DEEP FOREST 100 km
Race length: 28 laps

I always thought about putting my personal endurance events in Gran Turismo series, and since this track is very popular I thought to give it a shot to see how fun can it be to run long distances on tracks that have never been a part of endurance events. So, let's start with rules...

Rules:

1.) This events uses GT Mode mode as a event creator only.

2.) You can choose any car (cars with racing modifications are not allowed as well as Tuner Village vehicles) that has power to weight ratio greater than 3.000 (cars with 2.999 or less are not allowed). In order to calculate P/W ratio, divide car weight with horsepower like this:

e.g. Honda NSX TypeR '02 --- 1270 (kg) / 310 (hp) = 4.0967...

3.) Besides p/w ratio you also have to follow tuning restrictions below:
Code:
Exhausts --- All allowed
Brakes --- All allowed
Engine --- Nitro NOT allowed, everything else allowed
Drivetrain --- All allowed
Turbo kits --- All allowed
Suspension --- All allowed
Tyres --- Sport Medium Tyres Only
Other --- All allowed
GT Auto --- GT Wing NOT allowed, everything else allowed
TCS / ASM --- All allowed

4.) After you select your vehicle, submit following registration; this is how you gonna sign in for competition:

Name: Your name
Car: Full name of the vehicle
Class: Hp and weight of your car

CURRENT ENTRIES
Code:
Driver ------ Car -------------------- Hp / Weight ------ P/W Ratio
BH-21 Ginetta G4 '64 133hp / 413kg 3.105
Matej TVR Tamora '02 350hp / 1060kg 3.028
Vandenal RUF 3400S '00 389hp / 1183kg 3.041
Bopop4 Honda NSX Type R '02 380hp / 1155kg 3.039
Jet Badger BMW M3 CSL '03 399hp / 1218kg 3.052
Thc118 SLR Mclaren '03 650hp / 1951kg 3.001
Shotamagee Nissan 350Z (Z33) '03 376hp / 1128kg 3.000
Andy GT Mazda RX-8 '03 434hp / 1310kg 3.018

5.) In order to participate go to Original Circuit / Deep Forest (Forward version) / Race Meeting (Track Meet in NTSC version). As soon as you start from a pit lane you will have one warm-up lap before timer starts counting your laps. After that, run 28 laps and, as soon as you complete 28 lap (in other words, you will enter lap 29) exit the race and head straight to Save Replay option. Time shown there will be your submission via PM to Matej. You can submit as many times as you wish, and I'll count your best time.

6.) deleted.

7.) You should keep two wheels on the track all the time (rumble strips are part of the track) and avoid collision with AI cars or walls as much as possible.

8.) Wall-riding and any other cheat driving methods are forbidden.

9.) This challenge will run only once so, as soon as we pronounce our winner, competitors will have no more obligations for this challenge.

10.) Deadline for the submission is the 15th of July, 2012. 24 hours before deadline I'll post a little reminder as well as list of all drivers with demonstrated submissions.

Happy Racing!! :gtpflag:

I am SO going to make time for this.
"lso, once you submit your time you don't have right to correct your time so prepare yourself before heading to event."
What does that mean?
And can we run it over and over for a better overall time?

Actually, after thinking about this for a while I decided to remove that rule. It would create too much frustration since each driver would be allowed to run only once, irrespective of whether he makes mistake or not during driving. This is a game and fun is a top priority, above realism which I'm very prone to :D. So, due to stated reasons I'll change that, so back to your question Bopop4, yes, you can run this event over and over again, and you can update your times whenever you want (rule number 6 deleted.).

Ok then, but I doubt that I'll run this 10 times.

Edit: Now which car to pick, NSX, M3, R34, 3400S....
It'll take me more time to test the cars to see which one is fastest then it will to actually do the race.

Glad to see you back BH-21 :).

What about Tuner village cars that are also JGTC cars? (RE RX-7)
Good question, totally forgot about these special vehicles. Well, I did little research and came up with following: Tuner Village cars are not allowed. Reason is simple; some of them are capable of having adjustable downforce which would lead to unfair advantage.

It's possible to find replacement for those cars so that shouldn't be a big problem; however, there might be some exemptions which are fair enough to drive with (Trial Celica for e.g.), so if someone is highly interested he can ask for specific Tuner Village car and I will give permission or prohibition, but in general Tuner Village cars are forbidden and it's best to start from that point (Rule number 2 fixed.).

So it's fine if a street car has some downforce if it is totally stock right?
And I don't think that I'll be able to race the Lotus 7 because this is a track meet. :(
Ah well, off to find a torque monster!

