Final word on eligibility:

Entries in this thread need to be interesting. This is a subjective, relative thing, and in some instances it does permit the "rules" in post #1 to be broken. If, for example, you see a V10 Audi R8 in a dealer within an hour of the thing being launched, that is interesting, and can be posted. If you live in Bumsville Idaho, where the average value of a car is $2.50, then seeing a Rolls Royce Phantom at all is interesting, it matters not where.

But for some of us, who live in major cities, the criteria is harder. For example, I could (if I could be arsed) go out and take a shot of a frost-covered Gallardo that's 200m from my house, because I think it's interesting that the owner of a £300,000 flat leaves his £130,000 car parked outside in temperatures as low as -10C.

I'll say it again: INTERESTING is the key word.

Ergo: 50 Murcielagos at Knockhill at a meeting of the Lamborghini Owner's Club < 1x Murcielago left parked outside a McDonalds.

And think more of what will be interesting to others than which is interesting to you.

On an administrative note, this is the second time I've tried to drag this thread back to being something worthwhile. Something where each & every post should make the reader say "That's cool" or "Wow, what a spot". Next time, I won't bother.

This is exactly what I meant when I was referring to Serge living a place where he may not see nice cars like some of us do all the time. Thank you.

Ford ka cabrio /roadster I live in the street where that motorhome is parked.

On the right of the picture you see my oldest sister.

Porsche Boxster.

Chrysler 300C.

Porsche Carrera.

My first photo of a Chrysler Sebring cabrio and only the scond time that I saw one.

Jaguar S Type.

My best spot of the day,my first AMG Mercedes.

My first Dodge Caliber.

Now you're being silly for the sake of it.

As I pointed out, I've only got involved because people were leaping onto one member for daring to speak up and point out that someone else was breaking a rule. People were attacking him and I posted in his defence because he was right.

Once again you're saying that the rules posted by Giles should all be broken.

These are the rules for the thread. You have three options. You can petition the thread starter to change the rules. You can start your own thread with your own rules. You can not post in the thread.

Whining because you think the rules are "stupid" does not fit within those options.

Your argument is that anywhere anyone goes with the intent of seeing nice cars there is ruled out.

Incorrect - I'm saying that people who insist on attacking one member for pointing out a breach of one rule should lay off because he is right.

I have said nothing to any member who has broken any rule.

Thank you for telling me how to be a moderator. I shall take this on board.

Now, in return, I shall tell you how to be a member. You will follow the rules as they have been laid out in this thread, however "stupid" you find them, or you will cease posting in this thread. Failure to do so will invite deletion of the posts in question. Any complaints can be addressed to the Administration staff.

I support this position 100%. Famine's interpretation is correct. McLaren, it's time to drop the subject and move on.

Going to a dealer is the photographic equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel. Failing to state context may simply mean someone is in a hurry (or the context is simply too dull to be worth mentioning). In any case, it doesn't carry nearly the same weight as going to a dealer does in terms of reducing the "sportsmanship" of this thread.

No it's time for everyone to drop it and just talk about cars.

And Serge, I didn't think they sold Calibers and Sebring's in Europe. They are both terrible vehicles, I don't understand why anyone would buy them in the Euro market, but I guess they don't if they are rare.

They sell Calibers here. Sebrings I'm not so sure of - though I'd err on the side of negative.

In Italy, Caliber is on the market since about one year. Just one seen so far. in red. I don't like it so much but here it is probably considered "exotic" and someone may like it for that. And the Dodge brand here makes many people think to Viper....

Sebring in Italy too, with different name (that i can't remember). A friend of mine owned one, but no other seen on the road.

Imo, There's a huge list of better cars before them both

I think the latest model Sebring is sold here in the UK, righthand drive versions are available on the UK Autotrader site. Some first generation Sebrings are also for sale on Autotrader, but these are all LHD and probably imported by Brits who had them as hire cars in Florida and liked them - not realising that British weather and roads would not suit the Sebring in the slightest.

Chryslers have been made in Austria for some time. Maybe they produced LHD Sebrings for the rest of Europe. I do remember seing a few on my various journeys through Europe.

Nice plates on that S-Type, KG.666. :)

That's why I took the photo.;)
I wanted to take a photo of the license plate, but the driver whas in the car.

