Same Maybach 62 from yesterday. Shot of the day...

Your pick!

The Rolls Royce, any day of the week.

Although getting one's supersized executive butt in and out of the arse-end of the Maybach looks as if it might be a little easier from here.

The first one - on fussy, artistic merit, the first one is better than the second because of the overlap between the front of the 'bach and the rear of the Royce doesn't look right on the second shot.

The Maybach reminds me of something but I can't think what... a hearse maybe.

I think he was talking about the cars. Or not, because I did comment to him about a stupid Cadillac ruining a shot of two Phantoms parked very similarly to the first MayHock/Phantom picture.

But really, I don't think Doug has the most artistic eye on the planet. He likes clear, descriptive shots. When he wants a pic of a Murc he wants a pic of a Murc, not of blurry whisp of emotion.

And the Calibur is sporty...how?

Because at least it somewhat drives like a sporty, low-model Japanese V6. I'm sure the SRT-4 is sporty enough over that, and will drive even better, but there's no way I can believe a HHR to drive like a Eclipse or any other low-model Japanese sports cars just because it has SS on it.

As I recall, the LT1/LT2 HHR was capable in terms of sport, but I believe Car and Driver's critique (not to mention by most others) was that it wasn't at all involving to drive... Even with the stick and the sport suspension.

(Where have I heard that before... Toyota)

Given GMPD's track record with turning rather mundane cars into something that is quite capable and actually pushes a great amount of performance for a decent price (Cobalt SS, Grand Prix GXP, Sky Red Line all come to mind), I'd assume this HHR will perform better than expected. Could I be wrong? Certainly. The overall shape and proportions of the HHR do not lend themselves to overly sporting driving.

...But considering its going up against a Caliber with only a few more BHP and presumably a more "snappy" turbo (probably like a Volvo, ON/OFF), my guess is that the HHR would be a more "pleasant" drive. If not, at least civilized...

But, if you're looking to spend in the mid $20K range for a sporty car, you may as well just get a stripper Mustang GT and call it a day...

Personally I wouldn't take either, The Phantom or the Maybach. I don't particulary like large executive cars...

M3 CSL, but the damn thing is never parked anywhere and i only manage to see it when im driving too, this has been about the 3rd or 4th time ive seen it (pretty sure its the same one) Getting very frustrated wityh this car!!

We've been through that already - I know that he wants a picture of the car and then it's time to move on, but when he put "Shot of the day... or..." I assumed he ment the photo itself rather than the cars. But then I go to car and motorsport events and shows not to see cars, but to take pictures of cars - if I can't take a picture, it lessens the event for me. Of course, being there sans camera is better than not being there at all, but on the other hand, I pick the races I go to on how good a photo I can get, rather than what cars are racing or how good the racing will be... which is why I prefer Brands Hatch and Goodwood over Silverstone and Donington - less fences to get in the way. And they're nearer. :)

Yeah - I was already standing in the busiest street in Atlanta when taking that - decided the slight overlap was better than getting hit!

Very very true. I can be artistic when it comes to landscape photos, or scenic photos, but a car's a car. I'm not going to be able to display anything in these photos that a magazine photographer cannot do with his pick of lighting and the ability to place the car wherever he wants. Mostly, the point of these pictures is to display what an exotic looks like next to normal cars. Even I don't get to see that as often as I'd like. I think the photos typically accomplish that goal.

tonight i had a go in a M3 CSL that was stripped out!(yes there was more stuff to take out it! 90kg's worth!) 600ish bhp ultima GTR and a modified 993 turbo :D

On the way home our convey was getting stares,3 ultima gtr's, a modified Murcielago,White Audi R8,CSL,996 GT3RS and a older carrera RS :D

Does I know what I'm going to see tomorrow count? If so, I'm going for a test drive with a friend (no driving for me) in the new M3 tomorrow. I'll get pictures.

They accomplish that goal well. The pic that really comes to mind is the black Diablo, with the yellow 348 and your car together in the shot, along with other regular cars. It's like two totally different worlds.

Denied. I was on the way to the dealer when they called to say the boss had taken a day off and the M3 with him. Well, you would wouldn't you. I'm away for a few days and then will try again next week.

What the heck sort of tires are on that 340R? I've never seen a design like that before.

OK a quick one, my first E92 M3....

Nice spot!

...I actually caught a Red E30 M3 today, which is kinda ironic. I'll post later...
