Loving the new shape in red/black.
Though the mirror top, black buttons and red base (mclaren look) would be a certain purchase for me.

Would you fancy making one Derek (with rotary) for my chrome black styled cockpit?

Load Cell Amplifier with Variable Gain Control
what is this and how does it work?
deos it work with AP electrix load cell?

The variable gain adjustment on my load cell board allows the user to adjust his final brake pedal pressure to reach maximum channel bandwidth at his own preferable foot pressure. It's just like the sensitivity knob on Fanatec's Clubsport pedals. You can't connect the AP device to a load cell amp.

@Mr Latte - I may make more of the mirror ones, but I am undecided. I have another one I am doing, and will put it out there when it's ready.

Hi Friends,

I like to do some interesting expressions, and I had some time yesterday to make what had been swirling in my head for the past couple of weeks. Below is a Velocity r3 in white/mirror and metallic silver and a Track Boss in the same colors with silver CF vinyl. Still debating what to do with them, though.

   DAAMMMMN!! Sorry for that but I love the bling and these are the SHHHHii...

Long time lurker here but stumbled upon this thread and now I wish I didn't. Those button boxes, I mean "Input Devices" ;) are fantastic. I always wondered why people needed those things and thought they just seemed to add clutter and get in the way (back when I only raced on consoles).

There have been some very nice illustrations in this thread of people integrating them into their rig and I now can see how they can add to the immersion factor and above else they just look cool (especially these!!).

Mr Speare thanks for showing me the light, err bling! I will be ordering your bent rod GT sequential (again because of this thread, I'm a paddle user but this thing seems to add to the immersion a great deal also) and tilton style pedal pads for my CSP's.

I hold out hope that you decide to make more of the mirror/metalic Velocitys as I badly want to order an R5 like that! Can I put in a PRE-order? :D

Regards

Thank you for your interest :gtpflag:

An Input Interface/Button Box is a vital necessity! Having an array of logically placed buttons at hand's reach allows you to access much needed commands without being distracted from the racing and driving. It's a simple device but makes a big difference!

I don't have more parts to make the mirrored Velocity. Unfortunately, the one I made has some blemishes on it so its fate is yet to be determined. I have another mirrored one planned, though this one will be a bit unique. I'll make sure I post the photos. I may consider offering the mirrored version from my site.

Cheers and happy racing!

Thanks for the reply derekspeare. May I ask what the difference is between the functions of the buttons versus the toggle switches, and what is the purpose of the rotary encoders? Is it an advantage to have one set of switches over the other? Figured I'd get the R5 and have all my bases covered.

What is the approximate weight of the Velocity? Trying to figure out how I would attach to the rig. Is it too heavy to be attached to a mount with Velcro or would I need to screw it on? Any mounting holes on the back?

Also, do the Sequential shifter and Velocity come with a USB cable supplied? If so what length?

Forgive all the questions, I'm a bit new to this... made sure to look on your site before I asked though. Oh and if the blemished one you have needs a home...:D

Thanks

@Cheeba - everything you want to know is on my site:

Some "high res" Pedal Pr0n!

Hi Friends,

I'm getting closer to a final design and preparing for some production issues. The last rack I made showed me some things needing my attention. I am quiet about this component, but when I have something to report, I report it.

The "Bull Pup" desgin is one which uses 50% less material and 66% less CNC time. Since the component frame will be made from 3/8" 6061 Aluminum, that's a significant reduction in the cost it takes to make the frame assembly.

My good friend Hampus Anderson was kind enough to lend his talent in putting together these pre-production images. I must say the DSD Hydraulic Pedal System looks pretty nice :)

Thanks for taking the time to look. Please keep in mind that I don't communicate information in private that I don't release for public review, so if you write me asking about this component, you will be kindly directed to this thread :)

I know there will be a lot of questions, and I even know what they will be. Know that the questions will be answered in time. When that time be will be is something on which we all will have to wait :)

Cheers and happy racing!

PS - For a side note and discussion, I am very much working to make this (almost) final design "invertable" for those who want to invert them. There's some geometrical issues to sort out, but nothing too difficult.

