Can't catch me! :P
@OJBrit Tag! You're it!

Nice to see @Barney Da Dog with some strong times there too!

Two quick races at Mount Panorama in the Genesis, with a qualifying session between the two races.

First race, Q8, sitting in P6 for most of the race tucked in behind a Veyron who punted a Scirocco early in the race. No idea what happened in the last lap up front, but a Scirocco hit the wall at Forest Elbow then quit, then I saw a bunch of cars in the dirt at the final corner and I came across the line in 3rd alongside a Huracan 0.022 behind me!

Set a much better Q time between races (screen shot above) and managed to get myself up to Q3. Messed up The Cutting on lap 1 and tucked in behind a Scirocco up over the hill. He messed up The Dipper and I tapped him into the wall. I tried to give him the place back but I think he quit and I was in 8th chasing couple of 458s and a Scirocco. Kept it pretty tidy and was very impressed with the manners of the two Ferrari drivers who both raced very fairly and moved over for me when I had the run on them on Conrod and at The Chase. Finished P6, but should really have been another podium.

Replay of the first race. I forgot about my off-road antics on the first lap!

My SR still goes up and down, but never for the right reasons. Race B had be down to SR.B due to people fighting and crashing into the walls in front of me. Back to SR.S after 3 C races.

First race C in low SR.B was pinball, 70% quit before the race was halfway done.
Second race C in high SR.B went better, still many quitters and got taken out by clumsy.
Third race C in SR.A, victory from 12th. It was a mess again, so I pitted in lap 2 to soft tires to get rid of the brawling cars in front of me. I caught up with the fighters in my out lap then smooth sailing from lap 3 on. The leader pitted in lap 4, didn't even have to overtake him. Back to SR.S after the race.

As for SR, I went from 47 to 82 in the 3 C races. None of them with CRB, always got rammed off track some where. I did get CRB on the mountain with an inexplicable 1 sec 'shortcut' penalty. I guess just a mm too close to the wall in the dipper.

I also got a 0.5 sec evasion penalty in race C, which costs almost 1.5 sec lost on the straight. I already slow down over the grass to evade a struggling car, but here's another 1.5 sec lost for your efforts.

Race C is exhausting though. Divers at every corner. It's faster to slow down for a corner, yet why bother when there is a wall to correct your course... That week where every touch of a wall on Tokyo was 1.5 sec was my best week (outside of N24). SR should be based on car control.

How are you even getting down to SR B? you are fast enough and skilled enough to be SRS, the current system makes it incredibly difficult to dip below sr90. My whole struggle with the game right now is I can't get off sr99 to save my damn life and keep being paired with aliens.

Two races tonight with not so good results. I did drop my qualifying time down to a 3:09.050 so that was a nice bonus to the night.

Race 1 I’m in a lobby of mostly A+/A drivers and @BigSarj in also in there who I haven’t’ seen in a race in a while. I’m P11 which was a surprise considering the level or drivers in the race. Anyway, I run wide in the turns with the tents in the middle and lose a bunch of spots, and then get punted in the 90-degree left-hander after those and fall way behind. I do catch up to some other drivers with a shot at a better finish, but I just clip the barrier going onto the bridge after that right-hand turn on to it. That kills my momentum and I eventually finish P13. I kind of hoped I could test my skills with the higher ranked drivers, but you can’t do that when you get punted early.

Race 2, back in a lobby of all B drivers, I’m in P6 to start. I don’t know what the problem was, but I would get stuck behind drivers who were slow in the corners, but I had no where to go and make a pass. I lost a ton of spots that way. Frustrating to say the least. I run wide again in the tent turns and spin thanks to dirty tires. Completely my fault, and I’m kicking myself that it happened. I’m dead last at this point and decide to race for more practice. Thanks to rage quits and others having some troubled, I crawl back to P12.

It’s a fun combo, but simple mistakes cost me some spots. I’ll do a few more races earlier tomorrow thanks to a half day from work. I don’t know if it will make a difference in racing quality, but I have some time so why not.

It's easy, don't qualify. In SR.S you get to start behind the slowest drivers mixed with the dirtiest (DR resets). Lap 1 is usually a game of pinball in the back in SR.S. If you can't avoid them all, it's -10 SR per bumper touch. The DR discrimination is still in full effect. DR.B taps DR.D, -10 SR. Race B has very little SR to gain, thus it becomes a one way street until SR.B where the back is actually fast and the dirty drivers don't get into accidents with the slower D/S folks.

