I was sitting at a stoplight, and thought I was seeing things for a second when i swear i saw a bright blue SMART roll over the rail crossing. i thought NAH, but mabey 45 minutes later heading to my work pickup, a black one, with lights on, blew past me in the other direction. HUH? i thought they weren't legal in the US yet? (the blue actually had a PA plate on it)

been legal for a while, Ive ridden in a couple...

I have to post more often. If this forum were printed, this post alone would consume half a tree.

Toyota Supra

I took the photo thinking it was a turbo, but obviously it wasn't. Still haven't seen a genuine Supra Turbo in a long time.

Volkswagen Corrado

Just read about this in Car and realized I never noticed the pop-up spoiler. Neat!

Mazda RX-7 Convertible

Old-school rotary...with the top down.

Subaru Impreza WRX STi 2009

First I've seen on the road. I'm still trying to find time to test drive this for myself. It's only right to follow up my review of the WRX sedan. And I kind of want to see what the big deal is. I'm still expecting it to pale compared to my 2005, but considering the dearth of turbo Impreza's on the road (and the lone STi still sitting at the dealer), I guess I still have time.

Packard 160

I might have seen this one before, especially considering it's in the same place I've seen Packards before, but I couldn't resist taking the photo. It's so picturesque.

Ford Model T

Is it actually a Model T? Looked like one; a later, 20's model or something.

Bentley Continental T

Funny how Hyundai copied this design, but is still the polar opposite of the Bentley image.

Ferrari 355 Spider

Soon to acquire classic status, I'm sure.

Hummer **

Not sure of the model, or the spec, but that snorkel intake caught my attention...if not a better photo opportunity. I shouldn't be so hasty, yes?

Honda Z Act

The owner of this also owns a Smart, which he usually drives. An apparent fetish for not small cars, but tiny cars.

Lotus Elise

Stuck in traffic with me. Strong contender for my next "fun" car.

Nissan Altima Coupe 3.5SE

Not that special, of course, but while I've seen a lot of 2.5L coupes, this is the only 3.5L I've seen. Seems like a good alternative to the 350Z...until you take price into consideration, in which case it's totally not worth it. And it's still ugly.

Maserati Gran Turismo

As much as I see the common Ford-bin parts, I still think this works...mostly. It needs better coherence, but at least the design components are good. Hard to beat the engine note, though.

Mercury Comet ~1964

Something about this car just draws me to it every time I see it. I'm not sure why. It's not particularly special. Maybe it's that early-60's space-age name and image it...well, tries to conjure up.

Pontiac Firebird 1967 convertible

I thought these were super-rare, or was that just a specific trim level? The gold color, I'm sure, was a popular option.

Mercedes-Benz C230K Lorinser

Lorinser? Or fake? It moved well, sounded good, so I'm leaning towards real. But was it even offered by Lorinser?

Mercedes-Benz S600 2001

Love those massive wheels. As if you couldn't have a wheel with more metal.

Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG

Previous-generation supercharged version. I suppose it's okay, but it needs that much torque for a car that heavy.

Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG wagon/estate

I'd seen one about a year ago, in silver. I thought it was rare enough, but here's someone with not only a taste for AMG, but a desire to make the car look as old-fashioned as possible. If it weren't for the badges and exhaust, I'd assume it's a clanky old turbodiesel.

Porsche 911 Turbo 930

Not sure of the year, but it looked like it had friends.

Porsche 911 Turbo S 996

With GT3 wheels, no less. It actually looks quite good with them.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

Not one, but two. Right next to each other. It's like looking at two coked-up elephants watching traffic roll by.

Ford GT

I posted a Mercedes-Benz SL600 a few weeks ago. The owner also owns this little Ford, and one more....

Porsche Carrera GT

SL600, Ford GT, and this. That's, what, $850,000 in cars right there? Nice to be able to have trouble choosing which to drive to work in the morning. Still need to learn how to park, though

Great photos The Cracker! Most worthwhile double-post ever!? Didn't even have time for a shot of the E-Type Coupe eh!?

