Understood. One of my requirements is an automatic, so I'm off the S2000 and on the G35/IS (slash CTS if I could afford it!) bus.

Yeah, I can understand someone wanting an automatic instead of a standard; but for me, I miss driving a standard too much and really pretty much require my next car to have one.

I think it'd be kind of stupid/tool/loser to get the 350Z in automatic so I probably will end up without a Z... but man they're cool.

I agree with your assessment of an automatic 350Z.

I do like the Zs a lot and that is the reason they are in my top two cars to look at, along with the S2000. I do not really have much of a list outside of the S2000 and 350Z, but I have put a ton of thought into all the different cars I want to look at.

Man I know what you mean about being tired of school, and if the different really isn't that significant then maybe it's not the best idea, but it'd be a shame if you found out 20 years down the road that there's a glass ceiling for people without master's degrees... ya know? Food for thought I guess.

The salary difference is not much between a Bachelor's and Master's. Right now, there are not enough students graduating with degrees in civil engineering.

Take The University of Oklahoma (now my alma mater :dopey:), OU has a student population of about 30,000 (according to Wikipedia, 29,721). I just graduated with about 20 (I got this number from the commencement program) other students in civil engineering. That is almost 0.1% of the student population. If you include last July's and December's graduates, the number goes up to about 25 people (including myself) with civil engineering degrees. So firms are really looking for people to hire; it is not going to change any time in the immediate future because of the continued increase in need of people with engineering degrees and the continued lack of graduating student with those degrees.

So, the short term benefit for a Master's degree is another year of cheap season football tickets :dopey: (and this is huge considering I probably will not be able to get season tickets for another 10-15 years) and a slightly higher starting salary. But I would miss out on a year of experience, salary, and would have one less year to count towards getting my PE. Having already spent almost a year at the firm I am going to work at, I am not going to gain much in practical experience by staying another year and getting my Master's, especially compared to a year working at an engineering firm.

My most recent experience with Oklahoma is this:

104mph_average-050908.jpg

The speed in the middle, right below the temperature? That is an AVERAGE. I had reset that average some time earlier.

If you are not in Oklahoma City or Tulsa, then you can do some pretty good speeds through Oklahoma. Outside of the cities, there is not a whole lot of Highway Patrol on the Interstates. (Disclaimer: Most of the time there is not much Highway Patrol on the Interstates, though occasionally there is. Just because I have said there is usually little Highway Patrol is not a reason to speed; hopefully, no one will not go now and speed excessively through the state.)

I had a similar experience (referring to your average speed) on my way to this last year OU-Tulsa game in Tulsa. I had left about four hours prior to kickoff to go to Tulsa and knowing Tulsa is about an hour and half drive from Oklahoma City, I thought I was going to have plenty of time to get there. Well I had not known about there being construction on I-44, so I had to sit and creep for around two hours to travel 20 miles because of the construction. It was completely absurd! So, I pushed the pace a bit to make up time. At one point, I thought I was having a problem with my car, but it was just dust being thrown up from the highway. Then once I got to Tulsa, I had no idea where I was going and went right on past through Tulsa. Needless to say, I got into the stadium with about a minute and a half before kickoff and then proceeded to watch OU beat Tulsa 62-21. :dopey:

Finally on another note, I went out with a friend to one of the local cruise spots and saw about four S2000s, a little over a half dozen 350Zs, a couple Nismo 350Zs, and some other neat stuff. Though, I did not take any pictures of anything. My phone probably would not have done a very good job in the dark anyways.

I honestly believe that the only worse car for sale presently is the Maserati GranTurismo - and I further honestly believe that it is among the ugliest cars ever built.

Pfft, I see we can't possibly agree. The GranTurismo is slightly above a Jaguar XK in my rank, neatly equal to an Aston. The 612 is a short way below..

I thought the Magnum looked like it was trying to improve the aerodynamics. As for the Civic, I've read the whole thread on the fuel saving website the owner details his modifications, and whilst it isn't exactly factory the ideas he's had are quite impressive. It seems unfair that people criticise him for what he's done to the car.

