I'm glad I read up a few posts. I thought "not applicable" meant ineligible for voting. :scared:

Last idea-infield road courses?

Will probably start the next comp tomorrow-need to start studying for exams.

How about modifying an existing circuit? I know a lot of people are disappointed with the way the Hockenheim modification turned out; the challenge could be to get us to make changes to the circuit to make it better, but at the same time retain enough of the original character so that we know which one it is.

I know, that's why I suggested it. It would have to be a circuit of our choice, though, because I really want to take a crack at the Hungaroring.

Circuit Modification Round

Pick a circuit to modify. It doesn't have to be part of the current calendar-but the track must actually exist.

As a result, we will need three images again. One showing the modified track on a white background, a map of the original track, and some kind of combined version with the modifications in RED.

You have two weeks to submit your entry.

Touring Mars, if you could PM me your idea for the next round by the end of voting, that would be fantastic.

Thanks guys, good luck, and...

Go.

It's not an entry but I would suggest taking the current Silverstone circuit and replacing it with the pre-woodcote chicane version. Job done.

Aintree, world famous for racing, but not with cars despite hosting the British Grand Prix five times.

This is a work in progress, okay?

The 2010 Hungarian Grand Prix would go down in history as one of Formula One's finest moments.

The economic crisis of 2009 meant that the race organisers seriously considered dropping their event from the calendar, but a surprise come-from-behind victory by Poland's Robert Kubica in the race saw Formula One undergo an early renaissance in Eastern Europe and the 2010 event was guaranteed. The deteriorating surface had attracted criticism all weekend, an so the organisers decided to take the unusual step of reconfiguring the cirtcuit and address the issues with the current layout.

"They said 'You worry about the circuit, Mr. Tilke. We'll worry about the dilligence'," recalled the reknowned German architect Hermann Tilke on what prompted his design. What he created was nothing less than one of the most demanding circuits in the world. The first major change came in the form of the direction: the Hungaroring was now run in an anti-clockwise fashion, with a new high-speed section added to replace the old switchbacks.

The other change was a new infield section that Jenson Button would famously describe as being "like playing Russian Roulette, but with only one empty chamber". The new section consisted or four major apexes; a tightening-radius corner followed by an opening-radius, and the another tightening and opening section. To make matters even harder, no two radii were identical, and each corner was linked by a high-speed left kink that could only be taken flat out on fresh tyres and when a driver was feeling particularly brave.

But the 2010 race very nearly didn't happen. The European labour strikes of February 2010 meant that the circuit fell behind in its development, and the new Hungaroring looked set to miss its debut, and the investment meant that if such an event transpired, the circuit would go bankrupt. But thanks to significant investment from Bernie Ecclestone, the Hungarian Grand Prix was rescheduled as the final event on the 2010 calendar. And what a race it was.

Going into Hungary, three drivers were looking to win the title: defending World Champion Jenson Button for the Brawn, Sebastian Vettel in the new Red Bull RB6-II and championship leader Lewis Hamilton, remaining in the McLaren. A dispute over team orders in late 2009 saw Rubens Barrichello leave Brawn, convincing his friend Richard Branson to invest in the now-defunct Renault outfit and renaming it Virgin Grand Prix, whilst trading Robert Kubica for Fernando Alonso at BMW. Brawn, meanwhile, had found significant investment from Russia after taking a chance on newcomer Vitaly Petrov; the Hungaroring was now a home-away-from-home for two of the sport's most bitter rivals.

Button and Barrichello clashed early in the race, forcing both to make early pitstops. Their races effectively over, the two drivers continued fighting on-track for the rest of the race; both eventually retired. A similar Virgin vs. Brawn battle was also taking place at the front between Petrov and Kubica for second place behind Vettel while Lewis Hamilton fought to pass them; if Kubica won, Hamilton had to finish no less than third to win his second championship. It was not to be, as Petrov and Kubica fought each other so hard that they cross the line at the exact same time; both of them declared to have finished second. With his victory, Vettel moved ahead of Hamilton, taking the 2010 title by just half a point, making it the closest finish in Formula One history.

Composite coming soon!

First draft - will post final versions (i.e. within the rules!) early next week:

A high speed, shortened version of the classis 24 Heures de Mans circuit (Circuit de la Sarthe), incorporating the opening section of the original track, a few corners of the Moto GP (Bugatti) circuits at Le Mans, and connected by new stretches of track designed to resemble famous corners in the further reaches of the 24 Heures De Mans circuit.

Welcome to Knockhillihkconk F1 Circuit! For many years, Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife, Scotland has played host to a variety of sporting events, such as the BTMC (British Touring Mars Championship), British Superbikes, and "The Festival of Rain". Hosting Formula One, however, has been our dream for many years. Sadly, the circuit was deemed to short, and so we had to think of a way of preserving our circuit's distinctive features and famous bends, whilst also lengthening the track substantially. Our new 3.8 km F1 circuit (owned and operated by Aston Martian Ltd.) not only boasts most of the original features of the old Knockhill track, but now has them in mirror image too, even the dirt track near the circuit has been reproduced in reverse! As an extra bit of fun, we have named the new features as mirror images of the originals, all the way down to the trackside facilities, which include a brand new dnatsdnarg, strops rab, naelc steliot and eip pohs!

I'd forgotten about this comp!

Give me an hour or so and i'll knock out a quick entry.

Do half the teams use 1 pits - and the other half use the other?

Perhaps left handed people can choose to use the mirrored pits?!

:) Nice work, Dan 👍 Maybe that is why GT5 is taking so long... PD have been busy building that!

My suggested theme is: LONG! The circuit needs to be longer than any existing F1 circuit, the less laps required the better

Alrighty then-give it another day or two, depending on entry numbers, and I will start voting.

Feel free to enter as many tracks as you wish!
