Not a very good day today:

...I still love the GTO. It is in fact one of my "reasonable dream cars," however, I don't think Black would be my color of choice... I've always liked the Purple or Teal colors...

You.....rushintouchin......:grumpy: how dare you call a Aston Martin like that one of the most beautiful of them, a Jaguar!!! :grumpy:

There's one. Come on daan, get in here and make it two.

Purple? You mean dark red?

:D

Ha ha. Seriously though, for some reason I like Purple cars...

Its the best image I can find of the color... I've personally never seen too many in that color. Most of them around here are either black, red or yellow. Silver too I guess...

I've never seen any that color - I tend to like purple as a color, but rarely on cars, save the Lamborghini Diablo SE30 Jota. Another car I'd like to see.

Most GTOs I see (and it's a miracle when I see one) are silver, red, or black. Silver is a bad color - I always used to argue that it's nice that the car looks boring because then it's a sleeper, but silver just makes it look like a rental car. Black is good, I suppose, and of course red and yellow are more fitting to the performance of the vehicle. I'm not sure I'd buy it in that purple color.

Can't be bothered. I know you're not serious.

Just a Jaguar! A Jaguar with Aston badges! Look at the similarities between that vehicle and the Jaguar XK8 which debuted much earlier. Oh what a Jaguar that Jaguar is!

Jeez - there's a reference. I'm going to count this as an upset British member
Oh, right. Is this me upset? Just so I know for future reference.

hope that ultrabeat (Danny - I don't even know what his username is now) gets in here soon and doesn't make me a liar.
Bit late for that, is it not? 💡

Yesterday I actually took a few pictures with my phone but never even thought of posting them up. Blame Doug.

Here's My first S6. I just saw the wheels as I was cruising through NCR's parking lot. The guy took all the badges off but the "V10" on the side...

And here's a rare spot that I was super-excited about. It's not very often that I see an Acura Integra Type R in my area. Lots of look-alikes, but this one was real. He had it lowered with some Falken R-compound rubber and that's all.

That's my beast in the background btw. And I just noticed his lack of a front license plate. What a rebel.

 Good spots - and if that's the quality of your camera phone, then damn - you're rivaling my digital camera!

I have to admit, I hate that color and those wheels on that S6. I've seen several now, each in black - that color isn't even half as intimidating.

Actually the qualtiy was miserable. It was a cloudy day and my lens was dusty, so the pics were really unsaturated. While fiddling I discovered "unsharp mask" and was wowed by the weirdo effect it did, so I slathered the pictures with it.

I've got a few more that I'll hopefully get up today. I'm at my buddy's workplace trying to get him fired right now.

BAH!! I wish I had known about this thread when I first moved to Gaithersburg, I don't know if I mentioned it before in here, but for the first few weeks I lived there, one of the other folks in the development had an E34 M5, a Dodge Charger done up exactly like the General Lee, an Early Countach and some sort of old Chrysler 300 (not sure what letter but it was from the 50s or 60s). All of which he drove on a regular basis... I could not make up a more motley crew of rare Iron.

You fricken' Commie. You see, at first, I thought you were referring to the V12 Vanquish, which looks pretty good, so I was about to complain. Then, I saw what I assume was either a new XK or a V8 Vantage or a DB9 (or maybe an accident at the Premier Auto Group plant, where they were merged and no one noticed) in tabs' post, so I stopped. Then, I saw that you were actually referring to the DB7. So, in conclusion, go build a wall in Berlin, Douglas Stalin. You see that? I got all Joe McCarthy on ya'.

Hm? You got the joke backwards. Its supposed to make fun of Jaguar, not Aston. It makes no sense that way, unless you are making fun of people who truly think the Aston came second.

Oh my god. I have found its brother:

 How did we get such a group of Aston-Martin lovers here?!

Indeed, I was - the first time I ever made the 'DB7 looks like an XK8' allusion, someone immediately came on here and informed me that the DB7 came out first and that the real copycat was the Jaguar.

Yeah, right.

Caught this today - same vehicle as last week (Ohio temporary plates). I love this car - I hope to see it around all summer, and I really hope it gets Colorado plates pretty soon and stays local. Beautiful.

Most A8s are A8Ls (as that one is) - they debuted a year before the short-wheelbase, all 12-cylinder models are Ls, and I believe the Ls outsell the regular model even in 4.2-liter guise.

Personally I hate it because the short-wheelbase is considerably better-looking. And I absolutely despise those showy wheels, which are against everything Audi stands for as far as subtlety is concerned.

I thought all A8s in the US were long wheelbase? Or does that only apply to the S8? I'm sure all our Phaetons were long wheelbase versions.

In 2003 all A8s were long-wheelbase, but we got the short-wheelbase model available in 2004. However also in 2004 we got the 6-liter W12, which is available only in long-wheelbase. All S8s are short-wheelbase and yes, all Phaetons were, relative to the A8, long-wheelbase.

Good I needed another 12 cylinder car

While there's a small chance that A8 is a W12, fully 3.8 percent of long-wheelbase A8s carry the 12-cylinder engine. Long-wheelbase does not a 12-cylinder make. I'm, therefore, 96.2% sure that one is an 8-cylinder model. Sorry!!

I think for the sake of judging the scavenger hunt, a clear view of the badge should be presented for some vehicles (A8L W12, 760Li, s600, etc)

In the cases of the latter vehicles it's actually quite easy to tell which version it is from all angles but the direct front, however the A8 poses a bit of a challenge in that respect. Perhaps your suggestion is a good one, but it would require lots more work, and is sometimes not possible, if a car is spotted in the other direction, for instance.

First Generation Taurus SHO, one of the only cars to ever scare me. This thing gives a whole new meaning to torque steer.
