. I must disagree that it is a car track more than a driver track. There are still about 10 turns, some of which can be taken quite quickly. .

Track, I agree, it takes talent to be quick in the parabolica or Ascari, but you have to admit that with strong acceleration and good top speed, there is more room to compensate for lesser speed in the technical curves at Monza than most other track,
There is 11 curves, but there is also ample room to get at top speed.
In other word, if your down on aceleration and top speed at Monza, you are going to be challenged, no matter how good you drive.

Drivers are on full throttle for most of the lap due to its long straights and fast corners, and is usually the scenario in which the open-wheeled F1 cars show the raw speed they are capable of (372 kilometres per hour (231 mph)

Autodromo Nazionale Monza

As for the pace witht he draft, for the reason above, I agree on your and NC concern, but we will have to try it to see if it create such an issue that would prevent us from having fun with our formula at Monza.
If possible we could try a pre run over the week end, Saturday morning early could work for me. Or maybe Thursday after Tsukuba.

The big draft is a factor at all the larger tracks, can't change that. We should only be concerned about runs under the target without the draft. If someone can get out front and run 59's and pul away, adjustments need to be made. But it's possible to run 58.s or better with a perfect leap frogging draft type of run. So long as we make a decent effort in setting up the car before the race I'm sure it'll be fine.

Don't forget also the GTP Rules concerning track boundaries. Two wheels on the track at all times and the red/white curb is considered track. So two on the curb and two in the grass or green stuff is fine. 4 in the green is not fine. It's especially easy to do that in the last chicane so watch out for that when you are running your setup laps. Mistakes here and there happen expecially when you're under pressure, just don't make a habit of it

Fellas, I've been considering writing a guide to good racecraft just for our group here, but stumbled across one that was already written by a gentleman that goes by VBR (VirtualBornRacer). It fits so well with the philosophy of this group I'm going to put a link to it here so you can check it out, and in the OP. I suggest everyone read it as it really captures the mindset and way of thinking that I have used throughout my GT5 experience in DeadNutsEven/Parity League and everywhere else too.

I also suggest that if you read it, you post on the thread it's in to show your support for this type of racing philosphy. If you have any questions concerning how it relates to us or how to apply it to real situations, feel free to post them in this thread.

VBR's Good Racecraft Guide

Well done JP, the guide is a good read.

Below is a quote from the guide.

Also, some lacking in good racecraft tend to drive right up to & into the driver in front, as they do not have the common sense to adjust their throttle & braking to account for following in the slipstream of another. You will notice that drivers who have good racecraft make very little contact when following & passing others on track.

I find it particularely annoying when some one who is behind me bumped in to me, I am glad that, apparently I am not the only that think it is proof of poor driving. Good to be close but touching is not OK.
To be clear, I understand it will happen, but wish it will happen less.

The quiz in the thread about A driver and Z driver is hilarious

There is a lot of good stuff in there Cote for sure. Mainly I think it highlights the type of decision making I like to see while racing. Let me give you an example. In many of the races I've run, organized and Open Lobby, the field is often very close. I like nothing more than to get a small gap and look in my mini-map and see 2nd, 3rd etc. fighting it out for position corner after corner. Generally I know if I can qualify up front and get out of the draft, the race is over. Point being, battling for second place 2 laps into a race doesn't make a lot of sense when the leader is running away.

When the shoe is on the other foot and someone has jumped out to a lead and I'm in 3rd or 4th playing catch up with another driver, I will avoid showing pass to the driver ahead of me at all costs and generally bump draft the person ahead if bump drafting is allowed. I prefer to work together so we can both have a shot at the win, rather than fight it out lap after lap and guarantee no better than 2nd, and that's assuming no one is going to catch you from behind because you're constantly losing seconds per lap taking less than optimum racing lines.

It's a bit different in a shorter sprint but much of the same philosophy applies.

I'm going to slide into the Lounge in a few minutes to drive a couple of cars and figure out what I'll drive next week. Hint: It'll probably rhyme with Honda...lol.

Yeah, I didn't use the F40. Its just way too unstable through corners, and takes way too long to brake, making it most likely terrible when racing with a pack. So I used my 458, and managed to beat Johnny's PP for once, although its only by 1 point. :sly:

Extent of my "Light Tune:"
Race Suspension: Lowered for the stance, yo
Exhaust: I wanted it to sound more like the real car.

So it isn't really, tuned. Its just lower & louder.

