Jaguar Super V8, I've seen a lot of XJ sedans but never a Super V8 one. According to internet research it's the long wheel base version of the XJ.

I guess you don't have to drive an expensive car for it it be improperly parked, if you didn't want anyone to hit your car you should have park in the back lot you idiot. Any ways I rather like the new Malibu in black.

Datsun 280Z, seen this car before but I love it since it's in pretty good condition.

In my quest to find all the AMG's here is a S55 AMG.

The topic of the thread is "photographs of interesting cars you've seen today". The rules of the thread are 1. Interesting; 2. Photos; 3. Context; 4. Unofficial. If you decide they don't apply, you may as well post up the text "helicopter muzzle artichoke yodelling" - it'll be as much use towards the topic and purpose of the thread.

Ok, so why aren't you getting on to members who just post a picture, say the name, and do nothing else?

If the people in this thread are not allowed to break the "No Dealer Rule", then people should not be allowed to break this rule just because it meets 1 of the other rules.
Give us some context. Don't just post up a pic of a car and say that you saw it. It's much more interesting if you give us some context. Where/when/what you were doing when the sighting took place, for example.

90% in this thread break this rule, and yet not one of you are criticizing them. So, how can 1 person be criticized for breaking 1 of the rules, and others be let off for breaking another?

Well walking back home from an overtime shift at work at around 9:20pm, a VXR8 drove past me and turned down a side road. Sexiest sound I have heard in a long time and I died alittle inside knowing I will never have one. :(

Do me a favour and read through my posts in this thread before you comment any further.

I have. And again, I ask why haven't you reminded folks of Rule #3 which is broken far more than #4?

You folks seem to have no problem breaking the Context Rule, yet you can not allow anyone else to break the Dealer rule. Why?

I was hanging out at home when I suddenly heard a crunchy sound. It sounded exotic and tasty. I quickly grabbed my camera and tried to scan around for this treat of a sound.

Soon enough I spotted it idling innocently in-between the crap on my desk.

I was able to shoot a few pictures before...

...somebody took it and ate it. :(

I'm not sure what kind of biscuit this was.

Also, I'm not sure what the build year was. (Although judging by the taste I'm guessing not 2007.)

You folks seem to have no problem breaking the Context Rule, yet you can not allow anyone else to break the Dealer rule. Why?

You seem to be suggesting that where one rule may be oft bypassed - and let's face it, "I saw this going down the street" can only be read a few times before it gets old - all of them should be. Is this the case? Should we just blow all of the rules away - or would we end up with the first generation of this thread (and the reason this thread was created)?

I only got involved here when someone decided to attack another member for the simple act of reminding another that there were rules printed in post #1. I chose to remind those people that there were indeed rules printed in post #1.

Your arguments - that no-one follows the rules - indicate that the thread has gone wildly off-topic and ought to be locked. Let me know if this is inaccurate in any way.

First off, saying, "I saw this going down the street" is against the rules.
Don't just post up a pic of a car and say that you saw it.
Second, just because it gets old is the reason why? That's your opinion by the way. I personally, tend to enjoy seeing a story with the picture. I'm not saying they have to go to the length Doug did with the Veyron, but at least telling us where and what you were doing makes the plain old picture more interesting.
Is this the case? Should we just blow all of the rules away - or would we end up with the first generation of this thread (and the reason this thread was created)?
Not even talking about this. I want to know why it is acceptable to break 1 rule, and be bashed for breaking another.

Your arguments - that no-one follows the rules - indicate that the thread has gone wildly off-topic and ought to be locked. Let me know if this is inaccurate in any way.
I am not saying no one is following the rules. I am saying the rule has too many loopholes in it so that it can be broken, yet no one can possibly tell without some further checking. I am also saying that taking pictures at a race track should be kept in the same standard as taking a picture at a dealer. It does not matter what the purpose of the visit was, you would still be going to a place where 1 expects nice vehicles to appear.

And I'm honestly done with this argument because you seem to be jumping around my question. Give me a straight answer.
Why is someone allowed to break Rule #3, and not Rule #4?*

*Keep in mind, as again, your previous example of "I saw this going down the street" still breaks rule #3.
"....Don't just post up a pic of a car and say that you saw it."

Some of you may remember an odd XLR photo from a few months back that had a bunch of bumper-stickers on the back. Well, I ran into it again:

Looks like its a daily-driver, given the scuffs on the front and the extremely well-worn interior. Just goes to prove how livable the Y-Body can be with a good amount of design...

Not even talking about this. I want to know why it is acceptable to break 1 rule, and be bashed for breaking another.

And where did I state this?

I've only seen one member being "bashed" so far - for daring to say that there were rules against dealership spots.

I am also saying that taking pictures at a race track should be kept in the same standard as taking a picture at a dealer.

The thread starter disagrees with you.

If this is a problem, start your own thread.

It does not matter what the purpose of the visit was, you would still be going to a place where 1 expects nice vehicles to appear.

Ruling out any occasion Doug goes to his "known-nice-car-haunts" along with it.

And I'm honestly done with this argument because you seem to be jumping around my question. Give me a straight answer.
Why is someone allowed to break Rule #3, and not Rule #4?*

Your question is irrelevant. At no point has it been stated that it's okay to break one rule but not another. Your own argument is that since one rule is seemingly broken, all of them should be breakable...

