Great spots harry - the Bentley you've labelled a Continental T is actually an Arnage.

The E63 wagon is by far my favorite your spots (after the Carrera GT, which is the obligatory first pick). Of course it is also RARER than the CGT by about tenfold.

Ah, I always get my Bentley's confused. The Carrera GT didn't get me so much as it was just part of a stable of fantastic cars. Although he could just be a member of some supercar-renting club. I didn't think they were that popular in the US. Heck, I don't even know of any here.

The Awful?

Lol. Silly yanks.

What, like San Francisco? All the side streets in Brooklyn? :sly:

Sage are you kidding? I know you're from population seven, but don't you go to school in a big city now?
“Public transportation” in southern California is another way of saying “ladder to the moon”.

BTW, I knew that it was some kind of tram system – I was looking for a name, because I like to Google/Wiki the various kinds of tram systems around the world (I have a minor obsession with trolleybuses, and this feeds into that – although I’ve never quite figured out the advantage of trams over trolleybuses).

BTW II, I think because of the amount of Gallardos you post in this thread, I had a dream last night that one of my friends ran in front of one. It was red though, which I’ve never seen here nor IRL.

In that case, the TTC - Toronto Transit Comision - has the "street car," electric powered, rail-driven tram lines all over the city. City busses are rare in the downtown core.

Thanks for the kind words on the last set.

OK... not a car, but it is a vehicle...

So we were enjoying a picnic on Pigeon Island along Rodney Bay in St. Lucia and off in the distance I saw a strange looking schooner coming into the bay and then anchoring off the coast:

So I zoomed in and sure enough...

It's the actual "Black Pearl" from the recent Pirates of the Caribbean films. 👍

Cool boat shot!!!

I've got a long-time interest in boat design (although not as intense as my automotive attraction) but have never been in any part of the world where I could see any yacht over 80 feet. I'd love to board a megayacht and see the inner workings of one, and the design and thought process involved in making a multi-million dollar vessel. One day...

Ecellent DB shots as well. I know that someone around here drives a DB4, but I have never had the chance to photograph her. I can't wait until the next time I'm out and the fellow's out for a drive in that machine.

They build them in a factory across town, down by the port.

http://www.fitzroyyachts.com/

I bike passed there all the time, and love it on hot days when they have the doors of the 'hangar' open and I can see inside.

Those things are huge!

Small world! The Gallardo was pretty competitive to say it's pretty much standard. The other one was full race spec just about.

actually the full "race spec" gallardo is pretty much the same as the road car engine wise and a quite a number of other parts. The guy with the gallardo is running an event on wednesday night that a certain evo might be coming out for a play in,but doubtful since its so close to UKTA round 3.
As for the caravan comment, is that a rhetorical question? Or do you know someone with a dreadnought hitched up to an XJR? It wasn't actually towing a caravan, I just thought it a travesty :P
nah i just know who dreadnought are

have seen an M5 used as a tow car though

What I saw today while I was on the highway:
Lamborghini Gallardo (in yellow)
Aston Martin V8 Vantage (with Singaporean plates)
Some sportbikes passing by....

as always, I don't have a freaking camera! :( Yeah, hopefully thats all gonna change soon....

Um....er...not even close, but nice try.
Doh... you're right. Odd, I asked about it when we were back on board our boat, and they said that it was the Black Pearl... but clearly not the same one! My bad.

Speaking of seeing things that are "good", and your love for MotoGP, did you watch yesterday's French GP at Le Mans? With 23 laps remaining, the coverage on SPEEDtv showed some remarkable footage from the camera on the back of Pedrosa's bike showing Valentino Rossi's bike, who was right on his heels, at unbelievably low angles of attack! It was a great example of why the good doctor needs elbow pads. :D

That was possibly the most exciting GP race I've seen in quite some time, and a brilliant drive by Rossi, especially in those changing conditions. 👍

The result of which is we have practically a three way tie now for the championship lead.

Any way, anyone who caught that footage from the race definitely saw something "good".

Went to the bank and on the way home I ran into a GT. I've always liked these cars, but now I've shot one of them for a couple minutes, you pick up on certain lines that make the car much more attractive when you're aware of them. I love these things!

As far as the photography, I'm not too satisfied because of the flat light. I had to pull up the temperature to pretty hot levels to get any colour interest in the pictures. Then again, I'm happy with the sharpness I'm getting lately.

I've had a couple people tell me to make a thread about car photography in general. I know there's a Sexy and Mean thread, but this would specifically showcase the way the car was captured, regardless of the subject. I could throw together a bunch of Lotus pictures and other shots I've found here and there, including my own and other GTP photogs. Would you guys be interested in contributing to such a thread with your pwn finds or own snaps?

