Mine will be posted up soon, it is taking ages. Only got MS paint to work with so its isn't going to look like The Cracker's. :P

I thought I had found a great track, until I noticed one of the roads had speedhumps on them :ill:

Stunning track choice Chris. 👍

[edit]

What are the rules on circuit adaptations, say removing central reservations, adding a bit of track width in certain places?

Roundabouts etc. can be ignored, as can speedhumps.

Track width is irrelevant.

Started doing one in... could even run it with 6 different configurations... but I wasn't going to post it as the 'GP' track was probably ~8km... too long... (?)

Not as professional as the other two...

Black 10.31km

Pink 5.7km
Aqua 7.9km
Yellow 5.2km
Green 3.4km

Timaru, New Zealand

Should've spend more time numbering or naming the corners...

"Black Course" 10.31km

From the start we turn left to work our way to the loop, unique in F1 it's a continuous right of 270 degrees while climbing 8-10 metres over about 500m of track. Turn left for a short downhill section before another uphill section to the overpass before it levels off.

A level double right that leads to a small straight that starts downhill before climbing to turn left (unused track on this track is immediately to the right) on the flat. A kink right at the highest part of the course (another 15-20m above the top of the loop) before a another downhill section with a small left kink at the bottom of the hill.

Tricky double apex right continues the flat section, a small straight before a tight turn onto the long 'straight'. The track rises to first kink to the left, flattens out before a tighter right hand kink that leads downhill. Accelerate again (past the unused section to the right, we're at the lowest part of the course apart from the pit complex section).

Rise again in 6th gear cresting at the point where the 'loop connector' section flashes by to your left. A slight veer to the right continues the undulating 'straight' a slight chicane may require a lift from those not so brave.

The straight ends with two closely uphill rights, before we head downhill again towards the pit complex. A short straight is ended with a left hand kink before a 90 degree right, the brave here can straighten the kink and take the 90 tighter as a late breaking overtake, facillitaiting this manuoevre is another unused connector on this configuration.

A sweeping left, with pit entrance to the right, takes you back to the pit straight for another testing lap...

Interesting circuits guys 👍 - where are Oceanside Complex and Lagan Loop situated? (ie country & city?)

hellnback and Peterram430

Nice tracks, but you need to supply a blank map also to comply with the rules.

Supply three images. Both drawn and map, map only, lines only.

Shouldn't be too difficult though. 👍

Putting my track together now, hope its worth all the effort. :mischievous:

amazing, I used to always doodle race tracks, make run off areas, grand stands, pits and all sorts while I was at work and had nothing to do. Nearly all of the tracks I made would have a replica of eau rouge and copse in them. Nice tracks people. Touring Mars gtpring reminds me of special stage on gt4. maybe its the colours. I can see it as a night race. IF gt5 had a track editor then then this idea would be absoloutly epic, I cant see it happening though.

I have finished mine, but how do make the images appear large in my post rather than thumbnails? I have imageshack although I don't know how to use it properly. :P

Okay, here's my entry. With Ecclestone announcing that he's in preliminary talks with the Argentinians, I decided to do one in Argentina (even though I hope Potrero de los Funes in San Luis hosts it). So this is it, the Córdoba Street Circuit.

This is the section of Córdoba that will be used for the circuit:

This is the circuit as it would appear:

These are the two merged together:

The circuit is 5.77 kilometres long, with the race run over 54 laps in a clockwise direction; total distance, 311.58 kilometres. The Start/Finish Line is represented by the red slash across the circuit; Pit Lane is the extended red section. The orange and yellow slashes represent the second and third sectors.

Here's my entry:

Took a bit longer than expected but I finished it eventually. :dunce:

Apologies for the corner names lacking imagination, my Itallian isn't very good so i just went for the greek alphabet. It doesn't look particularly impressive like the crackers, I only had good old MS Paint to work with.:P

Did the distance thing on Google Maps for my entry...

Quite astonishing how quickly distance adds up

Black 10.31km
Blue 8km
Pink 5.7km
Aqua 7.9km
Yellow 5.2km
Green 3.4km

Although it's about time the FIA looks at race distance... 300km limit was a test for steel drum brakes, radial belt tyres, manual gearboxes with four gears, rack & pinion steering.

With todays technology of semi-automatic gearboxes, carbon fibre brakes, engine management control, space-age alloy gearboxes etc etc...

For F1 to remain a 'test' for this new age, race distance needs to be increased... 400km or even 500km...

While that is true, they want the race too fit into 2 hours so it works better commercially with TV stations.

You don't find many stations that would fully cover a 24 hour race for example.

As it stands, I think F1 races are a decent length. Just watching the 24 hours of the Nurburgring today, I can certainly see the appeal of longer races though.

Preferrably something everyone can do. I don't know if Trackmania requires certain software, but if it does, some of us are automatically out because we don't have it.

Great work guys, particularly liking GP Torino!

As for the next stage of the comp, the simpler the better ;)

Trackmania is a racing game with a track-building side to it.

Feel free to suggest themes for the competition.

And, by the way, entry is meant to be over. But, because I have the flu, I'm really not in the mood to make to voting post right now. If someone wants to do it, great. Otherwise, I'll do it tomorrow.

Trackmania's avaliable for free download (well, part of it anyways) and doesn't require an expensive or even half-decent computer to run, so I think it could be feasible.

Late Entry, but oh well...

Picture the scene...

The year is 2016. Formula One has survived the financial crisis. Renault are back on top, and with Alonso retired since 2014 Frenchman Romajn Grosjean is looking to win his second title.

Meanwhile, everyone's favourite human rights abuser North Korea's Kim Jong-Il brought himself a copy of Codemaster's Formula One 2014 for his PS3. He liked it, and soon became a big motorsports fan. Naturally, he wanted North Korea to get involved. So being the total lunatic he is, he spent half of the country's budget on the track itself, and the other half bribing Bernie to work with him, bribing the FIA to give the project the all clear even though the proposed venue was completely and utterly suicidal for F1 cars to be driving on, and bribing the drivers not to boycott the race due to the country's terrible human rights record. He even cancelled the Mass Games and nuclear development that year. The proposed venue would be located around a small resevoir near a hilly upland region.

8km long and boasting a 2 and a half km straight, the track with it's many gradient and camber changes got the instant thumbs up from the drivers. In a chaotic race with safety cars, pit blunders and much overtaking going down to turn 1, Ireland's Adam Carroll won the inaugural Mass GP for Lola. And despite the questionable location, the F1 paddock couldn't wait for next year.

Nice work 👍 North Korea, eh? Now even Bernie might struggle getting a race set up there...!

And welcome to GTP, Not Applicable. :)

, thanks for the welcome.:) I wanted to set a race in a place like North Korea or Zimbabwe from the start to highlight Bernie's insanity, but then I realised that's pretty much impossible. So I made up a silly story about Kim Jong-Il getting addicted to a Playstation game. Somehow, it works.

OK, voting thread now up. One week as of the timing of this post, so get cracking. Same as before. If you didn't catch it, all posts should follow the following format:

3pts-<Best track>
2pts-<2nd best track>
1pt-<3rd best track>

Sorry for the mix-and-match selection of images. I chose what best articulated the track.

As always, graphics are irrelevant in your voting.

After the next round, as the inaugural winner, Touring Mars will have the theme choice.

And, as always, suggest themes for the next round.
