't the only one.

Suzuka was a physical workout in the Porsche, very difficult to keep a smooth line through and on a track I typically love I found myself struggling a bit, especially in the esses and through Spoon. The 1 race I've had so far wasn't actually too bad I was running in 4th but caught some grass on the way round 130r and will have to be more attentive there next time, went flying off and span it pretty violently, 8th in the end but there's plenty of time left on track.

With these two and the Manu and Nations races this week there's a nice variety of series to play and tracks to enjoy so it should be a solid week for GTS.

Also Tokyo top qualy times only achievable by wall riding the last two turns by the looks of it.....

I am down to an 38.2 but to be competitive in S/A rooms I need to find another 3 tenths somewhere. There's so much potential for outstanding racing but the game has really deteriorated the past few weeks. I can't race like this, every corner is a crap shoot. I shouldn't need to take a defensive line with guys a full second behind me.

Monza. Did some Q laps in my F1 GTR with fresh Gulf livery. Managed a 38.4XX, and was on track for a 37.6XX but threw it all away at Ascari getting a little drifty on the right-hander. Lap times here are mad, but the F1 is solid when you get it right. Haven't been brave enough to jump into a race yet, but might do tonight.

Have you tried the Ford GT? In my testing last week I got it down to a 38.1, the F1 to 38.0 but I am sloppy with the twitchy Ford, if you're smooth, it has pace.

I've used it in the past and struggled - twitchy, as you say. I'll probably give it a try to see what it's like by comparison.
