Yesterday I saw a yellow Viper GTS at John Santilli's Dodge dealer parked out front. It wasn't for sale, and I didn't have a camera at the time so that's all I have. Sorry.

I don't know if this is covered before or not, but I don't think dealerships should count (unless it's a Veyron, or few-of-a-kind top-shelf stuff). It's kind of like going to the zoo and claiming you went on safari. The real "thrill" is when you see this stuff being used & driven. Otherwise, I could hop over to Greenwich and fill this forum from here to GT5's release date.

Just my opinion. In fact, just forget I said anything. :dunce:
1st off, nice photos, and good sightings. 👍

2nd, imo, it's a little unfair to compare a zoo to the exotics.
I mean, you actually have to go to a zoo these days if you want to see a giraffe or that unless you live in Africa or another country (no offense). And some exotics, you may have to go see them there. I plan on going to Lamborghini tomorrow, and a $550,000 Saleen isn't exactly something I expect to see anywhere else, espcially since 1 of those Saleens happens to be a Competition model, and as far as I know of, no one on this site seems to have seen one yet (not trying to brag here, of course :guilty: ).

Besides, the original title was "Did you see anything good today?" Well, a Ferrari is a good car, and I saw it so it does count technically. But I'd rather not turn this into a debate. I keep my sightings from dealers in other threads anyways. :)

To be fair, those 70's & 80's Ferraris that you got over your side of the pond were strangled by emissions regulations. Your 308's had little over 215bhp compared to the rest of the world's 255bhp. The 308 QV was a little better at 240bhp and the 328 better still at 270bhp. Still well down on the SRT8's 420 from a 6.1 so its hardly surprising.

That's quite true - I hadn't thought about that much. I suppose the point here is the Grand Cherokee SRT-8 is damn quick. :D

Doug - did you know that there's a Denver plated McLaren F1 running around? I was looking at an old copy of CAR magazine where they had a little snippet of pictures of F1's spotted worldwide by readers.

I'm totally in awe - can you scan the article? And if not - can you read the license plate number? If I could know the tag number I'd know what county the vehicle was registered in, which, depending on the county, may give me more of a chance of seeing it. Exoticspotter.com has a shot of a McLaren F1 with Texas plates (MCLAR-N) in Snowmass Village, the hotel community of Aspen. When I was there this summer I searched every parking lot in Snowmass hoping lightining would strike twice but, no surprise, no luck. :D Let me know more details - you've blown my mind!

*McLaren*
While true, it may be gone by now. Many McLarens usually don't stay in 1 place too long if it gets daily driven. It could be in a garage, in Woking, or somewhere else.

Also sadly true - I've been spotting exotics for fifteen months now and my adage is, if I haven't seen it, it doesn't get driven (though that's sort of crap because I've never seen an Enzo despite the fact that several have been posted on Exoticspotter with Denver tags and we know at least three are rego'd in Colorado). That coupled with the fact that there are only 64 road-going McLaren F1s in existence means I haven't got much chance. Still - this is even more mind-blowing than the Veyron we have here.

As for my sightings - today was "rare day" in Denver - rare cars only! :D

I'm not sure which is the rarest car in that shot but none are common. In fact, the combined production run of the CLS55, Grand Cherokee TSi, and LX450 is four years  (though the CLS55 is still in production).

The best shot though is this one:

I keep a list of rare and interesting cars and I was looking at it just yesterday. I came up to the Durango Adventurer and laughed at myself for putting it on the list, because I didn't think a) they actually made it and b) that I'd actually see one. Lo and behold, here it is. I'm 100% certain that no more than 500 of these are in existence - it was a stupid off-road package that no Durango owner would've wanted. I'm not sure if it's still being produced (ConsumerGuide says it is - it came out in '05) but it's quite rare no less.

EDIT: I might as well post this here - you guys might get a kick out of it.

ahj-754NAT2.jpg

August 18, 2006 - Denver, Colo.

Only two of those are known to exist in Colorado - this is the second. What's funny is the other one was completely normal. Perhaps also comical is that if this guy pulled it off his car and listed it on eBay, he could probably get a few hundred dollars for the single and a bit more for the pair. They're that rare.

Ah yes, isn't it legal to import R32's into Canada now? That is sweet, wish the US would take up on the idea, not just to see a Skyline, but I have always wanted to see a real Kei-car.

Then again, some of the imported Skylines in the US would become Ricearoni.

What color was the AE86?

Edit: M5, that's a really nice picture of the 850ci there.

I'm not sure whether if its legal or not, but I do know that several firms here run an importing business where they import the Skylines from Japan and sell them here for profit. Haven't seen too many R33 bodied Skylines (only one) and no R34 bodies Skylines at all. But yes, if I do have the money than it is possible to buy a Skyline here.

The AE86 was dark silver.

It's a bit extreme for a comparison, but going to a Mercedes dealer and taking shots of every AMG in view isn't quite the same. However, anywhere you see somthing like a McLaren F1 or any Bugatti, it's a quality shot. In my opinion. ;)

You can be "lost!!" There's a very rich (VERY rich) area near my house (but in a different neighborhood and a much different league) where all the homes are worth $20m+. We know of at least one supercar rego'd in there - a Lamborghini Diablo. I've never photographed a Diablo, so I'm quite interested in doing so; as a result, I drive through there every few weeks hoping to get lucky. Whenever I do such, I go past huge signs that say "NO TRESPASSING," etc. I just pull out my cell phone and pretend I'm talking on it, so if I ever get stopped I'd just say I was lost and pretend I was asking my friend on the other line where I'm going. I haven't had to use that excuse yet, but it'd work for sure.

I guess so, but going by once a week looks odd. Maybe I'm just too paranoid. Still, the last few times he's just got the 650Ci and FX45 sitting out front. Must be on vacation.

