It's my first ever pre order.lol figures, i just pre ordered it. I'm having deja vu from GT5 launch
PCARS. GT7 doesn't even have a release datewhat comes first GT7 or PCARS?
I'm not sure if that is accurate. There have only been 2 official release dates delayed I'm aware of. Last fall, and the recent one.It has actually been delayed 4 times , but if it makes the game good, that's all that matters.
I think it was supposed to come out in 2012 but didn't. It was definitely delayed in 2013, then 2014, and now.I'm not sure if that is accurate. There have only been 2 official release dates delayed I'm aware of. Last fall, and the recent one.
Do you have a link to the official release date or delay announcements?I think it was supposed to come out in 2012 but didn't. It was definitely delayed in 2013, then 2014, and now.
It was when SMS decided to not go the last gen route over a year agoDo you have a link to the official release date or delay announcements?
This GameSpot piece refers to last fall as the "original release date". CarThrottle agrees.
PCARS. GT7 doesn't even have a release date
Umm, yeah? If there's now release date, especially on a AAA game. Then it likely won't be out for a long while.Like that matters
But there was no release date announced at that time, it was only an internal decision followed by speculation about a release date. The only official dates were last fall and this spring. Maybe a member could clarify this.It was when SMS decided to not go the last gen route over a year ago
Yes, no date was set. It wasn't an official delay, but I think that they were intending to release that year to begin with. But yes a member should clarify. But there was no release date announced at that time, it was only an internal decision followed by speculation about a release date. The one thing I'm puzzled over, is that it was delayed from last year 'due to heavy competitive period', but now 'development issue'.....mmmm

This isn't like designing a new toaster, stamping out a few parts and and slapping the thing together in a factory. Plug it in and if it heats up, you're good to go. There are millions upon millions of lines of code here and I'm sure SMS is well aware that if the game is released with major and/or minor flaws, the sim community is going to go ballistic over it. I'm sure they aren't sitting around a table saying, "We don't care about the customers, to hell with them, delay it another few weeks". C'mon you can't really believe that. They are delaying the game for us, not to spite us.Exactly this.
I was unhappy with the first delay but it had an commercial background and to be honest I can understand that; the reason itself sounded very honest. Now, months later, the game itself isn't ready for release?
All the delays in the past, from all the developers; they really do not seem to care regarding the 3 C's of customer satisfaction. I am also working in project management, if stuff like that would happen on a regular basis.. gsus..
Up to now I hope, that in a distant future, pre-order Customers get compensated for such things.
I'm 100% serious. Every AAA game gets a release date some time before release. With 2 weeks to go til PCARS, I seriously doubt PD will release GT7 in that time frame
Exactly, why would SMS 🤬 off the community for their first community driven game? This isn't like designing a new toaster, stamping out a few parts and and slapping the thing together in a factory. Looks like the community is already pissed off, which I'm very disappointed by.I'm 100% serious. Every AAA game gets a release date some time before release. With 2 weeks to go til PCARS, I seriously doubt PD will release GT7 in that time frame

Everyone was all happy with the game being out in March, then a 2 week delay and the whole community gets 🤬 off. This annoys me as I am not disappointed, and I've been waiting for a good track racing game since my GT6 stopped working a year ago. But then again it gives me more money to save for the game for release, so I'm relieved that it is delayedLooks like the community is already pissed off, which I'm very disappointed by.
The internetz will always be crowded with "Chicken Littles", the "sky is falling" types, who rage at every little bump or imperfection. Not discuss it like normal human beings, but just go over a cliff when they are disappointed and no amount of logic or reason is going to bring them back. Still we try and bring them back by responding to their concerns, knowing that they probably will never get it, but that someone else reading our response might get it and a lightbulb:idea: will go on. We all understand disapointment, that's never an issue, disappointment leading to rage and irrationality we don't get.Everyone was all happy with the game being out in March, then a 2 week delay and the whole community gets 🤬 off. That's pretty much the story. The first official and actual release date was November 2014. Prior to that the initial estimates were a bit optimistic, which is standard fare in software developmentBut there was no release date announced at that time, it was only an internal decision followed by speculation about a release date. Thanks for the clarification. I think it's good that SMS have been able to say "ok, we need more time to develop this" and really take the time to make this game amazing. A lot of games are hitting the shelves full of bugs and issues, hopefully pcars will counteract this nasty trendThat's pretty much the story. It was taken that way because that is what SMS said the reason for the delay was. When BS was called and the real state of the game admitted (or whatever you want to call it), that they changed the story to needing more dev time. Don't put that on the sim community SMS tried to sell that BS.Do I need to quote myself? The main reason for the November delay was NOT commercial, it was that the game needed more work. The part about the launch window back then being full of competition was just an additional point they (shouldnt have) made, that somehow got blown up into the big main reason for the delay back then, even though it wasnt that.
Observe @FLX1981 did say they shouldn't have done it.It was taken that way because that is what SMS said the reason for the delay was. I'll call BS on you and anyone else that distorts or misrepresents the truth. The game was delayed for two reasons in the fall and this was confirmed in internal postings. Competition and polishing/bug fixing. It was the story from the beginning and it's false to say they changed the story in any way, since the internal memos/posts were exactly the same. The press release given to the public is obviously a softer sell, but the information is the same. A rational person would also realize that even without the competition, the game would still have been delayed because it wasn't ready. It was taken that way because that is what SMS said the reason for the delay was. Source Clearly outlines both the initial rumour and internal memo/post to the community, and the subsequent announcement.
@Johnnypenso provided facts, so more than just "opinion"👍 your opinion.
Edit: The internal statement makes it clear, not the press release.
