Daily, weekly and monthly rivals

I've had 3 or 4 times now over yesterday and today bettered my time on the weekly rival event, but my better time is not updated on the leader board. They are definitely legitimate times, ie not invalid laps.

Anyone else experiencing this?

EDIT: I have now recorded an example of this - see the full video below. Ignore that it says my 1:39.989 is Platinum Top 1%; it often makes mistakes like that; but do notice that the 1:39.989 is better than 1:40.167, which it then retains as my best time, when clearly it is not.

Also, I have put a message into the PC3 bug report black hole, for what it is worth.

This maybe something to do with it. I notice it often gives me that message when I've failed for some reason. So in your case it could think you've failed when clearly you have not. Strange. Was that the 1st attempt after starting Rivals or a repeated try?

It was a repeat, specifically a restart after making a mistake on the previous attempt.

But the error in question (not keeping my best average time) has happened under a variety of circumstances over yesterday and today.

Ah right, thanks @the13PeSK

I don't know what a Discord is, but if you say it is official, then we can but hope someone does something about it. Not recording correct times makes a bit of a mockery of the leader boards.

I logged it via the PC3 website and also on the official PC3 forum (saw a link to it on the website).

Discord is like a chat app where the "servers" about specific topic can be created and there's official PCARS server there.

You're not alone Marco. It is a curse of modern times that new "solutions" keep on being invented which, once you blow the smoke away and smash the mirrors, do nothing that their predecessors did not do.

Yes, several times.

It has now fortunately registered one of my better times, so grumpiness has subdued.

I finally managed to set a time after three or four attempts, but that was definitely not an easy one.

Edit: Are the Rivals events split into regions or something? My Algarve event shows me as 37th overall with a 1:39.300, but only Gold 3, which doesn't seem to jive with your screenshot at all. Spot #66 on mine is a 1:40.107 way down in the Gold 2 ranks...

The rankings are not regional, but positions are purely down to how many have participated in each event. I'm guessing that you are further down the groups due to lower numbers running the event. As of now, just over 1100 times have been set in the monthly on Playstation... I think that number must be much lower on your platform.

It's a DNF for me at the boat race at Imola :irked:
I had one try and got as far as the 3rd lap when I encountered a lake across the track and promptly headed towards the barriers. I gave up after that. I don't know about "magic" tyres I could have done with tracks being fitted!

It has now fortunately registered one of my better times, so grumpiness has subdued.
Jolly good, persistence paid off. I can't seem to get below 1:41. I think I'd be faster back in the Opel Astra. :)

General question.
Everything event is set in winter at the moment - when the tracks are at their coldest. Is that a seasonal thing? Were they set in Autumn when the game first came out

The Imola run, has a sort of canned spin on the 2nd lap. At least so it feels. I drove carefully , but still spun out.

I might as well have DNF'd. First attempt was all over the place with no aids. Added SC and TC thinking that would sort it. It didn't. Somehow stayed between the white lines, but really, really slow.

Aah, it's split by platform, then? That makes sense; I'm on PC, so I guess Sourly must be on a console...

I think I ended up stopped sideways on the track at least once during my successful run, and more than once on the ones I failed. By the third lap there's several corners with standing water that covers the width of the track and stretches for ages, so there's no way to get through those without sliding through uncontrollably and praying you don't leave the track limits before your tyres finally touch the tarmac again.

Have you tried both cars? The Ligier is a bit squirrelly for my taste, but it could be capable of some fast laps in the right hands. Set my 1:39:300 in the Ginetta after a couple tries, but Algarve is my favourite track and I run it all the time when just messing around trying random cars, so I have a lot of practice on that track.

Today it's a Pace Setter in the Porsche 935/78 at Bathurst (and thankfully no rain...).

I managed to barely crack gold in the Imola Formula Boat race with a 2:05.xxx, but looking at the leaderboards, I've no idea how so many folks managed to average sub-1:50.xxx times in that one.

Yes, PS4.

How many people do daily rivals on PC? On PS4 my one successful attempt was 2:00.xx which was only good enough for Bronze 2 (from memory). Top times were around 1:45.

It's been about 250-300 on PC.

Unfortunately, having a stomach virus this weekend has killed my Daily Rival and my Weekly Rival.

I have, with remarkably similar times. I think I slightly prefer the Ligier. My problem probably is that I'm not entirely sure where the track limits are so I'm taking it more cautiously than I need to. More aggression needed.

I'll have a look at that later, but is that set in winter too? What with Australia being in the southern hemisphere it's summer there currently.

Only 141 folks managed to set a time in that particular event on PC, looks like. I was dumb though and was remembering my last lap time, I think; my actual average was a 1:55.923. Oops! Still don't know how they were managing sub-1:50s with all that standing water on the third lap, though; that's some impressive car control.

Yeah, there's a few spots where you really need to send it to get a good time on Algarve. Several of the tighter corners work best with a really late apex and later braking than you might think, in order to get a straighter exit line. It's also really easy to over-brake on the first corner, which will cost you a fair bit of time.

I noticed with the ghosts I was racing that most were getting the 10-11 complex a bit wrong, apexing 11 too early and losing a ton of speed on the exit. Turn 14 is also really tricky, with the funky radius changes; if you turn in too early or don't slow down enough (or brake too hard) you won't be able to maximise your speed all the way through the exit and that will destroy your current lap time and the next one as well.

Also, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, and 15 are all full-throttle corners in those cars; if you're letting off at all there, you've gotten it wrong. 4 is the trickiest; you really need to make sure to get the right line exiting 3, because if you don't hit just the right angle entering 4 you're likely to run wide on the exit at full throttle.

Yep, it's set to summer, so I guess they are following the "current time of year" pattern.

Bathurst was pretty tough. The Porsche is deceptively quick; I was wondering why it was squirrelly and understeered out of fairly simple bends, until I looked down and realised the speed I was doing.

Had another non-registered time, but fortunately my best effort on my last run was registered.

I really like how the drivabilty of the Porsche has changed from pc2 to pc3

I had to restart many times until I was not allowed anymore.

Really liked this rival to push the car on the mountain.

New Weekly event: Hot Lap at Mugello Short in the rain. Based on the name, I think it was intended to be with the Caterham, but it's open to any Road C car, including tuned cars from your garage, so it's time to jump in that 499-PIR GT-R you've surely got stashed away in there...

Daily is a Hot Lap at the IMS road course in a Ferrari 512 M. Pretty stable for an old prototype, but it does not like to slow down, so don't miss your braking points!
