Decide to contact Porsche today.

But somehow you still managed to take the time and effort in spamming in it because you don't have better things to do.

Thanks Wildchildpr and zuggerat, (or anyone else I missed :sly:) for your kind efforts. It's people like you that make coming here so exciting! (At least for me)

Yes, I did take the time to post what I thought. Someone's got to do it:dopey:.

Individual emails from fans obsessing over Porsche isn't likely going to do a damn thing. I want Porsche as much as the next guy, but Porsche isn't going to feel motivated by 10 people to go and approach PD. Contracts bind Porsche together with other companies like glue. This won't release those binds, friend.
Lastly, there is a Porsche thread, so it would fit better there.

To me, this isn't really about them being convinced into featuring their cars in the latest Gran Turismo installment, it's more about knowing what the problem really is, (if for some that didn't already know, myself included) and clearing things up nicely.

Do you honestly believe Porsche can reveal such information to anyone outside the contracts? We'll know if Porsche is in sometime, whether through Japan's release (if it's earlier than other parts of the world), or through interviews from TGS 2009.

Do you guys have such high hopes for Porsche to be in a video game that you guys are actually sending emails to a guy at Porsche who's job is to send back a generic response?

It helps a little, but it's not enough. The best, most effective, most convincing (and easiest) strategy to employ is to simply organize a petition and get 10,000 or so names in support. That will mean a lot more to Porsche than a few emails from hardcore GT-Porsche fans, because it means that 10,000 people are aware that Porsche is getting left-out of the GT equation... 10,000 potential Porsche customers. Look at it from a business pov and youll see it's a lot more attractive to Porsche with 10,000 names attached to it.

10,000 minds will make it happen.. it'll manifest like on the secret. lol Anyway, that's gotta be the best way to approach it.. so if anyone is hardcore enough to do it, i suggest u get to work asap to figure out the fastest way to get 10,000 legit names to help facilitate the process of getting Porsche to feature in GT sooner rather than later :)

Since Porsche said that they, in respect to the agreement they have with EA, keep their heads out of such decisions even if they would like to decide differently, I don't think anything would change the situation. And since it is a very honorable and clean way of doing thing, I actually appreciate it, though I'd of course love to see Porsche in the game if I had the choice.

maybe they haven't heard of the bouncy glitch of NFS Shift? someone should add a clip or youtube link of that in one of those emails..

lol big time
I saw that when I drove the Bugatti on the Nordschleife. IMPOSSIBLE. And the McLaren F1 isn't better either. They're bouncing like a hell, also the Aston Martin, if it once begins to bounce it never stops!

You are wasting your time. EA have a sub-license with MS, and I can tell you now, that will include all kinds of inclusions and exclusions, one of which specifically forbidding SONY from being granted an equivalent license.

You should shoot a video of Shift, while running the Carrera GT race at Spa in Tier 2. I'm sure Porsche will be so happy they signed up with EA/SMS to have their cars bouncing all over the frickin track. I posted a few pix of this phenominon over in the NFS Shift "Post your cars" thread. Porsche has to so proud of how they are represented!

PD would never have allowed a game to be shipped with that level of frack up!

God I thought that no one else noticed. Dude, because of that crap I returned the game. Its BS that a game that costs $60 USD has such garbage physics. SHIFT is a mediocrity. EA should be ashamed of the level game that they produce.

Props to the original poster. No one here should tear him down from trying. Good luck!

What do you mean ashamed? EA prides itself on releasing games full of mediocraty.

I would be ashamed to give millions of people a product like that. The only reason EA is still in business is because of their lic with NFL, NCAA, ect. And because of shear size.

Trust me, I couldn't agree with you more. The fact is though, I don't think EA cares about releasing a crap game because they seem to be doing it every other week. So I doubt they'd be ashamed when their aim is quantity over quality.

I can't agree with you on this one.
You say FIFA, NBA Live, Fight Night are the games they should be ashamed of?
OK, so a few last NFS' were a, well, garbage.
But there's many games that are good and published by EA.

As long as they are still making ****loads of money with their games, this isn't going to change anytime soon.
Edit: yes they have some really good games, as the ones mentioned above, but look what happened to C&C and NFS.
And their patch support is really nothing to be proud of

Well done to the O.P. Your sentiments are in the right place and encouraged me to do the same thing, but I decdied to e-mail the CEO instead.

