First 2D trees, skidmarks, reverse lights, tire smoke...

Now? cockpit modes and light illumination.

:ouch:

hahaha 👍

maybe in 10 years people wan´t go out of their house anymore because they get hyperrealistic 3D trees, perfect lights, incredible damage and all the other things they whine about...

It´s still a game...

it also got me thinking about the public,in nurburgring a lot of Germans on the open spaces making BBQ's,in le mans a lot of people with their children watching the race, and in Daytona a lot of fat people in caravans.

Watching too much Top Gear sir? I realize that most of the world see's America as being full of fat people, but not all of us are. ;)

All the complaining over Standard and Premium has resulted in more people not caring about most of the rest of what GT5 has to offer. I'm excited about these time cycles. I sometimes wonder what it would be like if there was either a 1000km Grand Valley endurance or even a 24 Hour race around Grand Valley. Someone said that the headlights don't seem to do much around Toscana. Fact is, I think you may need some rally lightpods to help improve your vision on night stages.

Still, VERY excited about time cycles.

If you think Le Mans looks insane at night (and don't get me wrong it is) then take a look at the Nurburgring at night.

That is nothing short of spectacular.

Oh yeah,GT5 is going to be a killer game.

Some Good points JB. For those that have driven at night, the difference between driving on a tarmac surface and gravel is miles apart. Tarmac tends to reflect light alot more then gravel. Anybody that played some of the WRC games in the late 90's early 00's where night racing was still night racing and it was virtually impossible to see clearly where you were going.

I also agree with your sentiment towards the standard-premium cars. Gran Turismo 4 for all purposes still looks fantastic even today, so I don't see how anybody can discredit the effort of poly through something that quite simply, does not make or break the game.

People see this massive gap, but fail to acknowledge the digitally masterful recreated tracks, the inclusion of day night as well as a brand new physics system and an advancement in online capabilities. But of course you cannot forget the photo mode that is taking photos upwards of 20 mega pixels.

There is so much good about this game but people want to pick apart a flaw, that they will never probably notice once they pick up the game. Like me i'm sure most gamers find a bunch of cars they really like and stick to using them and anything else is just for a muck around in.

yeah is truly terrifying and it got me thinking that it will be a beautiful sight when all the lights in the pit lane and the building lighs turns on,it will be spectacular, and it got me thinking that we will see some initial d action on some duels and just check out the stuff like we will probably be doing like in 3:34 on the video

I lost it on 9:50

Will standard tracks have day/night cycles too?
That's a good question, I don't think we'll know ntil nearer release. I'm guessing the differences between the standard and premium tracks mirror those of the cars to a certain extent. Standard tracks are upgraded ports from GT4 and premium tracks are scratch modeled. Beyond that I don't think anyone outside of Sony could really say at this stage.

Either way I'm sure there will be plenty of tracks that we can race day and night or through the transitions.

right... did someone confirm that day/night transitions will be possible on every single track?
If it will be, I will not need so many more tracks! Consider the possibility of driving at dusk, noon, night etc... it really boosts the durability of the game

but you just know gt5 isnt going to be pitch black like that right? guess we could turn the brightness down

Remember that is not really that dark for the drivers. Cameras are dumb objects that when placed in a car like that, are set to be optimised for bright sections. Eyes adjust. Just think about real life. Even were there is no street lights and no moon, the light form the stereo is enough for you to see what is on the dash.

Listening to the practice and qualifying on radioLeMans last week got the fever going and I had to bust GT4 out! I missed having the night transition so this will be a great addition to the game. I play with a G25 on a custom sim and one thing I noticed is the FF on 4 is much stronger that Prologue. Eight hours on La Sarthe sure got it warm!

Hello everyone! =)

I just also remember the Asian game show, it was the pit crew(more like a paddock at this rate)that looks totally amazing, just look:

you can even see the camera crew taking film of the pit stop, just amazing

Excuse me, but what it is Standard/Premium tracks BS? It's just speculation, isn't it? All the tracks I've seen looks to be of the same superb quality.

having almost the weather environments confirm, got me think how the races would be and then I saw this:

now imagine that in an enzo or a GT car and the results will be total suicide!!!

and also got me thinking about the racing in the rain with prototypes:

terrific is it?

i dont want to get ahead of myself here but i hope in customization there are accessories such as rally pod lamps,i know they use them when racing at night;) anyway the day/night transitions are great i would love to see a vid with both rain and time transition.dont know about anyone else but i would love to see more of the rally segment in upcoming videos, hopefully tracks with multiple surface changes. eg. dirt, graveland tarmac all on the same track/stage. i mean imagine all these features in a single race! imagine rallying as the time transitions+ surface changes, dust etc then to top it of it starts to rain :) surely the grip level would change as well now that would be awesome ;)

I was just daydreaming about Citta di Aria @ Night in a Lancia Stratos Rally Car. Putting them beams to good use.

I was dreaming about a GT5 without Citta di Aria. It's a pain in the arse.

No dust getting kicked up, "solid" plastic barriers... Oh dear.

Have you not bothered watching any of he videos around?

Not only does plenty of dust get kicked up, but its also excellently done.

Your point on "solid" plastic barriers is a valid one, but not exactly un-heard of in racing games, but we more certainly will be getting some very, very pretty dust.