*Keep in mind, as again, your previous example of "I saw this going down the street" still breaks rule #3.
"....Don't just post up a pic of a car and say that you saw it."

My example is a whole 133% more expansive than "I saw it".

Can we get back to cars now please? Me and YSSMAN posted fine spots, talk about those or something.

And where did I state this?

I've only seen one member being "bashed" so far - for daring to say that there were rules against dealership spots.
I didn't say you did. I want to know why you're not also trying to get folks to follow the other rules as well.

The thread starter disagrees with you.

If this is a problem, start your own thread.
Apparently you didn't read the first 3 pages of this thread then as I am not the only who finds these rules ridiculously stupid. The thread title was "Did You See Anything Good Today", not, "Did You See Anything Good Today Within My Rules".

Ruling out any occasion Doug goes to his "known-nice-car-haunts" along with it.
Doug's already doing this by not posting that Rolls-Royce he keeps seeing at the Hotel as well the large amount of Continentals and Quattroportes.

Your question is irrelevant. At no point has it been stated that it's okay to break one rule but not another. Your own argument is that since one rule is seemingly broken, all of them should be breakable...
And I'm NOW asking why are you telling everyone to follow ALL the rules, yet you're saying nothing to those who break rule #3.

My example is a whole 133% more expansive than "I saw it".
And you also know it doesn't fit into what Giles was talking about.

You want to play games and dodge my question, fine. Anyone should now be allowed to post a picture of a car anywhere they see it regardless. If folks can be allowed to break the Context rule, any of us should be allowed break any of the remaining 3. However, if Famine wants to enforce the dealer rule, he should also enforce the Context rule and require everyone say something that meets Giles' example.

Can we get back to cars now please? Me and YSSMAN posted fine spots, talk about those or something.

Quite. Back on topic, I've seen many new shape XJ Jags around. Not sure if they're the same Super V8 model that you saw. All the ones that I've seen have a front bumper that resemles a shape on the E46 M3...

Super V8?
xj01zi7.jpg

Don't know, looks like one.

Upon looking up stuff about the car I found out a few interest things: a) it's $90,000 US and b) will hit 60 in 5.6 seconds. Both are quite shocking facts.

I just found a little more too. The one I saw is not a Super V8. The SV8's bumper is different, with a longer, thinner air intake. I also read that it was even quicker with a SUB 5 second 0-60! I'm gonna do me some SUper V8 Portfolio hunting now!

Is it the Super V8 or the XJR that has the silver "gills" on the side like the XK/XKR? I seem to recall that being an easy way to pick out the supercharged models...

I didn't say you did. I want to know why you're not also trying to get folks to follow the other rules as well.

Now you're being silly for the sake of it.

As I pointed out, I've only got involved because people were leaping onto one member for daring to speak up and point out that someone else was breaking a rule. People were attacking him and I posted in his defence because he was right.

Apparently you didn't read the first 3 pages of this thread then as I am not the only who finds these rules ridiculously stupid. The thread title was "Did You See Anything Good Today", not, "Did You See Anything Good Today Within My Rules".

Once again you're saying that the rules posted by Giles should all be broken.

These are the rules for the thread. You have three options. You can petition the thread starter to change the rules. You can start your own thread with your own rules. You can not post in the thread.

Whining because you think the rules are "stupid" does not fit within those options.

Doug's already doing this by not posting that Rolls-Royce he keeps seeing at the Hotel as well the large amount of Continentals and Quattroportes.

Your argument is that anywhere anyone goes with the intent of seeing nice cars there is ruled out.

And I'm NOW asking why are you telling everyone to follow ALL the rules, yet you're saying nothing to those who break rule #3.

Incorrect - I'm saying that people who insist on attacking one member for pointing out a breach of one rule should lay off because he is right.

I have said nothing to any member who has broken any rule.

Thank you for telling me how to be a moderator. I shall take this on board.

Now, in return, I shall tell you how to be a member. You will follow the rules as they have been laid out in this thread, however "stupid" you find them, or you will cease posting in this thread. Failure to do so will invite deletion of the posts in question. Any complaints can be addressed to the Administration staff.

Deletion of posts? I don't see what that matters a bit? Unless it's in an attempt to cover tracks, deletion of posts is only reserved for things such as extreme overreaction in behavior of the members. Deleting posts, I have to ask...for ****ing what?

STOP

Jesus seriously, even Famine - cut it out, this isn't the thread's purpose. Argue elsewhere - the only thing we're interesting in here is car photos. Stop.

[ON TOPIC]

Being off-topic. Which is pretty much what post deletion is reserved for.

This is my final word on this matter. Stay on-topic or don't participate. Any further enquiries can be directed to the Administrators, since I'm not good enough for you.

Now you could explain the reason, in weeks.

Failure to notice another page of discussion - so I posted this thinking I'm right after Famine's Biscuit-Spotting rules.

Could it have been the Daimler-badged version?

Maybe, I don't know enough about British sedans to say for sure. I'm sure the car is in the area since it was at a local department store. It's on my way home from work so I'll swing be there to see if it's there.

I'm asking since I've seen a Daimler Super 8 this summer in Berlin - and while regular Jagulars are special enough, this one had a distinct presence of "something different". More chrome, and you could see the passengers drowning in luxury.

The car Joey posted does have the wheels from the Jaguar Super V8 - but i guess they could be specified for lesser models too.

Oh there was a badge on the back that said Super V8...in retro spec I probably should have snag a photo of that too.