JP/Cote,

How "fully tuned" are you guys? I always try to run a car at spec, or as close to spec as possible, but I think I'm really gonna have to beef up the suspension and drivetrain to get my car to behave properly...

just a point to remember for every one, the reason we post the PP is to help each other in finding the same pace, not to see who get the lowest. Since we are using different car, PP level does not reflect who is the fastest. Also keep in mind that it is way more important for what we are trying to achieve ( exilarating online racing) to have a consistent car, instead of the ultimate fastest lapping machine.
If some of us are interested in knowing who is ultimatly faster than the other in this group, I already know I am ultimately one of the slowest, those interested could participate in a more conventional competition in an other league and find out.
With this league it is better to let the ego at the door and enjoy the competitive environement created by the pace of the Dead Even Nuts.👍

I usualy have no tuning or extra light tuning, but this time I am tuned all the way, thanks to JP.
It is fun but then the car is not the same anymore, I ususally prefer dealing with the imperfection of the car I choose and race with more PP, as imperfection is also part of the specific character of the choosen car.
That said, that Zonda prepared by JP is a mean racing machine.👍

What's the head count for Tsukuba tonight? I'm planning on being there, who else?

I will most likely show up. The current time we're racing allows me an hour and a half to stuff my face with food before the race, so you can count on me being there.

Many of the cars 400+ PP cars I've run in Parity and here were fully tuned cars I tuned for other racing. I just changed the tires. They had everything on them necessary to meet the PP requirements and all the non-PP upgrades like drivetrain. I enjoy driving cars stock and racing them if everyone else is in the same car, but when I'm on the edge I prefer cars that are predictable and I know what they are going to do.

For me a light tune usually involves adding the custom suspension and only making small tweaks to toe and camber to get the car to rotate or not, as the case may be. And sometimes racing exahust but not always. I'll drive the car stock first, then usually with one adjustment I have it where it's ok. Without ABS I want to hear the tires so if the racing exhaust interferes too much I won't use it.

Ultmately I just do what I think I need to make it feel right for me. I don't pay any attention to top speed or that kind of stuff, just the lap time. Usually I'm the slowest car in a straight line because I enjoy driving good handling cars more than anything else.

I usualy have no tuning or extra light tuning, but this time I am tuned all the way, thanks to JP.

I did take the car out for a bit of testing on the SM tires and adjusted the rear toe to about -.05...really helps it rotate better out of the corners...:sly:

And, I am not leaving town until tomorrow now, so you'll have me to kick around in the race tonight...lol.

If I'd known I was going to be here I probably would have qualified another car for the variety:idea:

EDIT: 4 of us here now..

Thank you fellow Dead Nuts Even, for one of the most intense and clean online sim racing I have had the pleasure to be part off ever.
I don't know if it is the proposed reading by JP, but I believe we have graduated one level in the way we conducted our self tonight. :gtpflag:
Dont get me wrong, we always have been extra carefull and respecfull, but tonight was even better.

As usual they have been intense battles all the way down to the finish line, every one has been leading and being lead.
The test at Monza is conclusive, it is going to be different but fun.
Note of advice, NC has a secret weapon.:boggled:
Special Mention; Ferrari is not going to race in a NSX.

I think NCemt has been practicing because he doesn't seem to make any mistakes..:sly:

If the short sprint at Monza was any indication it should be a great race. I think the new physics model has made driving on these harder tires a little more forgiving and predictable and loss of grip is much more progressive and easier to anticipate, even without ABS, and I think that makes for much better racing. Even on the Sports Hards at Tsukuba we ran within a few feet of each other all night with only a couple of scrapes and bruises to show for it. The desire for clean racing and respect has always been there, it's just a little easier now to put it into action:tup:👍

I just remembered a buddy of mine dabbles in video editing and making amateur 🤬 movies. Maybe he can cobble a video together with some highlights of some of our close racing.

I think NCemt has been practicing because he doesn't seem to make any mistakes..:sly:

I can't believe I didn't choke in the third race with you inches off of my bumper for the last few laps... I don't think I took a breath the entire time!

Some thing similar about our events would be amazing!

we finished that race with 4.013 gap between first and last, like most of the other race yesterday night. after 10 laps around Tsubuka

That was pretty great racing. 👍 I wasn't in my best form last night, I couldn't react to the slidey NSX very well, as I was drowsy and full of food. But that Monza practice race was tons of fun. I can catch NC through the Ascari, and draft him all the way down, but I just can't close him out before the Paribolica. I predict less passing this week, and just a lot of close racing on each other's bumpers.
