Now that's cool.

Also, Doug, the dude that drove that thing all the way from Florida must have huge balls. Or lots of antiperspirant.

About one-fifth of the exotics I see here have Florida plates. Lots of money in Florida is coming to rapidly-developing Atlanta.

Dad's mate just had a quattorporte sport GT, he's going in it on friday so ill see if He can get a pic or two for me :D

Saw an old E24 M6, on a side street down here in Savannah, GA. Didn't have time to take a picture, so I am using the Wikipedia image :P

Out getting the groceries and this was in the carpark. That same carpark that yielded the SRT-8 a few weeks back, and the same carpark I pulled out of to see the S8 go by on another occasion.

These shots were taken a couple of weeks back, just hadn't got around to posting them.

Love the plate! :D

And what percentage is all in that same hotel valet lot?

Since returning to Atlanta, I've spotted 38 exotic cars, five of which were at "that same hotel valet lot" which is actually a mall valet. That's less than fifteen percent. Furthermore, only fourteen of 38 were at any valet, meaning under 37 percent. That means I see more than 60 percent of my cars either on the road or off-street, parked amongst normal cars.

This takes considerable effort, time, and cost on my part, and to say that I see all my vehicles at one particular spot both devalues what I do and demonstrates your lack of knowledge. In short, be quiet.

I think it's like with a Range Rover, when you drive over 50 km/h the suspension drops again.

Nope. Top Gear magazine once ran a feature about driving the Murcielago through the Alps, using its 4WD and the ride height lift to negotiate snowy roads.

In short, calm down.

No need for this smug reply exige. You may or you may not have noticed this thread (and forum) has been greatly enriched by M5Power's car sightings. He is in the process of single handedly providing GTPlanet with an extensive database of supercar sightings. Are you sure you want to discredit that?

I don't believe I'm discrediting anything. The fact that in the month of January, 40% of his cars have been valet'd doesn't impress me. Is this wrong? Can he be then allowed to cry about it and then proceed to call me stupid and tell me to shut up?

How is he allowed saying this and then I get it for telling him too calm down?

You shouldn't be getting on Doug, you should be getting on the owners of these cars. They buy them to look pretty. They're not called prettycars. Not only are valeted cars parked safely, but they're also parked where everyone who can't afford it can see its glistening paint.

These arent particularly recent sightings, but with no big cities real close to me (northwestern North Carolina), they're really few and far between (and I dont carry a camera around). But here are a few:

Ferrari2.jpg

Even got to sit in this 360 Modena. Also saw an old, extremely rare GTB/4 and an F40 there.

About 30 minutes from my house, I have seen a black Aston Martin Vanquish two seperate times (same car). Beautiful car to see in real life.

I have also seen a Jaguar E-type, and countless muscle cars (driven one and ridden in lots...Fairlanes, Chevelles, etc).

The most recent sighting I had was a couple of weeks ago, I saw a Cadillac XLR. I floored it and caught up to it, and cruised next to it for about a 1/2 mile. A souped up VW Golf GTI was cruising next to it on the other side haha. Very cool sighting.

The fact that in the month of January, 40% of his cars have been valet'd doesn't impress me. Is this wrong?

That's not accurate. In Atlanta, 37% of the thirty-eight cars I've seen have been valeted. In the month of January, I've had fifty exotic car sightings, just sixteen of which have been at valets, for a total of 32%.

Now, your point seems to be that just because I see the cars in the valet stands, they're not "impressive" spots. There are two huge inaccuracies with this:

First, about 70% of the time I visit these valet stands there are NO cars worth photographing. It's only through repeated visits at considerable effort that I can get the photos which I do - it's not a free-for-all, and don't think that it is.

Second, as mentioned, of the fourteen Atlanta valet sightings, only five were at the spot we're discussing. That means I have to constantly check on a number of valets, the furthest of which are ten minutes apart. That, too, takes considerable effort.

Believe me, exigeracer, your point is something I've considered before, and I take much more pleasure in seeing vehicles on the road than at valets. Also, cars I see on the road are typically better than at valets. But I'm certainly not going to skip the valet stands as they do sometimes provide good cars, and I'm certain you wouldn't want to lose the photos!

Can he be then allowed to cry about it and then proceed to call me stupid and tell me to shut up?

No one's crying about anything, I didn't call you stupid, and I certainly didn't tell you to shut up. I would hope that you calm down yourself, see the error of your argument after this post, and kindly keep future remarks like this to yourself, preferring instead to simply enjoy the photos.

Here's a sampling of what you'd miss if I skipped the valets:

I've been to the exact valets Doug has been to. Multiple times. Best thing I've ever seen was a Murcielago. Once.

Exige, Doug's spots are harder to come by than you think. Folks don't drive Diablo Roadsters everyday. If the rep system were in use today, you'd be neg repped for stupidism.

I simply love how every week or so somebody starts bitching (at Serge, Holdenhsvgtr or Doug) that the spots are somehow a waste of everyones' time, as if they are some kind of supreme commander of car photography.
Exige, we have people who sit in their apartment and simply snap photos of cars that drive by. Do we yell at them? No, because they still Saw Something Good Today, which is the point of this thread.
Maybe Doug goes out of his way to spot photos, but I fail to see what difference that makes. Is a photo somehow better if a person puts no effort into finding the cars they are taking pictures of? Of course not. The only difference that really exists between the two is that one spot has more of a story behind it, and that only matters if you care.

You did. You just worded it differently.

He'd be neg-repped because of his opinion? I'm glad the system is gone if that's how folks are intending to use it.

Except that logic doesn't fly here. Otherwise, dealers & shows would easily count as they require no effort.

It appears the system didn't save this, but I'll agree to a point that maybe 1 of the valet's Doug's visit could be considered a no-effort spot. However, I don't think it's right to make it seem that Doug alone makes this thread worthy of being read. Plenty of other folks have been doing their share.

Um, they're not actually supposed to. It's a common & unwritten rule between most Ferrari & Lamborghini owners that you do not let someone valet your car. There are far too many stories & problems that come from them.

If you need an example, I'll do a search on FChat. There's plenty.

I would imagine this thread is on a track that ends with closure if these stupid/pointless arguments can't stop popping up every couple pages

One of the few Ferarris I would spend money on. The 599 GTB is my favorite Ferarri for sure. 👍 It looks gorgeous in that color too.