Seriously good work Ansis! I still vastly prefer the GT40, but it's still an awesome machine.

Just saw this:

thunderbird-051908.jpg

I personally find it boring but on this board there's an above average appreciation of these old American cars so I thought I'd show it... very nice shape!

Would you guys be interested in contributing to such a thread with your pwn finds or own snaps?

No, but I'd be very interested to see yours - your shots are always phenomenal!

BTW - doesn't that GT have a very old license plate? Mid-80s? He must've had something exotic before it!

Trams are just cooler. A train in the middle of a road is far better than a bus with big weird extensions on top.. Plus, in many European cities, tram-lines existed for a century... Though in west Berlin, they didn't bother with rebuilding them after the war - quite a noticeable difference between the west and east side, where tram-lines are used as an alternative to the regular bus.

It's actually quite dull, design-wise, compared to some more modern shorter vessels, or catamarans. It's probably like a Maybach line compared to a Lotus facility. :P

The mega-catamarans built for The Race are a personal obsession of mine: Gargantuan 100 foot long catamarans at 40-odd knots - around the world in 62 days. As high-tech as it got back in the day, these things were still far too big for their own good - Steve Fosset's Playstation and the Team Philips catamarans didn't make it. Perhaps now, CFD design and Carbon Fibre are advanced enough...

Thanks. I'm getting a bicycle so getting around town will be easier, so hopefully that'll mean more photos.

That style of Ontario tags lasted until 1997, so it could be any time before that.

BTW II, I think because of the amount of Gallardos you post in this thread, I had a dream last night that one of my friends ran in front of one. It was red though, which I’ve never seen here nor IRL.

By now I have a Gallardo rainbow... including seven red ones:

Admittedly all of those except the second-to-last Spyder and the coupe are more maroon, but I called them "dark red" in my gigantic car spotting file.

Did he get hit by it? :D

Yes, basically. Sounds like a good idea 👍

Indeed, I work for a car magazine and have several photoshoots I plan on posting later (maybe in their own thread, but a link would be there) that include several riced up cars (mag is a ricer mag, sorry), as well as several event coverages that would fit in nicely. Not a lot of cars-in-the-street shots because over here it isnt normal to see a guy taking pictures of your car, people think you want to steal it, that's why my shots in the street are so standard, because they are always very, VERY rushed.

But yes, besides another photo thread is never a bad thing.

exigeracer, isn't there a thread titled 'Your own favorite car photos that you took' or something already?

Nice GT shots.

Jebus! That’s probably how many Gallardos I’ve seen, period. I just noticed that some of them have side badges, which must be an expensive option.

Did he get hit by it? :D
 She, and no. Otherwise I would’ve said “I dreamed that my friend got run over by a Gallardo”, which sounds so much cooler.

today, on my drive from work
a honda accord coupe modified to look like an R34 skyline GTR. it looked convincing as i drove up behind it, but something in the c pillar was off a little. but i knew as soon as i realised it was left hand drive, that it wasnt the real deal.

an E46 3 series modified to look like an M3CSL. b but whoever owned it didnt go through with it completely. wheels were way too small, ride height too high, etc.

within yards of each other.

Either that or it's owner added... everyone wants to copy Ferrari... I saw a fender shield on a Porsche 911 today. Ugh!

The G is the most common supercar, for me. Seen 31 different coupes, 1 Nera, 1 SE, 18 Spyders, and 2 Superleggeras, for a total of 53 different Gallardos. And I've seen these 53 Gallardos a total of 88 times! Yet every time I see one I still go nuts. The same cannot be said of the F430... photographing those (despite "only" 41 sightings) has become a chore. And I'm a sworn Ferrari guy! Says something about the visual impact between the two.

opendriver19a
Dodge Raider, never heard of one or seen it.

EDIT: It was only made from 1986-1990

Good spot!!! I saw one yesterday and considered photographing it but I figured no one would appreciate it. Not sure where you got '86-'90 but they were actually only sold '87-'89 making them really uncommon. They were only sold on the three-door version of the -'91 Montero (which also had a 5-door version). This is back when Chrysler and Mitsu shared a lot of cars and had a LOT of unfortunate products... like the Starion which was a Plymouth, Chrysler, and a Dodge at various points during the '80s (and called Conquest each time).

Rather than your own thread to showcase your cars (which would be OK if you wanted to), I'd prefer a thread where you talked about how you shot the cars. I think you take some of the best shots in this thread. 👍 Both in composition and in 'after-effects'. And, as is the nature of these shots, there isn't a lot of time to set up like on a static or purpose car shot.

So I'd be more interested in the settings your using, what you're thinking about, stuff like that. So that I and others can improve our own shooting towards your level.

More of a tutorial thing. :)