M5Power
By the way - fantastic pictures - particularly the F40. I don't know if I'll ever see one, but if I did, I'd go absolutely freaking nuts. I mean just LOOK at the damn thing.

It's the second one I've seen, but they're two years apart. The other was being worked on in Miller Motorcars (http://www.millermotorcars.com/). Fantastic place. Two showrooms full of, well, you name it. Even if you can't name it, they'll get it for you. Never seen anything like it on the East coast (although I don't know Miami too well). Next time I go by, I'll get a shot of their main driveway.

That's a strange shade of yellow, is it not? Plate was "2BAD4U"

I'm seeing a pattern with Viper owners: they seem to have the highest percentage of customized license plates out of any model or brand.

Today was busy at work, so it's all golden oldies today:
Ferrari 380GTB - seen almost every day at a garage that specializes in muscle cars. :odd:
Ferrari Mondial 3.2 - the red arrow points to the Lotus Elise HRM I asked about earlier.
Lotus Elise - redundant, but the color combination is nice.
Lotus Exige - color combination is not nice, but it's still a cool car. :D
Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG 2001 - Caught! :scared: Man, what a dirty look.
Mercedes-Benz SLK32 - 'esquire'

I must've missed a lot, but probably just more Rolls/Bentleys/Astons.

Absurdly, more rare cars:

ahk6vz2.jpg

August 18, 2006 - Denver, Colo.

Some of those are pretty cool - the Outback sedan is the first-gen model, not sold outside the USA. I've never seen one outside Colorado, but supposedly the entire thing got started when a customer in Connecticut liked his wagon so much he suggested they make a sedan too. The first-gen model was only sold in '98 and '99 - most people are unaware of their existence.

Check out that BMW Bavaria at the bottom - that's an E3! :D

Audi S4 Avant - non-V8

I will not be outdone!

No way!

Whose house did you break into for these pictures?! :D

You see, this was why this thread was re-done. Anyone can just come in and post a big list of cars. You need to supply photos now! Or is this just one of your "joke" posts?

I just saw...

- Ferrari 550M Superamerica in red
- Lamborghini Murciealago in black with black/silver split rims
- Porsche Cayenne (Hate 'em) Turbo S (Hate 'em less) in ALL black (Me likey)
- Honda NSX in black
- Porsche 996 Turbo in red (first I've seen in this colour)
- VW Phaeton (With a badge under the rear VW emblem - any ideas?)
- R34 Skyline GT-T in black (looked evil until the rear wing spoilt it)
- Mercedes C36 AMG in silver (The first production AMG Merc?)

Ferrari 380GTB - seen almost every day at a garage that specializes in

Is that a replica?

EDIT: Apologies for the double post! On finding out a bit more about AMG, it seems they proceeded the C32 with a car which I just realised that my best mates dad used to have - an AMG 300CE 'Hammer'! I never realised just how special this car was and now I appreciate the lifts to school he used to give me much more. The niggling thing is that his was the coupe exactly pictured here, but on further reading it seems the 4-door is the original Hammer. Any light you chaps can shed...?

I'd kill for a pic of the Superamerica!!!

The C36 wasn't really the first AMG Mercedes - that honor goes to the W124 300E "Hammer," which was out in 1986. But the production of that was extremely limited, and in today's sense, the C36 was really the first - it debuted all the way back in 1996.

Hey chaser_fan, one thing I always meant to ask you but never did - when you post these sightings, what time is it for you? Here it's 4am but it's probably day where you are - that last post for example - what time was that made?

EDIT:

Any light you chaps can shed...?

I wasn't even aware there was a coupe version of the "Hammer" - I thought it was just the sedan. Regardless, to my knowledge the sedan debuted in 1986 which preceeds the C36 by a decade - I can't specifically speak to whether the coupe or the sedan debuted first among the W124 models, but presumably it was around the same time.

I just went out and saw those cars at around 4pm 19.08.06. I have pics of all of those cars. The Superamerica's a bit blurry, but it's not too bad. Read my edited post about the 'Hammer'. Put the pics up later tonight...

Yeah it's just gone 6pm, daan.

Just took this with my mobile off my digicam...

I've been meaning to post these here, but haven't gotten around to it in my busy unemployed life. I was in Paris in June, and here are some cars I spotted there.

Not a big deal. Just an Elise, but I'd never seen one upclose.

Does a Copen count as good?

It's not something you see everyday over here. Its tiny. You could fit 2 of them in that lane.

that would be the srt10,it has some giggle gas :D

I actually see them a few times a week. Not everydayper se but still pretty often.

I've seen alot of Elises recently, both S1 and S2. And on my holiday I saw 4 TVRs (Tuscan, 2 Griffiths and a Tamora.

I also saw a 996 Turbo, sadly the only car I got some sought of pic of. But it doesn't warant the hassle of posting :D

Near enough! All I knew was that it was a big-ass pick up truck. :D

I didn't know about that. I might pop along if the weather is decent. It is hard to spell Chatelherault. Its even harder to say without being rude.

Well, I won't count dealerships since I went to 3 today, but I did see 2 M3s, 1 of which was a Competition PKG model. Saw a bright yellow NSX coming out of Boardwalk Porsche/Audi, and plenty of C6 Corvettes....

The only thing in the dealerships that was pretty rare was a Quattroporte Sport GT (no Executive GT though), a Phantom, and a Vanquish considering you don't see a Phantom here in Dallas often, let alone a Rolls-Royce or a Aston Martin (besides both having dealers which I still need to visit again soon).

I also saw a Saleen SR, S281-E, and Mustang Cobra R SVT in Beverly Hills. And a Quattroporte

:indiff:
