*Sigh* Well it's come to this. You know, a couple of times back there I was thinking of quitting. But always, I would vow that I would make it work, and stick with the club until the very end. Now... it looks like I got my wish.
Two cruises really stick with my mind. The first one I joined, and the last one I joined. The first was on a date I will remember. It was New Year's Eve, 2012, and DBeav himself had invited me into this club, but due to timezone issues (which were always a problem), I was unable to join a room until this one. All of a sudden, the police cars I was passionate about had a use and (although I never officially posted an application) I would start my official tour of duty as Gran Turismo Police Department Officer F. Hound, Unit 427.
Through the months, I continued to join lobbies and my police cars continued to be developed. I can say that this club really helped me to learn lessons and to develop police cruisers. I soon experimented with engine tuning and weight reduction and other forms of tuning, and so my cop cars became as fast as the racer vehicles they were tasked to chase. Beside this, I also learned more about being an officer and a cruiser.
I believe the decline started when Doog, Ferrari and Zyla announced that they would branch off to start their own club. A few members went to join them, but it looks like that club is now dead, the thread having been closed soon after Funnyguy attempted to join. New members came in, and that's when the arguments started. It was a nasty downward tailspin that was very difficult to escape from.
The summer was a great period. I was able to join many lobbies, and many lobbies were indeed created. Despite the drama, we proved we still knew how to cruise. However, the decline was fast becoming irreversible as summer gave way to autumn.
The last cruise I joined was one I had the honor of hosting. It was the 9/11 memorial, and as I lead the procession in my blue, silver and red Corvette, I had no idea it would come to this. I put my heart and soul into the speech I gave just before I left, and I will now modify it to put here:
"I must leave now, but the rest of you can keep this going. We shall never forget the cruise club that died today. God bless you all, and God bless America. Goodnight."
Now, the GTPD might just be finished. My police cars lie dormant. I must make a decision. I might attempt to start up a cruise club. I might just go back to being the lone ranger going from room to room. I will give away my police cars to those on my friends list. Now, time is short. I must leave soon, and this club will be on my mind as I go through the day.
Unit 427 off-duty, ending shift for good. Handing in my badge and signing off. It's been a good run guys.
