Anyone want to theorize why the DB9 appears to be significantly more popular than the V8 Vantage?
Just a theory, of course:
V12 Aston Martin's are well accepted. The DB7 has been the sole survivor of AM for, what, 10 years now? That's what they're known for nowadays. The Vanquish, while being superior, is pretty much the same car (V12, rear-drive, grand touring car). Aston hasn't had a somewhat compact car in...well, I can't remember when. The V8 Vantage, while more affordable, has two things against it:
- it's a relative unknown idea from AM
- it's got huge competition (Porsche 911, Corvette Z06, etc.)
As far as I can tell, the competition for the DB9 are far fewer, and usually more expensive.
To me, that results in lower production expectations for the Vantage. This should change as the AM re-establishes their reputation across the board. I would imagine that their production would mirror Lamborghini's (cheaper model == higher production).