Can we order width desired if wider than 13.5"? That way we can adjust pedal spacing.

Derek
have just bought fanatec Csw and CSP V2

But I want your shifter! !

If I buy the RJ11 to G27 cable from Fanatec and your USB to G27 will this work?

or just a straight USB female to RJ11 male converter?

.....or am I dreaming?

Regards

Id sincerely doubt it. Not sure about any RJ11 to G27 cable, but the thing from Fanatec is an RJ11 (360pedals) and G27 pedal to PS2 adapter to go into the fanatec wheel. (im assuming you're just confusing RJ11 and PS2, RJ11 is a phone jack which is what the 360 pedals use, ps2 is like a mouse or keyboard that the Fanatec shifters use.)

It only works for pedals, not shifters, and Dereks adapter is for pedals too, I believe.

The USB coming from Derek's shifter is coming from its own controller, so its a bit different than just swapping the wires to get the bare signal from the switches inside. (so you would basically need something in the realm of the interfaceone board to convert the signal the controller in the shifter to something the wheel understands, if you were wanting something like an adapter.)

AFAIK, you would need to pretty much open the shifter, and put new wires coming from the switches into a ps2 connection to plug into the wheel.

These are the pins on the PS2 connector that fanatec uses for the sequential.

Thank you guys for the interest. On the point of the shifter, please note that I don't support or recommend modifications to my components. My Pro Sequential Shifters are fully integrated devices and USB only. They're not for the PS3.

Cheers!

d

PS - Stay tuned for another Limited Edition Velocity a bit later today ;)

Have you considered to make version with only two pedals (without clutch)?
It would reduce the price and make it accessible for more people and consider that there are a lot of sim-racers that don't use the clutch pedal.

It's very unlikely that I'll offer a two pedal version.

Here's a new Velocity r5 in the mirror finish. It's not painted and is black like the standard Velocity. This one was another tester, and there's a few blems on it, so my apologies there.

It's ready for a home, though ;) :gtpflag:

Derek I'll buy the velocity if there are no takers.

Also on the pedal front, will the clutch have a mechanical pause like the CSP V2? I would love these pedals but I love the clutch on the V2 clubsports.

thanks

Your comment that I don't provide support is absolutely false. You've contacted me via email about your situation. I explained to you that if your button box is functioning in Windows then you will have no issue with connecting it and using it with any racing sim you want that supports game controllers.

The box was in good order when I shipped it and you've not indicated it doesn't function. I've made my recommendations for what to do.

Ok, didn't think much about the button box, too excited driving with the Fanatec CSW.

I asked you if you know about problems with rFactor and you said that you can't help me with that. I am just used to a little more support than receiving a 3 sentence mail back to solve the problem myself. Meanwhile I found lots of posts from you on forums talking about the controller limit in rF?

Nevertheless, using only the button box together with either the Fanatec Porsche or the Fanatec CSW lets me configure the button box in rF but the wheels are both DEAD. And I disconnected ALL other USB devices. So it's not the controller limit, is it? Funny thing is, my old button box with Leo Bodnars BU0836 works great together with both wheels in rF. So something is different with your button box...

If my device functions in windows and tests clear, then it functions without issue. Any other problems must be addressed with the publishers of the software you're using.

I'm fortunate to have thousands of devices working worldwide. I'm confident you'll sort out the problem specific to your computer.

The above comments make want to laugh. What comes to mind is an awful spaghetti incident and a maze of jumbled wires. Anyone who has used DSD knows it is simply plug and play. Where is this confusion coming from?

Learn to read: only connected devices DS button box and Fanatec CSW (and keyboard and mouse, of course). And another button box works perfectly with the Fanatec CSW. The problems only happen in rF and GTR Evo, not in rF2 or LfS. The only confusion is: why is the DS button box screwing up rF.

My device isn't inhibiting the operation of your software. You've reported that my device functions without issue in some titles but not in others. Any reasonable person would conclude it's not the device but something else.

My devices are tested for proper function in all of the sims out there. That you have the issue you have reported indicates the issue is not with my component.

I would like to know this too. Or is this not possible because the current design is in final stage. Or maybe even some patent issues?
Greetings
