Decide to contact Porsche today.

It's clearly a MUST marketing opportunity. There are so many Porsche fans or enthusiast waiting for this game "millions of cars enthusiast around the world".
Okay, it's pretty clear that you know nothing of marketing. Porsche is a household name and has already reached brand saturation. They cannot get any more publicity if they tried; everyone knows what a Porsche is. To suggest to Porsche's people that they don't know what they're doing - you might not have said it, but you certainly imply it - is stupidity. No wonder they only thanked you for your support of the marque and ignored everyhting else about the game.

If Porsche isn't in Gran Turismo, they probably have their reasons for it. Ferrari were not in the series for years because they did not like the idea that people could modify their cars. Others were absent due to the terms of the contracts.

In one e-mail already, Porsche has already answered that while they may not agree with EA's decisions, they are going to respect the fact that EA paid to have them exclusively & their representation of Porsche.

Okay, but are they gonna lay the name of Porsche at the hands of EA's whim? Are they just gonna let them control their image in the entertainment business without opposition?

I don't think that would be a wise move, and it parallels the other many poor decisions that have taken Porsche to where they are today.

They're not signing their life away. They'll have control over how their image is presented. They're actually doing the right thing in honouring their contract with EA.

I dont really see the need in contacting Porsche. You are just preaching to the choir. For all we know, people at Porsche are pissed that they wont be in GT5 because EA basically has them by the balls. It was their own fault (whether thru stupidity, ignorance, or arrogance) that they signed that deal with EA to begin with. Until the deal is up with EA, I dont expect to see Porsche in any GT series. When is their agreement up with EA, does anyone know?

With all due respect my friend, your comment highlights a total lack of marketing knowledge. To suggest that Porsche has reached brand saturation is a very naive comment. Does every person in the world know what a Porsche is? Does everyone own a Porsche? No. Do consumers continue to purchase Porsche's competitors products? Yes. Are you telling me Porsche are spending zero money on advertising? No.

Continued advertising is all about continuing to build a brand and to maximise awareness of that brand. Everyone knows what a can of coke is and yet you'll find coca cola has one of the largest advertising spend budgets of any multi-national corporation.

As does Mcdonalds, Walmart, Pepsi and a few others. They advertise for a reason, to make MORE MONEY! Porsche is no where near brand saturation IMO.

I would pay an extra $10 for GT5 if the Porsche manufacturer and the McLaren F1 were licenced. If just 5 million gamers buy GT5 and indeed the sales of PS3 consoles will go up, that's 50 million $!!!

Would everybody else make that sacrifice? If yes, could maybe Porsche come to an understanding with EA and PD to include the Porsche manufacturer?

Hmm, i would go up to £5, idk what the exchange rate is, i'm guessing thats around $7-8 atm. So yeah i guess PD could bump the price up to have extra cars in the game.

Or as mentioned before, they could release GT5, and then release DLC for Porsche. I would buy it.

You might pay more, a few on here might. But the majority of gamers will look at the price and thing "that's a rip off" because it's more than every other game. If 5 million gamers buy GT5 at £50 instead of £40 as it otherwise would have been, that's an extra £50million, but what if 10 million people would have bought the game at £40 instead. In that instance PD may have actually lost money.

True :(

While I'd be happy to pay more for a few more high profile licenses, say, throw in some Formula 1 deals on the side, I think DLC is the best chance for seeing Porsche and the other cars in GT5.

The fact that some manufacturers have asked to have their cars included in GT5 suggests to me that many in the auto industry are well aware of the GT series.

I have worked in business administration before, and letters such as these, especially when in large numbers, DO get noticed by management and discussed around the meeting tables. Any company takes an interest in their public perception...

I bet the Porsche execs are kicking themselves over their "exclusive" deal with EA...

Porsche CEO: "Dammit when does our deal with EA expire!"

Porsche CEO whatever advisor guy: "I'm afraid it won't until mid 2010 :("

Porsche CEO: "FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU!"

All in German
