Tested and tuned 4 cars so far, all of them dangerously close to max allowed top speed, averaging at 127 to 128 mph. All of them tips just over 360PP to 370PP and needs SH tires to get almost 1:19 flat, changing to CS would make them slower between 1 to 2 seconds or more - adding power to compensate would mean breaking speed limit, this is with long gearing for the main straight.

Most muscle cars with big cube engine would need power limiter, lots of it and handling are not very good with CS tires, and with open diff .... things getting trickier, I ran long gear ratio on all of them, only using 4 gear out of 5 so they won't go over the speed limit while maintaining target time.

Here are the cars I have tuned for almost flat 1:19, all SH tires ABS off.

Chevy Corvette C1 '54 at 251HP/1397kg 360PP, 126/7 mph top speed - the only 6 cylinder, hence no limiter
Chevy Corvette C2 '63 at 244HP/1370kg 370PP, 127/8 mph top speed - low use of limiter
Pontiac Tempest Lemans GTO ' 64 at 241HP/1420kg 370PP, 128/9 mph top speed - lots of limiter
Shelby GT350R '65 at 232HP/1268kg 367PP, 128/9 mph top speed - lots of limiter

Don't know which old muscle car to start with, get to this site, complete history, facts, specs, factory options, descriptions, even factory paint swatches with their color id :D

@ Iainoflo : That is Frash Green, a really sexy solid color paint :D

:yuck:Great races everyone! Thanks for allowing me to join the Valley tours!

I might have missed it but I didn't see an official entries for Sail.

I was still de-tuning my Nissan as the races were beginning so I didn't get a chance to post the spec's in this thread.

Going from memory, my Nissan had the following spec's:

GTsail290/GTsail2/Nissan 370Z GT Academy '08/Premium/420PP/Mild tune/SH/ABS1/137mph

I will check tonite and make sure that I didn't change this during the races.

Edit update:
I checked my Nissan, and after the first race I was running at the 420PP that I mention above. For the first race I was running a 417PP and got dusted!

Catch you all later!

Had a massive headache half the day today because of my late night racing but it's over now so I still think it was totally worth it. Hope I can join the Euro-friendly time as well. :)

It's possible there is something unique about the Chevelle. It does handle well enough for a 2 ton muscle car. I'll see if I can pop on tonight and test out a couple of other cars and see how they do....if necessary I'll adjust the top speed. For it to have a lower top speed it means that it's it's outcornering cars that weight 400+kgs less on CS tires:confused:...what a rocket!!

I was just in the lounge JP, the Shelby GT350R was down another 2 to 4 PP from 367PP ( breaking into mid 18s ), still within top speed limit at 128/9 mph on SH tire. See if you can test the cars I posted before, C2 Vette ( stock 3 speed ), C1 Corvette ( power upgrade ), Lemans GTO on CS tires ( they were all mild tune - stock weight, custom suspension, some have LSD ) I just got DC'd again after a while in the lounge with Cote, Ferrari, NC ...

EDIT : Maybe just 1 or 2 mph top speed increase, so muscle cars with CS tire have more room to play, most of them will handle slower in corners anyway.

Going back to lounge ...

3 of us in the Lounge testing...:)

My fault I should have tested more than one car. It's looking like the target time will be 1:17 instead of 1:19...and top speed 222-225 ...tested 4 cars already and they easily meet the specs and relatively easy to drive...more later...

I'm way off on top speed, if anything, it needs lowered...

In the premium Z28 and Mach 1 I'm only hitting 125mph to achieve the target time with no suspension mods, just tranny and rear diff only.

In the premium Challenger, I'm only at 120mph with rear diff and tranny.

All cars on CS tires.

The AC Cobra is 125 as well.

Got Dc'd when the race started :grumpy:, I am off pace on CS tire even with close to 225kmh on standard cars ( lousy brake and worse handling compared to premium cars ) ... no ABS ... so I'm going to use SH tires.

Okay fellas, the target time has been updated. Problem is, there is a wide variation among the muscle cars in terms of grip and top speed. Tested a few cars tonight and seems that 1:17 is a better fit and a top speed of 218 km/h/136 mph.

However it's possible that not all car/tire combinations will work in terms of muscle cars as some just don't have enough grip. As they are identified we will point them out. As it looks now, the best cars in terms of grip are the premiums, the Camaro, Challenger and Mustang so if you are struggling at all to meet the target it should be easily possible in one of them. I drove the Mustang and it was awesome, especially with the racing exhaust. NC and Cote report that the Challenger has even more grip. Cote used the Camaro tonight and hit the targets on SH tires.

I also qualified 3 standards, the GTO Lemans, Charger 440 and the Superbird and that's about the order of good to bad as well. Lemans was the better of the three, Superbird the worst. GTO had a great racing exhaust sound as well. If I was to race any of them I'd probably try sports hards.

Here's a generic suspension tune for a muscle car

Ride -10/-10
Springs 8.0/6.0
Dampers 6/6 Front
Dampers 5/5 Rear
ARB 4/4
Camber 1.8/1.0
Toe -.05/-.05

LSD 5/12/5

I used the custom 5 speed and set it up like this:

Reset
Top speed all the way to the left, minimum
5th gear all the way to the right
Final Gear ratio to the left until top speed at top right is around 250 km/h
First gear all the way left
Second gear halfway between 1 and 3
3rd don't change
4 adjust so the bottom of the line corresponding to 3,4 and 5 are a straight line.