What have I seen today? The following:

I read that site, and I do think some of his ideas are neat (though some don't make that much sense). I just said, having a Magnum is not exactly the place to start saving on fuel - all the streamlining in the world won't help whale.

As for the hillclimb, that's some tasty photography too, considering their speeds. Though an Arnage hillclimbing? :P

Why get a 612 when you can have a 599?

Because 599s have a two-year waiting list?

:D

Is there any other reason than not knowing how to drive manual for this criteria?

If that's the only real reason, that's a really bad excuse IMO. The small amount of time it takes to learn is greatly outnumbered by the benefits.

Just my 2 cents. (no-one says that anymore)

I can name a dozen reasons but what it ultimately comes down to is that I simply do not like the added hassle of manual transmission in day-to-day driving. For a second car, yes. Not otherwise.

ROAD_DOGG33J
How long of a wait for the 612?

None. My local dealer told me, and I quote, "we only order them when Ferrari makes us."

For Cano.

Tomorrow I go to the repair shop and ask if I can make some pics.

Saw a lot of nice cars today (went to another hillclimb) but this one has always been one of my favourite cars since it came out:

Great photos once again, Cano!

Here's some stuff from the last few days since I got my new camera. As I said before, the weather here has been awful with very heavy rainfall and a lot of flooding so there's been little on the streets and photography has been difficult. However there are a few things. Some of the shots I took were more to practice with the camera at different settings rather than the subject matter. So, tell me what you think...

Some awesome photos there Rue, the Harrier and the S-class are particularly top notch!

===

I'm a bit curious, was the Suzuki Jimny marketed in the states as a Samurai or am I thinking of something else?

Nice photos Rue! 👍 Hopefully the weather will begin to cooperate with you and you can get some more great pictures with your camera. The S-Class shot is really nice. I also the Toyota Sera one looks good. The last picture with the Supra is really neat, as the car seems like it is out of place.

Thanks for the positive comments fellas. Yeah, hopefully the weather will improve soon. We have a nice bright sunny day today and it's a public holiday, but I'll be spending most of the day with my mates so probably won't get much time for car-spotting! We'll see.

Majorly agree, i love this thing, remember there are only 500 of them, probably less by now, i see one regularly (lives down near my best mates house) and drool as i walk past it. I've seen 2 different ones in this area, but since, one seems to have vanished :( What was the registration of that one? i've seen (and have photos of) W557 XPU and X869 VEV, im a bit of a fan of the racing puma's, i'd love to own one, but alas i dont have the £8k (at least) needed for a good example. :/

Rue: What settings did you use for the s-class and harrier by the way?
it looks as if you've clipped the channels so you've only got yellow/cyan left?

I used 'colour-accent' to only pick out the yellow shades for the Toyota and forgot to turn it off for the Benz.

That Nera is supposedly 1 of 60 in the states. I wonder why they would take off the smoked taillights though, maybe not street legal in all states?

Standard Neras do not have smoked tail lights. I took these photos the day that car was purchased:

Okay, is that one of your mates again? Stupid bugger. :P
Well, like what the others had said, nice shot of the S-Class, Harrier and the Sera. 👍 Its interesting to see the "artistic" side of you coming out and show it here. At least it won't be as boring shooting the same car again and again. :D

Doug, nice spot in the last posts, and well, I'll comment on your Ferrari spots in your other thread. As for the Nera, its REMOVED BY MOD!!!!! :D:drool:👍

I'm the same, if I had that sort of money I'd be getting one without hesitation (okay I'd hesitate a little, as the sort of Elise S1s I like are around the same money!). They're gorgeous looking little cars and supposed to be one of the best handling FWD cars ever. They got everything right though, the colour, the stance, the sound etc. Much less blunt and brash than the current hot hatches.

Some more stuff I saw yesterday:

Today another good spot for me, an STI Subaru Liberty. So far the third one I've seen on road, fourth one I've ever seen. Only 300 ever made. Got pics but I don't think anyone would car much anyways.
