Demspey's Le Man podium finish: Great for Motorsport as a whole?

Kim Kardashian would have to buy a team and raffle fan passes to get folks interested in motorsport. Keanu Reeves, Seal, Pharrell, Boris Becker, big names come to these events and it still does nothing for main stream exposure. People only know about the big once a year events. Any more than that and attention spans dwindle to nothing. Let Melbourne, NYC, London Housewives babble about racing and maybe we'll have someting to help us revheads.

The absolute drizzling 🤬 of society. A documentary would be more interesting. But then, that wouldn't draw in the non-motorsport fans, would it?

Perhaps I should have said "TV documentary"... there are some "reality" shows that are unstaged and genuine... but these are veeery few and veeeery far between.

There's this little race they do in your country, I'm sure you know the one I mean... Tougher track, more traffic, more changeable weather, closer racing... ;)

Yeah I know. I actually like that even more. But I wanted to make a point :sly:

To be honest it annoys me the attention he have. When he's racing he's just another racing driver, he's doing his job but the attention he gets is unfair for all the other drivers doing the same things.

Not his fault I admit. I dont have anything bad to say on him. It was funny when Francois Hollande and him met and Mr president had no idea who he was lol.

Very much this. The GTE Am podium ceremony at Le Mans was painful to watch. The MC bigged up Dempsey much more than the other drivers, leaving quite a gap between his teammates and him coming out on to the podium; once there the MC did a half hearted, 30 second interview with one of the winning drivers (the only other catagory that got interviews was LMP1-H), then spent about 3 minutes with Dempsey, ignoring all the other drivers and team owners. It was awful.

Sounds a lot like the special treatment a certain female driver has been getting in America. I agree, it's horrendous.

And with all due respect, I've never heard of Mr. Dempsey at all before reading this thread. Good for him if he was able to get a podium, but talent-wise he doesn't seem to be any more "special" than his peers, and thus shouldn't deserve special attention from the media.

Brown nosing.

Patronising.

Merit counts for nothing if you're "different".
