I have been running the trucks races this week, it’s handles surprisingly well and I have some wind it it. Having got my 91 wins earlier in the week and then have 100 races to do to complete the 322 one. But sardegna has been so much fun, I think a raced it in gt7 with Gr3 but the Gr4 are a better more stable choice! The trusty megane was what I stuck with and ended up with a 1.48.977.

Will be grinding those levels at some point, I’m curious, what is the ‘pig’ you refer to for the nostalgia races, not fancying grinding 10mil for the Ferrari - actually what is the best to drive?

The Pig ('Rote Sau', Red Pig in German, I believe) was the name AMG's first spot in the limelight earned at Le Mans...the big 'Benz:

It's "only" two-mil but you really gotta get it tuned to bring home the win. Should be able to crack 210 or so in the draft but it's only a 5-speed (as most relics are) so getting it dialed in is kinda rough. Obviously throw all the power at it and ditch all the weight.

Easiest wins are the P4 and the XJ-13. The 300 pictured above can do it but you gotta work a little. The benefit of the Ferrari and Jag being the seconds it saves you completing the race. Ferrari can do it sub-7'25" and the Jag can run below 7'26". The 'Benz is in the mid-40's. And both the Ferrari and Jag require a good bit of tuning to really get them flyin'...I've seen a little over 230 in the Jag and better than 235 in the Ferrari. Cruising all alone (no draft) the Jag runs high teens and the Ferrari mid 220's. That's what I've been able to get out of them, anyway. Much more gear and the unassisted speed starts to suffer.

I've not had great luck with the Daytona, 365, etc. You can get it done but it usually came at the cost of the CRB so was defeating the purpose. Again, that's just for me, though.

Sorry, likely WAY more info than you wanted but I spent a lot of time churning through points there...had to make it fun somehow. Decided to see how fast I could get some of these iconic slabs-o-metal rollin'. 😁

EDIT: Also wanted to mention that the Gr.1 Challenge in the Professional League is a pretty good yield on races, too. Kyoto Driving Park takes about 10 minutes and can net you around 10K points, if remembering correctly. Plus, it's Gr. 1's.

Thanks for the message buddy, lots to think about and some choice to consider too!

Will be a hell of a grind that’s for sure so the variety will be needed!

Awesome showcase on the car!! So, how do you like this week's races? I seem to have done okay at Sardegna. Finished in the top 5 several times last week. I got another win at Mount Panorama Friday.

Could call Sardegna home at this point, really. I'd at least have squatters rights at this stage.😁

Qualified at Race C and that was enough for me already. Not one of my favorite tracks. Maybe if Race B was Brands Hatch or something I'd run it, but it's not. The trucks don't really interest me, but, I might take one out for a run before months end. If there were jumps, definitely, but there aren't. So, Sardegna it is...

Been having a decent go in the Viper, too. Got it quick enough to start P1 - 5 most times which is a huge blessing. Once I lose the bubble it's tough to catch up again. Racing has been amazing, without a doubt, and I'm still meetin' some cool new drivers...some 💩y ones, too, but it's all good. I just like seeing an FR atop a field of angry little FF's...especially when it's a crunchy ol' American sledgehammer. One of these days I'll remember to save/share a race.:)

If you're old enough to remember feel free to sing along

"One of these kids is doin' their own thing..."

And with that, I only have 16 poles to collect before I call curtains on GT Sport. Never even thought after all these years that I'd even have a shot at a Platinum trophy and yet now, thats all that stands between me and my very first one.

Good job indeed, I started on the GTS online journey when I had platinum’d gt7, I managed the 91 wins in 27 days which was unexpected. Have around 80 races of the 322 left which is dragging and then for the monster grind between 40-50 levels to do about 20% of the circuit experience plus the last line of the missions (so probs around a year lol) then psvr2 I guess haha

Huge accomplishment so congrats on that! When I saw the trophy for 91 wins shortly after starting to play online I took the platinum off the "can't wait to get that" list and placed it squarely in the "not gonna happen" closet. Uncorking that 91st win felt pretty amazing.

Might knock those pole positions out quicker if you play at weird times. I'll jump on early Sat/Sun after taking the dog out sometimes (6-ish am, ET US) and it's a ghost town. Tough NOT to get pole when you're the only one at the party. 😁

I started knocking out alot of these when they had GR.3 at Wet Spa in December. Getting on at around 3:00 AM my time + Wet Spa = At most 3 other people, Most of whom quit by the second lap. Won in three different cars as well upon realizing how much more grippy the other two were (Mostly the Porsche, with its default gearing really fitting more with my smooth inputs).

Man, 6:00 seems super early (Roughly an hour before I take my dogs out). If its that effective I'll give it a go though. Might be able to get more then 2 poles a day like I was planning.

I've tried to reason with him, but he's not hearin' it.

Saturday and Sunday are the same as every other day of the week as far as he's concerned and if we disagree, he's jus gonna sit there and whine until we cave. This is a strong use case for NOT having the dog in the bedroom. I'm not a morning person so this is me making the best of being dragged outta bed against my will. I like to think of it more as "therapy" than anything else...and nobody is hovering around asking "When are you gonna be done with this race?" 😁

So, I've given this a go both yesterday and today (currently as I make this post) figuring that no one in their right mind would be on at a time like this during week and so far, I am not exactly getting the ghost towns you managed. If anything, I somehow managed the opposite in race B for example: A near full room of 16 people...at 6:10 AM. The one time I did managed an empty room this week was ironically getting on at 3:10 AM earlier in the week when I got that 91st win. Can't tell what is going wrong for me, am I simply in the wrong race at the wrong time? Seemed so much easier back in December when all I had to do was show up on Race c in December at 3:00 AM for that Wet Spa GR.3 combo and I was effectly guaranteed pole AND at most 3 other people. Can't seem to get any of that here even with my driver rating far lower then it was at the time.