Dear Sir,

Licensing the Porsche brand to Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 5 video game franchise is a fantastic opportunity not only for Porsche, but also for car and Porsche enthusiasts to experience the next best thing to owning one.

By licensing, you will be able to promote to adults and children:-

* The Porsche brand.
* A variety of vehicles on offer by Porsche.
* The handling, sound, look, texture and build quality of each & every car.

This opportunity can not only help Porsche to sell more vehicles (a clear motivator) but to also make more people aware of the vehicles on offer. Mercedes, Ferrari, Citroen have all liaised and worked with Kazunori Yamauchi at Polyphony Digital to bring their cars to the Gran Turismo franchise. Not everyone can own a Porsche, but there are millions of people who would love to own a Porsche. Someone has to win the lottery - and when they do - would you want them to buy a Ferrari?

You have a responsibility to make people want to buy Porsche. Licensing exclusively with Electronic Arts and the 'Need for Speed' franchise might at first appear to be a fantastic proposition and financially lucrative, but the truth of the matter is that everyone knows Gran Turismo. The Gran Turismo franchise has sold over 50 Million copies worldwide, featured on TV shows such as "Top Gear" and the latest installment of GT seeks to promote car magazines and TV programmes via "Gran Turismo TV".

Review your agreements for exclusivity. Sign with Polyphony Digital and bring the joy of driving a Porsche to millions of people.

Sincerely,
Lord Von PS3.

I though Porsche had some 'licensing' deal with EA, something that T10 had to negotiate with to get Porsche's in their game?

If this is the case then no matter what you say to Porsche, they are contractually bound. I'm sure as soon as that contract is up, PD will be in their, or in the mean time, perhaps they need to talk numbers with EA..?

Writing letters to Porsche right now will not be very effective, especially when you send them to Dr. Wiedeking himselfe, because i heared Porsche becomes a part of Volkswagen right now and Dr. Wiedeking might not be responsible for the Porsche brand any longer.

Other than that, i dont think that Porsche will reconsider their marketing strategies just because some people from GTPlanet tell them to do so. Maybe Volkswagen, as Porsches new owner, marketing issues might be treated differently and maybe they might reconsider their licensing policy aswell. Since Volkswagen is most likely going to be in GT5, Porsche might as well be coming to Gran Turismo (maybe GT6) as time goes by.

That's why I also wrote to Michael Macht. :)

The more people that write, the more notice they'll take. 👍

The fact that Macht will now be Porsche's CEO as part of an integrated automotive group with Volkswagen (VOWG.DE)—which is expected to take over Porsche AG—comes as no surprise to outside observers. Industry insiders are convinced that Ferdinand Piëch, the head of the VW supervisory board and Wiedeking's archrival, played a key role in Macht's promotion at Porsche. "Macht will be putty in Piëch's hands," comments one industry expert.
Maybe I'll write to Piëch too. :)

... If I can find his e-mail address. :)

Send them the link to the Ferrari 458 tribute "by the makers of Gran turismo", for them to see the quality, in case they are not aware.

Source please.

That EA have sub-licenced Porsche to T10 is common knowledge, but you claim that they managed to include a clause to not let Sony in is, as far as I know, new news. As such a credible source would be nice.

Scaff

The fact that porsche is not in GT5 does change my opinion of them.

It makes me think that they are ignorant and a little bit stupid.

If i was a millionaire it might even sway my decision to buy one or not

That woouldn't make sense, it's MS who want the sub-license from EA, that doesn't put MS in a position to make big demands like forcing EA not to deal with Sony. If that was all there was to it EA would just do a deal with Sony instead that doesn't include such clauses. The most likely thing is that EA is holding this license close to it's chest and is using it along with everything else they have, as leverage to muscle Sony and other companies. Doing a deal with MS and not doing one with Sony could simply be a display of power from EA.

The truth is that we won't ever find out what's really going on behind the scenes, but I doubt MS would be in a position to make big demands when asking EA for a sub-license.

Yeah, someone has to break it to Porsche, that EA is not really acting in the best interests of the manufacturer, but rather their own.

Porsche, bail out!

In one e-mail already, Porsche has already answered that while they may not agree with EA's decisions, they are going to respect the fact that EA paid to have them exclusively & their representation of Porsche.
