I've been a bit preoccupied with a new lady friend, so car spotting has been down for me lately. The weather's been epic too.

Land Rover Range Rover Country, I love these things.

Chevelle I think
IMG_3795.jpg

Random old car = Plymouth Sport fury. 1967? something like that.

Chevelle? = yes, Chevelle, 1972, with horrid Boyd wheels.

I saw a few things while driving on the freeway, but they weren't on the freeway, so I couldn't get a picture.
A Maserati GranTurismo infront of a Gym
And a Bentley Continental GT infront of an insurance firm.

Thanks, my dad and I were going back on forth on what it was. He kept saying a Chrysler and I was thinking, well I don't know what I was thinking.

And yes, those wheels on the Chevelle are fairly horrid. But it was in a thug nation part of town so it could have been a whole lot worse...like 22" donked out worse.

I saw a really lovely Aston Martin in London's rich Hampstead area today, never seen one like it before so I snapped a very low quality shot (through the guy's gates). After trawling through the internet and wikipedia and Aston Martins.com, it turns out it was an INCREDIBLY special and rare car...

Aston Martin Vantage Special Series II (or I?)

2zs8qpj.jpg

Now if you look this up on Google images, you'll see a number of pictures of this EXACT car in this precise location!! Clearly a lot of car buffs recognised it as something tremendously rare, and according to the AstonMartins.com website it is one of a frighteningly small number made. It is on the driveway of a mansion on one of London's most prestigious roads, The Bishop's Avenue.

Here's the page from the AstonMartins.com site:
http://www.astonmartins.com/virage/vantage_special_series_II.htm

Later, same day, didn't get the phone out quick enough to snap a picture of a stunning rosso corsa ferrari 348 Berlinetta, one of my all-time favourites.

I did however finally get some snaps of the nutty orange V8 Vantage that parks near my flat regularly...

I have a few better pics of it on the other phone, but you get the idea 👍
Sorry for low pic quality, not up to the standard of the others posted. That's what you get with a poxy Blackberry-wannabe :(

All the best

That Aston spot is incredible! I'm going to go and check out the info on it now.

These are from my and Dac_Xint's little walk around HK Island on Sat afternoon.

sick colour on the Aston! and Rue, please slap Paul in the face for the amazing first picture of the BB.

ok enough, time for some mundane post.

old Mercedes 280SEL chugging along traffic in almost flat gray paint... which I think is the faded original paint. It looks great.
gdeghe161.jpg

fairly nice all-black Caribe (or MKI Golf if you prefer) with some wheels and engine bits... bleh:
gdeghe164.jpg

ML63 AMG alongside the previous Caribe/Golf...
gdeghe165.jpg

one of those werid three-wheeled things and a bonus Solstice:
gdeghe166.jpg

haha this was neat, a 1968 Impala SS ragtop, extremely rare in Mexico, but not only that, turned into an awesome frame-scrapping lowrider... then left for dead. I mean I'm sure the owner lives in the house adjacent to it, but it's been there for at least 2 years decomposing... last time I saw it it had a heavy dent in the door. Poor car, it could be an awesome daily driver.
gdeghe167.jpg

gdeghe171.jpg

trash bulking up under the car:
gdeghe169.jpg

1947 Chevrolet made into a ragtop and turned into an ugly street rod... then, again, abandoned. I found this car about 7 or 8 years ago and it has been sitting in the exact same spot since then, just getting worse.
gdeghe172.jpg

I'll post the original 8-year old picture when I find it and link back to here.

an old, cool and minty Mercedes seemingly left for dead in this house's parking spot. Not good.
gdeghe173.jpg

then, blam. An indecently rare in here Ford Anglia abandoned inside a building's parking space, seemed someone had started to fix something under it and just left it there...
gdeghe175.jpg

Seat Leon turbo with some nice wheels:
gdeghe177.jpg

ah, this is dramatic. altough the picture is blurry, you can more or less make up what used to be a car, all turned into debris and burned down. It was one of several cars that was involved in the fiery secretary of government's plane crash in downtown Mexico city that cost a lot of lives... well, you may have heard about it like a yer and a half ago.
gdeghe179.jpg

Absolutely pristine Renault 12 Routhier in eye-searing orange and with classic plates, it had the "power dome" in the hood, which I think meant that the car was something extraordinary, but I dont really remember... awesome car, tough.
gdeghe184.jpg

Along the same lines, a random abandoned Renault 5:
gdeghe186.jpg

Then, a 1971 mexican Chevelle, which means six-pot power, but still, it looked cool with the magnesium slots.
gdeghe187.jpg

what I managed to catch of a new-gen WRX STI:
gdeghe189.jpg

very very nice VW Brasilia! most of these have turned into rust clouds by now, soo it was cool to see this one in such good shape, and rocking a good slam, Empi Soider knock-offs, and general awesomeness.
gdeghe191.jpg

Same parking lot held this off-roady Cherokee.
gdeghe192.jpg

generic M3 being washed up, hence the windshield wippers put up:
gdeghe194.jpg

1948 Chevy pick up just abandoned there... it has since disappeared:
gdeghe196.jpg

in the same spot as the chevy was this tube-frame baja Bug, abandoned in the middle of something. Sad, as it seemed to be a cool car, haha:
gdeghe197.jpg

awesome 1969 Chevelle at a shop I usually stalk because they always have awesome cars. This seemed to have a V8 swapped in even tough it was a mexican version... and some 17 inch American wheels to boot.
gdeghe199.jpg

And finally, the newest Mustang I've seen abandoned. Shame.
gdeghe200.jpg

rice this time consists of a Hyundai Atos that took on a very strange effect because of the low light of the pic. I really like how it looks, haha:
gdeghe176.jpg

There goes. dang, a lot of abandoned cars in this post.

sick colour on the Aston! and Rue, please slap Paul in the face for the amazing first picture of the BB.