Great job on getting that gold trophy. I'm on my last 2 golds and then i'll unlock the GTS trophy. However I need a lot more wins and pole positions if I'm even gonna earn it. I don't know when the heck that will be, maybe at least 7-8 months from now as I am still a slow learner with this driving thing/setting low lap times.

I wasn't able to get on super early the last couple of days but, yeah, the rooms have been bristlin'. Either the daily races suck for GT7 this week or people really like this track...I can see both/either conspiring against you. The last time I was racing early morning tumbleweeds was at Monza. Bunch of races with 1 - 8 in the field. Sorry the advice didn't pan-out this round.

Sorry it's not going to plan but at least it's happening at a decent track. Apparently I've favored this one over the past couple years so am biased. I've got double what I have anywhere else in racing laps here. The stop sign at the top of the hill is one of my favorite sections in the game.

I hope you get those knocked off the list sooner than later. Good luck and good racin'!

Gave Race C a try at the usual 3:00 AM slots and have gotten success. Will see if I have the same luck at the 4:00 or 5:00 slots but so far, number of participants are far lower then Race B. That now leaves 13 poles for me to get (and the cool possibility of me landing win #100 this week).

Sardegna was pretty full today and yesterday (grids of 10 or more in the 4 races I did). And competitive too. One of them was all A and B drivers with 3 seconds between first and last qualifying times. Good close racing too.

Need to get my 1:50.1 time down to a low 1:49 or I’m going to continue to shed DR by finishing in the bottom half (gone from low A to high B mostly from this race lol).

FWD hatches seem to be the metas - Scirocco and Megane primarily.

Those are the go-to meta's at this track, for sure. I don't like 'em so chose another weapon, the Viper. You can run different lines and it's great at squaring-off corners for strong exit speed. The problem is, the aforementioned FF's are so damn fast in the straights, lol. Gotta keep the draft or it gets very difficult.😁

BUT, I was able to throw it around the course in 1:48.733 so it CAN be competitive. It's landed me a bunch of podiums/wins so far this cycle so I've stuck with it. Whatever you choose, have fun with it!

Another successful night at the 3:00 AM slots in Race C puts me at 11 more poles to get and 3 away from win #100. I guess in a similar vein to the selection in December, people prefer the far shorter Race B to the much longer Race C when comes to that time of the day..err, night.

I had won a slot in Daily Race B last Saturday using a Renault Meganne Gr. 4. It is the most effective car in this race.

Another day another daily race win. This time, it was at Race A, and it there were only four racers (including me) in the 23:00 slot on Wednesday. There were thus fewer players than ever before.

I'm gonna have to try this one before it's gone. I always chuckle at the one demo race that plays...big ol' Raptor out on the track with sports cars. It looks funny but the thing handles WAY better than I give it credit for and it's kinda fun to chuck around. 😁

I was in the Viper and one of the Meganes gapped me on the front straight even tho’ I was in the slip!

I’m trying to rebuild my DR so have been sticking to the Megane. And the racing has been superb, much closer and cleaner than GT7, and better than I remember GTS being back in the day!

Was in lots of full lobbies yesterday with A and B drivers where the quali times were within 2 seconds 1st to last (1:48-1:50). My 1:48.9 put me ~5th. Had a great nose to tail battle with one guy. Pipped him at the end and he thanked me in the chat after. Long may this continue!

Ps on Friday was in a race with the guy w/the #2 time in the Americas just after I’d used his ghost to get my quali time down.

Racing has been top-notch, gonna miss this round but looking forward to some new tracks to run on. Will be out there trying to enjoy these last couple of days w/it when I can. 😁

Race B is still attracting good grids and the racing is close at the front.

Next week it’s Monza Gr4 in B and Laguna Gr3 in C. Should be good!
Well damn, just as I was finding a groove with Race C and its tire strategy (Which as long as I keep my driver & Safety rating at D & E, has assured me a pole position and now leaves me at only 5 more to get). Anything on Race A? Depending on what happens, it might once again be my Ratings dumping ground.

'A' is kinda fun but you're throwin' a truck around the mountain...but it's not dirt and there's no jumps. Surprising, if not amazing, what the thing is capable of but I couldn't get into it enough to justify racing. Though, I can see where you'd be able to tank your SR from 99 to about 12 in one lap, and with the right crowd. 😁

Still running 'B' almost exclusively and still gettin' faster there. Was down for about a week while we replaced our TV...thanks to HDR I had to replace HDMI cables. Because I thought it'd be super cool to have the electronics out of sight in another room, this entailed pulling a sheet of drywall because that's where all the wires are run. Groovy. That said, the extra screen real estate has been surprisingly helpful. First laps out shaved more than a tenth off my qualifier, and that was after not touching the game for a week.

Anyway, now I'm trying to prepare myself for the inevitable PTSD that will be present after a month of dealing with T1/T3 combo punts @ Monza...looks like we're gettin' the bonus chicane this round. Time to find those aromatherapy candles....

A is Suzuka, 3 laps, N300 cars.

What region are you in? I’m in the Americas and see a lot of the same drivers in my (mostly A and B) lobbies.

Was in P2 behind the guy who’s #2 in the region. He just drove away!

I'm in the America's as well...have seen you once or twice, I believe. I've been chasing Postigo' most of the time...and I will continue to chase, lol. Typically runs 47's, low 48's all race which is well beyond my reach. If I can keep him at less than 5 seconds out, I call it a win. 😁

Hope to see you out there and enjoy the drive!

Hope to see you too! Yeah, too quick for me. I got my qualifying time down to 1:48.9, race pace 1:49-50.
