The killer shot is that in order to accomodate the longitudinal V8 in the originally transverse engine bay, the body is extended ahead of the rear wheelarch.
Arguably, the 308 is better proportioned in profile than the 288 it sired.
However, should the proverbial fortune land in my lap, a 288GTO would be very, very high on the list of cars to purchase and experience.

Man, the Gran Turismo is totally thrown off in red. It is far better in colder-biased colours. The red doesn't suit the design personality at all, it completely changes from all angles.

I saw a red Gran Turismo at the dealership yesterday and it is quite odd. I still prefer the car in black.
And this was the only thing I was able to get yesterday. It's a BMW M5 which is even rarer then the M3 around these parts. I can't even recall seeing one of these in recent memory.

I haven't posted here is a while seeing that there isn't really anything worth posting off campus in Holland or in Seattle during the middle of winter.
Anyway, here is my week in review. No pics because I wasn't fast enough with my cell camera or just didn't bother to take a pic of a car crossing an intersection or going the other direction on the freeway.
I saw a Clubman S on the viaduct, a white Nismo Z up in downtown, a red Nismo Z three times near my house, a bunch of AMG Benzes including a CLS and S class, several M3s, probably about 10 GTIs/GLIs and then all those rare cars at my friend's collection (including a Ford GT, RS200, F430, original Cobra, Shelby GT500, Dinan M3, two old SLs, loads of Corvettes and other things I don't remember). I'll have to sneak back in there sometime with a digital camera.
Oh, and his friend took us for a ride in that Dinan M3. What a machine
!

Phantom - look at that!! It basically comes up to the roofline on that 96-02 4Runner (the red one - which admittedly is a 2WD but still). Look how it compares to the other SUVs!!

Those of you who don't see Phantoms too often, I think, do not understand how big the car is. The base of my window comes up to his wheel arch, and my line of sight barely makes it into his vehicle. The things are boats and maneuvering them (this is a Starbucks parking lot) is hard.