NCemtB / Ford Mustang Mach 1 '71 (Grabber Blue) / Premium / 417 PP / CS Tires / Tuned / ABS - 1 / 211 km/h (131 mph)

Tuning: Adjustable LSD, Full Customization Transmission.

NCemtB / Chevrolet Camaro Z28 '69 / Premium / 393 PP / CS Tires / Tuned / ABS - 1 / 211 km/h (131 mph)

Tuning: Adjustable LSD, Full Customization Transmission, Ballast.

Had the Z28 sorted for the 1:19 target, but now that it's changed to 1:17 I'm pretty much set on the Mach 1.

Pressure got the best of me last night, and I felt so confident at the start. Pictures from the last two races are up on my profile. Pictures from cape ring will be taken down tomorrow to make room for more.

In my experience, FF's are the hardest cars to drive under pressure because they tend to do the opposite of FR's and MR's, they understeer. It's a lot more time consuming and requires more patience to recover from understeer compared to oversteer. On top of that they are notorious slow starters so you often lose a couple of places right off the bat. I avoid FF's for that reason, although I know a lot of guys like them. Something to think about anyway Flex...👍

Maybe some week we can have an all FF car limitation so we can all experience them and not be handicapped by their inherent limitations:idea:💡

Be sure to check out the Tempest Lemans GTO, Charger 440 on racing exhaust and Charger Super Bee on semi racing exhaust ... awesome rumble :D I have them tuned along with C1, C2, C3 L46 Vette, most are 380 to 390+PP, SH, no ABS, 1:17 near flat :) What's weird is these standard muscles with SH tire have only slightly higher cornering speeds than premium on CS tire :dunce:

Anything but FF's!

First car I tried for last week was the Trial Celica, probably the best handling FF in the game outside of race cars, and it was so good in the corners I couldn't get any top speed out of it. It would be a go to car in an FF race, give it a spin:idea:💡

This is kind of what I meant when I mentioned it's possible not all car/tire combinations will make it. There's a huge difference between say the Premium Mustang on CS tires and the Superbird on SH tires, the Mustang being the better of the two. I would say with the target I've favoured the Premiums so most Standards I would suspect, would be on SH tires, although I was able to squeeze a couple of them in on CS.

Gentlemen ( I assume there are no ladies in the group yet:sly:), we have been approached by another group from GTP who wish to borrow some or all of our format for their own group. They were seeking our permission to use parts or all of the DeadNutsEven racing format for their own racing program, perhaps for a spot race or an ongoing series of races, it's yet to be determined. Cote, Track and I discussed it and decided to give them our blessing to go ahead. It's possible it may not happen so we'll keep their identity a secret for now. If and when it does happen, we'll let you know about it and if you're interested, you may have another place to do some DeadNuts style of racing in the future. All I can say is I've worked with these guys before, they are a class act and if I had to handpick someone else to give the DeadNuts formula a go, this would be the guys I would pick:tup:👍

All the credit for us being noticed by other groups belong to you, the drivers of DeadNutsEven Racing. A casual observer looking in on this thread, and I know there are lots of them, would see us enjoying ourselves, a huge variety of cars and tracks being used, different winners and podium finishers almost every race and overall, the most competitive racing on GTPlanet, bar none, and that's a fact!!!

Keep up the good work!!!👍

TrackBound7 / Ford Mustang Mach 1 '71 (Grabber Lime) / Premium / 412 PP / CS Tires / Tuned / ABS - 1 / 211 km/h (131 mph)

The premium Dodge Challenger R/T '70 is super awesome, with racing exhaust, stock 50/50 weight distribution and comfort soft, some transmission tuning, easy 1:17xx with some use of power limiter - top speed at 131/2 mph... I am still baffled at the handling + brake disparity between premium and standard, the Challenger on comfort can handle cornering speed + braking distance similar to most standard muscle with Sports Hard + tuned suspension.

The old C1 and C2 Vette are at the worst end of cornering grip, really a challenge to get into 1:17s even on SH tires without breaking the top speed limit. I am crazed about these old muscles now ... racing them on Cape Ring South or Inside would be a lot of fun.

How do I become apart of this group? I'm new to online and looking for a group who races earlier than 11 EST, and this seems to look like a good fit.

Welcome MC. I suggest giving the [post=7815134]DeadNutsEven Original Post[/post] a thorough read, if you have any questions, you can post them here, anyone will be glad to answer them for you. The post right below it has the target time and car/tire restrictions for this week. We race in the DeadNutsEven Lounge so to get in you need to send a Friend Request to the PSN ID: DeadNutsEven. It may take some time to get into the swing of things like finding cars and PP levels that hit the target times for you, but after a couple of weeks you really get a feel for it and it's not so daunting. Everyone is very helpful around here so don't be afraid to ask for help.

Good luck and we hope to see you on track:tup:👍

EDIT: I'm taking off for a few days..should be back by Sunday...try not to burn the place down while I'm gone...:sly:
