so if i was going to the race track to see nice cars why didnt i go to the Supercar Sunday event instead of SIDC trackdays and ones run by VAG/Rover tuners, can you read my mind now?You go to a race track expecting to see nice cars just like you go to a Ferrari dealership expecting to see Ferrari's.
My definition of a sighting is something spotted in the public realm - a track day unquestionably does not count. Nor does a dealership or a closed parking lot.
It doesn't matter what event you go to. You can say you're going to catch up with friends, but the point is, you still take pictures of supercars you KNOW will show up eventually.so if i was going to the race track to see nice cars why didnt i go to the Supercar Sunday event instead of SIDC trackdays and ones run by VAG/Rover tuners, can you read my mind now?
i dont go to see nice cars i go because i want to catch up and have a chat with people i know or have a similar interest in the cars, how they perform etc, hell i spent 4 hrs on saturday in an evo 5 and an evo 7,hardly would some people would class as "nice cars".
His sightings are actually out on the street though, a place people don't go expecting to see fine automobiles. People who go to a race track do however. Monaco is the same way. 99% of the people who go there do not go there expecting to see exotics. They go there to spend vacation or gamble. The only reason there's so many exotics is because all the citizens have million dollar incomes.would that mean if someone was going to monoco they couldnt claim them as spots as you would expect to see "nice cars" same with dougs valet spots,he goes there cause he knows the cars will be there more than what i know whats gonna turn up at knockhill, therefore his dont count then?
agreed, however I don't mind seeing any of the above posted here as long as the photographer acknowledges where it's been taken, as far as what qualifies as a good spot, that's really a matter of opinion and one man's tr... well you know the saying.

And please, do not give us that, "I don't know what to expect at Knockhill." From what you've posted, it's very obvious anyone can expect a nice vehicle to show up, esp. as you like to tell us about you riding shotgun in various sports cars like the GT3 RS in debates.
That's essentially the same as standing outside a car show for when the cars leave. So no.if i was to stand outside the access road to knockhill and took pictures of the cars arriving would that class as a "true" spot?
Rules are rules maybe? That's essentially the same as standing outside a car show for when the cars leave. So no.
So how about this theory: If someone finds a nice car, and they take a picture of it, why not post it in this thread. Who cares where they saw it?
And why does it matter?
Saying the rules need to be enforced simply opens yourself up for supposed rule violations. Why does it matter, anyways? Are we competing for photos? Because if we are, why is there a Scavenger Hunt thread?
So, once again, who cares? Naturally a spot on a street is cooler than a spot in a dealer, but if the car was worth taking a photo of than who cares?
*McLaren* quite clearly explained that the logic with which you defend the rules is just as easily turned against you. Do I need to point it out to you? You know, taking pictures of privately owned vehicles where you know where they will be.holdenhsvgtrhow does it open myself up to rule violations?
please do as my pictures have been within the rules of the thread.*McLaren* quite clearly explained that the logic with which you defend the rules is just as easily turned against you. Do I need to point it out to you?
these people seem to
So, I ask once again: Who cares, and why does it matter?
Dude. Dealer photos are not considered a 'spot' in this thread unless the car is insanely rare. However your spots are getting better (as in faster and rarer cars), so keep trying![]()
Yeah, enough with the dealer pics. lol
Yeah, you have a good point there. If this thread is about the dealer thread, then there would be no fun in taking photo of cars anymore. The one Doug did with the Bugatti Veyron and the Maserati MC12 was just plain awesome!👍 It keeps everyone inspired to take more shots like those. If i was just taking photos of dealer cars, you wouldn't be surprised if i had photos of Lamborghinis, Porsches, Ferraris, Maseratis, etc.
You don't get why the rules of the thread were laid out, which is your problem. You know, taking pictures of privately owned vehicles where you know where they will be. Yeah, that applies just as much (if not more) to a track meet as it does to dealer parking lots. One could argue that most of Doug's photos are disallowed based on that same logic, and pretty much all of ChaserTRD's photos.please do as my pictures have been within the rules of the thread.
To which I have *McLaren*, Serge.D (who, by the way, posted pictures of privately owned vehicles that only happened to be in dealer lots), YSSMAN, and me who don't care. And you still haven't explained why you think it matters.these people seem to
Seriously? Which one? There are a bunch of second gen (and a single first gen) ones that are within a few miles of where I live. I wasn't aware they were seriously rare.YSSMANIf anyone finds an Isuzu Impulse, let me know. I've maybe seen one once in my life, and I'd love to see one again!
I was thinking we may want start archiving the pictures in this thread sooner or later.
I don't know what it is about the Karmann Ghia, but I really really want one.
Alpina probably deserves a reward for curing their 7-series of the Banglebutt disease.
It's just the facelifted 7-series with a rear spoiler - Alpina did very little to the rear end. What really makes it good is the ten-zillion spoke wheels - they compliment the car quite well (so well, in fact, that BMW now offers similar wheels, and my false B7 sightings have increased infinitely).
1) Serge is not the only who's done that. How about the fellow who was posting pictures of that SLR & Maybach and was working for some company?
And 2) You have absolutely NO right to say anything as we see you constantly posting pictures from the race track in here.
.
My new definition is in public only. But as stated above, even though I don't consider your photos true "sightings," they are much appreciated as always.👍
And why does it matter?

Except for when there's an unofficial car rally occurring, right?
I don't recall the last time there was a car over £50,000 when new shot for the Scavenger Hunt thread (I think Joey has a CLS this week but aside from that, nada). Our categories are somewhat broader - and the fun is to see how inventive people can be.
Personally, I find dealer spots boring - no matter what the car is.
The thread only has two rules. No dealers/dealer-sponsored events and take some photos. Can't be so hard, surely?