This looks fun, I will definitely try to submit an entry.

Querys;
1. Do you want us to manually work out the PWR as in the OP, or couldn't / shouldn't we use the PWR value that GT4 provides in the Garage menu? (they can be different)

2. Can we use ballast to get a car over the 3.000 figure?

I'm not in front of my Ps2 right now, so can someone tell me if this race mode features tyre wear?

Thats all I can think of for now.

Yep, p/w ratio can be different depending on whether you use values from garage or car setting screen and so on... Be free to use p/w ratio from garage list or from car settings menu. It should give you higher values than those from replay or car rotation mode (in garage).

Also, you can use ballast to reach 3.000 value but it should stay in center of the car. And there is no tyre wear in race meeting/track meet mode, I guess we'll have to live with that :( .

Glad to see familiar faces. đź‘Ť

Is the ballast in pounds or in kilos?
Because even if you change the units I don't think that the ballast units change.

And a VERY important note, the timer actually starts counting from the second you start the race, so don't dilly dally on the warm up lap!

Yep, go with a full throttle as soon as you exit from the pit lane. Oh, and pit lane is useless during the race, entering will lead back to the race menu so don't use it !!

Also, corners 5 and 11 have small parts that are covered with concrete, so those parts should be treated like a grass or sand. In other words, only half width of the car should run over them (two wheels on track rule). These will keep us from doing unfair shortcuts.

I'm also gonna update driver entries in the first post (registration part added).

Now it's time to find some car to deal with. Maybe I'll go with Impreza models or maybe something from a UK fleet. Certainly, I will try to avoid models that usually appear on enduros. :yuck:

What models usually appear in enduros?
I just tested some cars and went for the fastest one.
And it's fun to feel the handling change as the fuel burns off.

I'm close for taking Impreza '01 Prodrive because I never used any Subi models in any enduro events. That's all there is to my previous statement :). But any car is good as long as you enjoy driving it.

The first car that I took out was an NSX, but I felt that it was too twitchy for consistant lap times. (TTs would be fine but I need consistency in the laps.)
After experimenting with some theories about weight, (going from 649-1670kgs) nothing went as well as the NSX. It was about 3 seconds faster than a 3000GT and 4 seconds faster than an Elise.
I was struggling for 1:24s with the Lotus. :scared:

I've just bought a G27 last week and will be having 3 day-offs starting on monday , I'm so doing this. I also have a 1255kg 320hp NSX-R in my GT4 garage, that, and a GSX-R. :dopey:

đź’ˇ BTW, does GT4 allow Family Cup lap count to be set as high as 28 laps? Doing this in Track Meet mode won't be as fun.

Sadly, Family Cup races supports only 2 laps, no option to increase or decrease them either. :(

I may run more than one vehicle but this one will be the first.

Thanks for clarification

No tire wear Shotamagee.

Cool that widens the car choice's. Means those that are porkier / 4wd's will still be decent choice's.

And it's fun to feel the handling change as the fuel burns off.

Yup, which means I should use a powerful car as they use more fuel right?, well yes but, low power / low weight cars they don't need to use as much fuel to get the same % decrease in weight. :) I can be pretty nerdy about these things.

Here it is, my hope:

Name: Matej
Car: Subaru Impreza WRX STI Prodrive Style '01

I gave my Skyline a workout last night, so I'll move onto this car.

Thc118
Lotus Elan S1 '62
200 HP, 601 kg, 3.002 kg/HP

I went out for a testing session with a 2.999 W:P and 30 miles later it dropped to 2.997.
I guess the little Lotus is burning a bit of oil! One kg of ballast and we're back in business.

Lol I don't think that it'll make much of a difference, even 10hp hardly does anything noticable.

And what kind of times is everybody getting?

Ok, but you'll need to tell me your final choice so that I can add you to the list. Basically, everyone can change their current car, but after first time submission, car should stay the same.

Guess I'll be the only one who dares to use 4wd car. :sly:

@Bopop4: So far, I'm messing around 1:24 per lap, but that's just the beginning.

Mind if I register? Driver - vandenal. Car - 2000 RUF 3400S. HP/Weight - 389hp/1183kg. P/W Ratio - 3.041

I guess I'll lock in my entry.

Driver: Bopop4
Car: Honda NSX Type R 2002
Power: 380Hp
Weight: 1155Kg
P/W Ratio: 3.04

(I may run it in a bit to get a couple more HP.)

Best lap of a high 1'18.