My camera ran out of batteries before i got chance to finish off snapping thread contenders. The E-type was nice but at a race meeting with genuine racing Lightweight E-types, it seemed rather mundane. Other cars i didn't get chance to capture were a 360 Stradale parked next to a normal 360 F1, an immaculate early AC Cobra 289, another slightly latter race-spec looking 289 Cobra (driven there, but not competing) and a gorgeous black Maserati Gran Turismo with the reg plate 'N4STY' 👍

I'd originally thought the yellow GT40 was genuine, it was metal bodied and perfectly detailed. It was only when i saw the reg plate that i realised it was the same car that i'd photographed (and wrongly identified at the time) at the 2007 Race Retro show.

Cracker, maybe i ask where those pics were taken? Very nice cars there

I was at Silverstone last weekend, it was my step-brother's turn to drive the Cortina.

Nor the number-clad Mini Cooper in the background, but still, amazing cars, the Stingray replica is very well done, and the Cobra looks badass with black wheels.

When i get chance, i'll post a '2008 Season so far' race report with a selection of the cars in action 👍

Great spots harry - the Bentley you've labelled a Continental T is actually an Arnage.

The E63 wagon is by far my favorite your spots (after the Carrera GT, which is the obligatory first pick). Of course it is also RARER than the CGT by about tenfold.

Here's one: VW Touareg R50. £62,000 (about $120,000), 5.0-litre V10, 345bhp 0-60 in 6.7 seconds. It's huge!

Cool, not seen an R50 before. I think i'd choose it over its Cayenne sister.

Definitely, it's far better looking, although there's no benefit to it being diesel, it averages 22mpg!

Random shots

TsLeng, that Ferrari looks like it's at the top of Lower Thames Street. That's a good place to see some big buck motors heading into London, seen loads there in my time. 👍

Dunno about the street but its near Tower of London near the thames.

The best place in London to see nice cars would be in knightsbridge or park lane ...

I get so jaded by seeing all these cars(especially the porsches and bentley gts/fyling spur) that I dont even bother ..lol.

But there are a few highlight occasionally but unfortunately no camera..

- once a carrera GT juat drove past right beside at leicester square.
- saw an F50 at piccadilly.

etc..

We used to... not with those ridiculous wheels or trim, but we got that engine (it's actually a 4.9L). Rare but you see them every so often.

yeah I remember we got the V10 TDI for what? 2 or 3 years? It's faster than the Cayenne V8!! But I like it even better with that trim, and I would hazard a guess that there's more than just a pretty face there.

Yellow R34 is not a GT-R, it doesn't have the rear fender flares. Nice copy, however.

Doug, have you been slacking off lately? You're not your usually self with one spot posts :sly:

I'm a bit busy with other stuff, but also check the temps in CO lately. We got SNOW two days ago... in MID MAY!!! Car spotting season doesn't really pick up here until my birthday (5/22) or a bit later.

Yup, it's a 1970 Ford Ranchero.

EDIT: By the way has anyone else seen an ASC Mclaren. I don't have a picture but I saw one on the way home and found it quite interesting. It was in perfect condition and was blue with an orange stripe along the bottom. It looked just like a mustang, but with a different front and rear end. He also had the license plate "MCLREN", which makes me wonder how long ago he had to have gotten that plate, especially with the amount of rich people in Florida.

I believe that's a Model A, all great spots!! cep for the Altima?

EDIT: HUGE FING WANT for the R50, why don't we get that?

yep, that's an A...the yellow wires give it away, even at a distance.

Serge D: what's an F doing in europe? it shouldn't be able to get down the roads 'cause of the width (not in a city, anyway)
it's a 94 body extended cab. there's a tool box in the back, and the wheels look like US Aftermarket with 31's on it. mabey somebody hauled it over here, or bought it off an airbase :P

considering it is parked right up the street from the Ranchero it's probably either an American living there or someone witha ford fetish.

If you hadn't noticed, us Europeans make wide cars too ;)

Widths:
Lamborghini Diablo: 2040mm
Koenigsegg CC8S: 1989mm
Maybach 62S: 1980mm
Ferrari Testarossa: 1976mm
Ford Ranchero: 1925mm

Thanks Diablo'.👍
I did not know what it was, there was just Ford on the back of the car.

I dont know,I think he like American cars.

I dont think he's American,he speaks French.

Two other cars that I saw at that place.

Chevrolet Pickup.

F 150.

A Ranchero is one thing. A F150 is another. The current one, alone, is 2,004mm wide, 75.6 inches tall, and 112 inches long as a standard model. And even though the Diablo is wider, the width is at least used for aerodynamic purposes. The F150, on the hand, is just large.
