ouch, all that bodywork plus the axle is buggered, I wouldn't even wanna guess (seeing as how a respray for a Carrera GT was something like £6k.)

Holy cow - one of the best sightings in this thread. Very cool. By the looks of it, actually, I'd guess that what happened there was he got rear-ended and pushed into the car in front. What do you guys think?

My Friday afternoon sightings:

And yes, it's a W12:

I've now seen two W12 Phaetons - I estimate that to be about 1.14% of the production run for the US. Quite cool

You can't see it very well in the pics, but there was quite a bit of dirt on the body panels. I'm thinking he got over-enthusiastic in a turn, started to lose the rear end, skidded off, tagged a wall (or something) with the left rear corner, then snapped around and hit it again with the left front corner before coming to a stop.

I shot the pics at about 60 MPH on the San Diego Freeway, steering with my left hand and snapping with my right. I saw the Carrera as I came up behind the truck, and tore the camera out of the glove compartment!

(This is the second wrecked supercar I've seen. Years ago I came upon a black Diablo that the driver had managed to get crossed-up on a street when he gassed it. He skidded sideways into a new Jag sedan coming the other way! Both drivers were taken off in ambulances. The Diablo was probably totalled.)

The rims are quite dirty and has clearly snagged something (rim damage) aswell as broken the rear suspension and/or driveshaft it seems, so I think loss of control and the events after (how ever he ended up) would be what happened.

The car is low long and wide so its easy for the for the front and rear bumpers to snag on something (even the dirt depending what happened) and they are designed to come off pretty easily, to me it doesn't look like he hit anything in the front or back (of what I can see) too hard.

Fair, fair. One thing I will mention about the Carrera GT is that in all the wreck shots (and there are a lot), the rims are ALWAYS bent, and usually quite horribly - makes me think they're not quite made from the strongest materials out there.

My take tonight was meager:

July 14, 2006 - Denver, Colo.

I have to admit, I haven't been seeing the really quality cars since seeing the Murcielago about a week ago. The nicest cars I've seen since then were the F430 Spider and the Azure Mulliner, both of which I had already seen. I'm a bit discouraged with my findings so far this summer, to be honest.

The Viper picture is a weird one. After taking it I assumed it to be the same one I had seen about two weeks ago in Breckenridge, a small town about two hours from Denver. It turns out it's not - despite the similarities: both are SRT-10 convertibles with Oklahoma plates and the number 888 on those plates. What a weird coincidence...

Another abysmal day of car spotting, though admittedly I passed up photographing an SL65 and about a dozen 911s on the grounds that I'm sick of seeing expensive but not exotic cars. Basically, if it ain't a GT2, GT3, or Turbo Cab, forget it.

And even when I do manage a good sighting, it's a replica:

Admittedly, had that one been real, I'd be calling up the newspapers now, not making a thread on GTP. The owner told me it was riding on a Suburban frame with a 5.7-liter GM V8 underhood, though I didn't ask him which one.

When I go to school theres this car place which has 2 360 Modenas, a Porsche GT3, 2 Boxters, a Mercesdes SL55 and a few others in there, pretty nice cars, pretty big price tags.

So what's that a replica of?

Sorry, I'm not one with a lot of classic car knowledge.

Ah you're forgiven - had no idea what it was myself, to be honest. I wouldn't have chased it except a friend riding with me told me it was something to get excited about. I did a U-turn and caught up.

It's a replica of a 1935 Auburn Boattail Speedster. Searching on Google, I'd have to say that replicas are more common than I thought - for real ones, you can start the bidding at around $500k and go from there. The owner also told me it's been his favorite car since he was a kid and this was the only way he could get his hands on one. No surprise - I can't find any figures, but I don't think more than 100 exist.

Got an awesome one hanging out up in the mountains this morning!

I was up at Newcomb's Ranch restaurant on Highway 2 near LA, and saw quite a few cool cars. Z8, Boxter, a nicely modded 2nd gen MR2, a modded Evo, S4, and S2000, and an entire train (about 20 cars) of modded Proteges, must have been a meet & drive.

Best of all, however.... a bright yellow Murcielago! Absolutely beautiful car, owned by the owner of Axis wheels... and better yet, I got to sit in the driver's seat!

There was also a beautiful 280Z (nearly-mint), and two beautiful, modded/upgraded, SAAB Sonnets. (A car I didn't even know existed, they're really cool!)

i was up th seafront for a little while earlier and saw a few nice-ish ones;

Jza80 supra
Evo 3, 4 and 5(x2)
and the first time ive seen a hayabusa (GSX-R 1300)

Busas are awesome bikes.

I forgot to mention that the place I saw the cars was also flooded with sportbikes!

Saw just about anything imaginable, including a couple Ducatis and Triumphs, and even a Moto Guzzi, which I've never seen outside of magazines before!

A couple race bikes, too, but I didn't take too close of a look at them.

A quiet Sunday out on the town. Ooh, I love Hong Kong!

R34 wheels on the R33 look luurvely, but that GT3 takes the cake!

R33 V-Spec something-or-other in red
Entry level Cayenne (like, who buys them?)

Yeah, the Korean vans sold here got a huge engine upgrade from some sub-200hp 3.5-liter last year to a 242hp 3.8-liter DOHC V6 for '07 which propels them to 60 quite a bit quicker than the piss known as the base Cayenne. Fortunately the base Cayenne is barely selling - in fact, I see more Turbos than I do base models. Of course, the Turbo was on sale notably longer, but still, that's a good thing.

I have only seen that one Cayenne that wasn't a Turbo S.

More relatives over, henceforth a Mini Cooper S Convertable and a Ducati 999R.
For comparison, I've also included a picture of my cat.