I don't even get to start actually last anymore, the luxury of sitting lap one out no longer exists. In SR.S I start behind the slowest qualifying D/S players, in front of the dirtiest DR resets making their way back up.

Actually I rather stay out of SR.S, it's the worst place to race without qualifying. Matchmaking is the most broken there if you're not in the top split. So race B to get to race with faster people in lower SR, race C to get some fast races in before getting back to the slow starts in SR.S. It makes sense SR.S has the slowest people in the back, since you actually first need to be fast enough to hit someone to lose SR

I could of course qualify and simply drive out front, but I said I wouldn't until PD fixes the penalty system. I stand by my words! The last qualify time recorded on KP is September 6th 2020, which was on a Sunday evening to see where my time on the Nordschleife stood. Didn't race with it. It's a theme in my KP history, qualify on Sundays on Nord, N24 and sometimes Bathurst or Le Mans.

And yes, top split rooms get rather boring watching the gaps grow. While lower SR has a lot of dirt, it also has some diamonds. And starting in the back you'll meet both in every race. A fast B/B driver will leave you a lot more room than an A+/S driver. But that's just from my point of view, since I only meet A+/S drivers after they wreck / got taken out and are in a rage to get back to the front...

That was my first race in over a month and it showed. I'm happy to have stayed in the race for as long as I did. I also want to figure out how to get a faster quali time.

Yeah, getting a shortcut penalty here is probably the stupidest thing I have ever seen in any game ever. :banghead:

I swear everytime I drive behind one of those, I pray they don't make a mistake because then I know my race will be ruined by them either side-swiping me while I'm passing them or just diving on the inside and using me as a wall the first chance they get. I've actually made the mistake (again) of qualifying for race B this week. It's been a lot of pole to flag races in mid DR B lobbies but now DR A players started popping up. And what's worse, behind me. And because I use the WRX (I do not enjoy driving those FF cars, they're only quick in a straight line) and literally everybody else is using them (really great job on the BoP PD), I'm a very easy target on the straights. Needless to say since then I always finished well below my starting position. And not because I was slow or made a mistake. I'm basically just a moving wall that helps mitigating their severe understeer in corners, if you know what I mean. The racing standards have really gone down the toilet in this game. These players will straight up murder you for a position. And since there is no punishment for it anymore they won't even think twice about it. I love Bathurst but I'm probably done with it for this week. I refuse to drive an FF car and I hate having my race ruined over and over again by idiots.

OMG that dipper penalty, absolutely loathe it.

I use the WRX a lot at Bathurst too, it is a circuit well suited to AWD because the exit at the cutting is worth so much time as you carry that speed through the three fast left handers. Thing is, even though I can lap just about as fast as the FF cars with the WRX, I was being swallowed up on conrod, passing almost impossible.

Here's a half decent one from last night, tough crowd but turned good laps. The calamity I picked my way through on Lap 1 is something I saw coming a mile off. The Jag gets eaten up the mountain and the scirocco driver was super aggressive in previous races, i just had to pick a line to avoid the carnage and boom got it.

Kudos to the man in the white Megane I passed on the last lap, he defended but wasn't a tool about it, good racing. You can also see the massive time gain I get by being an animal into the dipper on the last lap.

Yeah these beautiful passes just aren't possible anymore.

Instead of that I now either get pushed off the side or they slow down a bit so they can bump me off at the bottom / use me to make the corner or 'tag' me so they can skip the corner and take a shortcut over the grass without penalty.

It's the same in race C, hang a nose just next to your bumper on the inside at the end of the straight or any corner coming up. You know you'll be used as a wall. Passing is now, put a nose on the inside apply gas in the corner and make sure the other car has no room at corner exit. And if the car in front of you goes wide so you can pass through the inside, they'll do everything possible to corner exit at the inside to try to push you into the grass, including spinning out by oversteering in a mad dash to block. Mirror block on the straights, try to push you off when you pass. It's quite funny, like watching magnets in action on the radar. Pass a blue triangle, blue triangle automatically veers towards you.

I drove all the FR, MR and FF cars on Bathurst so far. 4WD to go. FF is fast there but no fun to drive. Sirocco is plain OP in acceleration and braking, yet can't steer and is a block up the mountain. Horrible car, but it's everywhere. Another reason why I prefer lower SR races, lot more varied grids. Top lobbies are all Meta cars, in lower lobbies Siroccos still win (always a dirty fast driver on pole) but the back is a great mix of everything the game has to offer. Business in the front, party in the back

I just posted a perfectly clean pass through the chase literally in the post above yours.