No I don't think he looks like a 65 year old woman.:D
She just came from the hair-dresser.
Maybe it whas the Devil disguised as a woman.;)

I didn't know they made a hardtop for the 911 convertibles, at least that's what it looks like in that picture

Yes, there is a factory hardtop for at least the 993 and 996 (which is pictured there). I haven't seen one yet on the 997, but I bet they have them.

My spots today:

db9-113007.jpg

There's an Aston-Martin DB9 somewhere in there. Sorry, but I just can't be bothered for a better shot.

viper_srt10-113007.jpg

A Viper SRT-10 I've seen a few times before.

quattroporte_sport_gt-113007.jpg

I've seen this Quattroporte Sport GT a few times before, too.

phantom-113007.jpg

Texas plates.

continental_gts-113007.jpg

This shot illustrates just how laughably common the Bentley Continental GT has become. For the record these vehicles are NOT driving together and this is pure coincidence.

Cruising along and came upon a strip mall parking lot; this was parked at the very back of the lot:

murcielago_lp640-113007-8.jpg

LP640. Note my beautiful A4 in the back.

The driver (not the owner) came up and was all smiles - I told him "nice car" and he smiled and said "thanks." Maybe all Lamborghini people aren't coke dealers after all. Then again, as stated, he wasn't the owner - so maybe they are. Anyway, got some good shots as he left the parking lot:

Some illegal maneuvers got me a fantastic final shot:

This is a beautiful car. I often forget how menacing the Murcielago really is. It's been a couple of months since I've seen one, and when I see it amongst actual cars it's like a complete rebirth in my mind of everything the Murcielago is. It's so ridiculously sinister... still no Diablo, but close. The noise is as good as any.

Doug, I'm pretty sure those bentley's are GT SPEEDs (or at least one)

Neither is a Continental GT Speed. The front one just has a bodykit and some wheels. The back one is dead stock. Trust me, I will make a big deal out of my first Continental GT Speed sighting.

Doug, the rims on that Murcielago are horrendous!

QFT

Good shots though Doug, esp the last one. And I agree, the Murcielago is just awesome. It's clearly not the best car out there, but when I see one, it just takes my breath away, in a way that a Ferrari F599 (for example) doesn't get anywhere near.

They're stock wheels painted to match the car. I actually liked them!

Thanks, Giles! I agree - the Murcielago may not be the dynamic treat the 599 GTB is, but it's definitely more of a head-turner... which sort of sums up much of the difference between both Ferrari and Lamborghini and Ferrari and Lamborghini owners.

A small collection from the last few days:

Spotted at ridiculous'o'clock in the morning on the M11 Southbound:

f3htwofer2qi5.jpg

One unmolested MkIV Supra and one quite pleasant elderly Mercedes cabriolet. Sadly, I'm not an expert on old Mercs and the slightly-smeary passenger side of my windscreen obscures the rear plate, so I can't check it.

However, I'm told it's a Pagoda roof Mercedes W113 230SL.

Same journey, same Supra wing...

f3hbarrywingpv2.jpg

Epic. Fail.

Things got odder at the petrol station:

f3hcitroenagogolx5.jpg

Rrrrrrright.

Hell yes! I love MKI Capri's very nice spot, they seem to be getting rarer and rarer, ive only seen 1 and that was at a car show too!

I caught a yellow 1973/4 one on the road the other week. I'll have to see if I can dig the photos out...

An opportune spot, waiting for the lights to change:

And, last but not least, an Aston Martin DB7 Vantage V12. At Tesco...

As you can see, this thing was parked 8 miles from the store, in the middle of nowhere. Under, amusingly, a sign stating "Tesco: Helping you to spend less every day"...

Doug, how indeed do you know the driver of the yellow murcie isnt in fact the owner? Been stalking a little too often again ;)

Famine, Thank you much! From the back i could have sworn it was an RS2600, still could be, though im not sure if all of them had a black bonnet.

Edit: hmmm most interesting, the status check confirms something but im not sure what!

Make: FORD
Year of manufacture: 1974
Model: CAPRI 1600 GT
Engine size(CC): 2000

A 1600 GT with a 2.0L engine huh?

People drive interesting cars while its puking snow... In just 15 minutes before my shift, I spotted a Continental GT, S2000, new M Coupe, 2 mk3 Miatas, Boxster S and 996 Turbo. This was all while there was plenty of white stuff accumulating on the road.

This is not to mentioned the variety of winter beaters that trugged along; S-Type R, RS4, E55, Maybach 57 etc etc
