I've just come back from visiting my girlfriend in Britain and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised with the amount of nice cars there (with the exception of a few very horribly styled ones)!

Over the past week I've seen:

Loads of RX-8's and Toyota MR2's, a TVR Sagaris, a couple of 350 Z's, a couple of Aston Martin Vantages, a Lamborghini Gallardo, an R33 Skyline GTR, and the best one: In Edinburgh i saw a Porsche Carrera GT drive past. :) đź‘Ť

Hope you had a nice stay :) Come back soon :D

On my way home tonight I could have sworn I saw a new XKR, and I defiantely saw a 56 plate new S80 V8.

Either way, it's stunning that ANY SSRs made it out of the States. I mean, we're not even dumb enough to buy them, and we'll buy anything. :D

Too true.

It's a couple blocks away from where I live, although I don't pass it often. Thought I'd get a shapshot of it, though.
(E30 M3, for those of you not in the know).

We'll live with an occasional picture-less sighting post, but please post pictures of the actual car you saw. I'll refer you to the first post of this thread for the guidelines/rules.

Over the weekend and on my trip to Pittsburgh yesterday I saw a number of interesting exotics, but I wasn't able to snap any usable shots, so I'll decline to mention them by name.

i saw some brand new Saab thing, never even seen any pre-production pics or anything and im not sure when its supposed to have been released, i could tell it was a saab by the shapes, and the lights looked odd, kinda blacked out with silver around the edges...

Can anyone identify this Saab?

edit: wait i just found a pic, seems as if it was a new saab 9-5

but dont take my word for it, i'll have to get a pic if i see it around again.

sorry if this post doesnt comform to the thread rules.

Red-letter day. Er, red-car day. For some reason, everything I was able to get shots of was red. There was other potential shots (including an SRT-8 that I hadn't seen until today), but I'm considering a bionic camera eye to catch this stuff.

BMW X5 4.8is
Bentley Turbo R - right outside my office, because they were shooting a scene from Law & Order: CI right around the corner (no shots of that, either :grumpy: )
Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet - starting to see these a lot. I'd rather some variety. Where's the GT3?
Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX - genuine as far as I could tell, but they're rare around here.

That is just about the only even mildly flattering angle for the car, but it looks pretty good in that exact picture. Silver paint tones down those ghastly chrome Lone Ranger masks they put around the front openings. If you see it in a dark color, you'll swear it's some cheap aftermarket pimp job.

I assume that the SSR was indeed an import brought over by one of the specialty companies that have been shipping several "US-only" models to the UK over the past few years. There was an interesting article in CAR about a year ago on it, popular models including the Mustang (duh!), H3 (eh?), G35 Sport Coupe (makes sense...), and Honda Element (why?).

Too bad the 2004 SSR was plagued with the LM4 version of the Vortec 5300. Granted, there is a healthy 325 BHP workhorse under the hood, but it doesn't match the personality that the SSR puts out... Certainly the LS2 fixed most of that, and quite frankly, an LS2/T56 equipped SSR was the only way to go. Its a pitty they didn't build them that way from the start, of course they would have had to go with the LS1 or LS6, but Corvette power is the only kind that would have "made sense."

What I saw today:

There was a rather nice looking E36 M3 for sale about a mile and a half away from my Mother's office, and although I had very little time to look, from what I could see it looked to be in good shape. I can't afford it, but a nice car nonetheless...

I must say that as much as I hate the H3 for being a pointless and contrived piece of garbage (Why does an SUV even wear the Hummer badge when so many other vehicles can kill it off road?), and the Element for so obviously trying to be a succesor to the Aztek, they are still better than the SSR. $50,000 for a truck with a carpeted "bed," cheap aluminum accrutements and looks, that while nice, have nothing on the far better in every way Prowler and even the "at least it doesn't weigh 2 tons" T-Bird. And they called the Lincoln Blackwood a bad value? At least that could sit 4 people.

Quite sure this vehicle never came in red - likely an aftermarket paint job.

 The newest vehicle you link to was cancelled six years ago!

Maybe people buy SUVs for more than just off-road prowess...

Actually, the 4.8 is available in red, Imola Red for that matter. However, the completely red mirrors appear to be aftermarket given the 4.8 features a black "support" for the side mirrors.

Interesting,

I would have thought the UK companys would import V35 Skyline coupes rather then G35's due to V35's being RHD.

Your bro's i presume?

Yep - bet you didn't know I was related to Pacman.

For law-sticklers out there, it does actually have a front registration plate - I just found it easier to 'shop the whole thing out rather than blank the plate. It's mounted on the top of that front yellow panel.

Farely rapid is it? :sly:

In that middle shot is there somebody sat in the passenger seat? - i bet they had a great view

It's just a bit quick, and now I want one because nothing else is fast enough.

The 6 year old in the passenger seat of shot 2 wasn't too keen to see where she was going - but it brings up an interesting question about the new booster seat law when applied to bucket-seated, 6-point harnessed mentalcars.