The Scirocco is not the Meta, it is shared with the Megane. The VW actually turns in quite well, it is quite nimble, but the Megane has the legs in acceleration, especially where torque is involved up mountain straight.

Same! I had some pretty civilized Racing last night against two Ferrari drivers, both of them very generous with giving space seeing me being much quicker on the straights.

Exactly. I had a race yesterday where a Megane was almost a second behind me coming out of Forrest's Elbow. By the time I reached The Chase it was on my bumper. If that's not OP then I don't know what is. Absolutely insane.

Yeah last time Group 4 was at Bathurst it was Race C and I struggle on exit with used tyres with the FF cars so went the WRX and man, yeah you need to be a FULL SECOND clear exiting the elbow or you get gobbled up.

I'll repeat, don't bother with the 2008 Gr. 2 cars in C this week. I tried the Xanavi & what a mistake that was. On the flip side, I did some more qualifying. Dropped my 3:07.8 to 3:07.5 before shattering that with a 3:06.148. Where did that come from? And I saw tiny mistakes or else it would have ducked into the 3:05 range.

I keep making rookie mistakes in today's races. I make mistakes on lap 1 & have to spend the rest of the race making up for it. No matter the finish, DR is going up. 👍

2 extremely dirty races this afternoon. I now know to avoid racing this early. Holy cow.

Race 1, I start P8 and P9 is all over me trying to force a pass from the jump. They crash eventually but my problem of going off track strikes again, and I get a reset for some reason. I fight back from P17 to finish P11. I almost decided to not go again.

I start race 2 in P7 and survive until the turn on to the bridge where I get unceremoniously dumped and fall way behind again.

I’m fuming but soldier on to not lose more DR than I need to. At some point, someone tries to run me into a barrier. So, I dump them the next opportunity. Not very sporting of me, but necessary by my estimation. In the end I get back to P12 so there’s that, I guess. Lots of dirty driving being called out in the post-race lobby and I say “whoever spun me sucks” to the entire chat. They weren’t in the lobby though.

With all the dirty racing and my small but costly mistakes, I’m done this week. Plus, it’s Christmas and I’ll be busy all weekend. It’s a great combo, but I can’t make progress when I’m getting banged around every race. My mistakes are my own doing and I can fix those. I can’t fix others dirty driving.

@Stilva, yep it was very dirty this afternoon. It cleared up a bit after 4 pm, I got two races that didn't resemble all out war GT Rollerball style. Still plenty that can't resist to drive dirty, only to call me dirty when it backfires on them...

The bridge entry is a death trap. Leave one car width is some ancient forgotten wisdom that is no longer practiced. Get a nose on your inside bumper in the right hander onto the bridge and prepare to brake to let them by or end up in the railing. I managed to get my lap time down to 3:10 in race, pit in lap two to change to softs which helps a lot to get out of the scramble.

Anyway I recognize the name of the one that spun you, which nowadays only means one thing... The best race I had today was following an Argentinian with a Brazilian right on my heel. Both clean, great drivers, bit of side by side and evasive action here and there. I could have won that race had I not been taking out earlier, but that was probably just as much true for them. Race C can be great, but there's an awful lot of .... to wade through to get a good experience.

Once bitten?
Now it's twice bitten.

I decided to try again. But, like last time, I got punted off the track. This time, though, at Mcphillamy Park (turn 10, just as you come over the top of the hill). And, like last time, I wound up in last place thanks to that a-hole.

ETA: Just tried race "C". For some reason, I got a 1 minute penalty at the end of the race. I made a pit stop at the end of lap 4 and changed tires. I didn't take any fuel, but I didn't need any. What did I do wrong? Should I have stopped on an earlier lap? Taken fuel? I thought if you made a pit stop and changed tires, you were good.

This is just a crappy week for me all around. And not even with GT Sport.....just, in general.

What compounds did you use?

Yeah was gonna say, likely didn't use both compounds.

I lost a little SR after a couple of instances where the guys in front made mistakes and I touched them. Instantly I was dropped into weaker rooms, little too weak if I am honest. Managed to have a good night points wise and climb to my highest ever DR points total (40,500). That will drop soon enough as I hit less favorable tracks but will take it for now.

I'll keep that name in mind for when I encounter them again. I just wished I could of had some semi clean races this week. I know the point is to gain positions, but do it clean or take advantage of my mistakes. Don't run me off track or use me as a brake in the turns. Oh well, I can only do so much to run as clean as I can.