Actually these are all taken by Rue, I thought I'd wait till he post his and then decide which ones from my collection to post. That BB512 really is stunning.

Very cool 356 Speedster! i wonder if it is a replica or a real one?

You got it, its a replica, the registration paper on the car said it is a Volkswagen, most likely a Bug conversion. Rue and I was wondering if we should tell the truth but I guess its not easy to fool you guys :D

Okay, Some spots from the same day plus a few more:

Great looking Impreza, complete with two spoke rally steering wheels and one piece Recaro bucket seats.

My first white face-lift Z4, I like these above any other colour because it hides the awkward side indicator that sticks out like a sore thumb in every other colour.

A little more on the Special Series Aston I posted about last night, it turns out it is one of 3 made in the world, all 3 of which were made for the Sultan of Brunei. This one belongs to his brother Prince Jeffri who now lives on that road in London, having been ostracized for embezzling in his home country!

Today brought some more great car-spotting luck. I didn't snap pics of yet another Maserati GranTurismo or a white Gallardo with numberplate "SNO8 ELJ", but I absolutely had to photograph this, an extremely uncommon site in London:

Avro "720 Mirage" Ford GT, simply stunning. And only TEN made worldwide??

Also here are a couple of better pictures of the similarly-coloured Aston Martin V8 Vantage:

I simply can't believe the luck I've had with spotting rare cars around my area these last few weeks.

Oh Synwraith, these is one of the best posts in the thread I think, great stuff!

My pleasure mate 👍, but I think my favourite is your Ferrari 512BB. I worship that car and would love to see it in the flesh.

All the best

Love the Mirage GT. Amazing! Triple black M5 is also epic and a great little story about the Aston. Those are what make the thread. Also, Paul your photos are too good on every level - go away!

Where did you spot that Ford GT? I have a funny feeling I have seen it before. Nice car 👍

I saw a Lincoln Blackwood today. Not that a Blackwood is particularly "good", per se, but it must have been one of the approximately 8 that they sold in the whole country before they realized what a stupid idea it was.

Good lord, you have no idea how I missed your posts, Tuttle. 2002, Citroen, old Fiats (and Rolls), the turbo Mercedes, the Scirocco and all that is awesome, give us more.

Haha. :D Okay. More today, dude.

Cano
As GNX said, it's a 1940 Ford Coupe, and I think it's even a business version (longer trunklid), nice one.

Ah, cool. 👍 Thanks, guys.

Cano
and this oh man this. THIS!! You actually found a very very very rare car, Tuttle. 1958 Ford Edsel Pacer (trim level) two door. YES, GO AND GET MORE PICTURES. I WANT MORE. You know, like, MORE.

It's like the coolest thing ever posted here.

Oh, maybe, I don't know. I found out more this yesterday. It's not just a car in a barn near a house. There's more to it. See below.

Alpina B7
IMG_3788.jpg

As discussed earlier, this is not a true B7. It's missing the dual-twin exhaust. As far as I can remember, only the Pagani Zonda has a quad exhaust.

I have about 200 photos from NYIAS that I'm trying to get posted. I should be able to get them up soon (along with my usual 'get-off-my-lawn' commentary).

On with the show:

BMW bike & sidecar ~1955

I'm not sure of the year, but I wasn't the only one taking shots of this. Some other guy held up his girlfriend for at least 10 minutes. He took photos, made phone calls...all in Italian. He didn't make a big fuss about it, but he just kept hovering around this thing. Just get your pics and move on.

Ford Thunderbird Convertible 1966

That's not paint flaking on the back, it's stickers. I guess since it's a restomod, I'll let it go, but at least try to have some taste.

Lincoln Continental convertible 1966

I love images of old New York. Anything older than 1985 gets my attention, and I was even there for quite a while before then. Move the Beetle out of the way and you'd have a perfect period shot. That gallery entrance is so choice.

Chevrolet Impala 1966

A fixer-upper, being fixed-upped.

Dodge Challenger R/T Convertible 1970

Just cruising through town. I kept missing him, but he definitely made at least three loops in the span of 15 minutes. The sound was happily hard to miss.

Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale ~1975

The name was right there, clearly visible. I had seen it, tried to remember it, then promptly forgot it. My memory sucks.

-->Fixed via buickgnx88!

Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost

I could have sworn the photo was better than this when I took it. I have to be more careful.

Toyota Prius HYBRID

Methinks he doth protest too much.

Audi Q7 TDI

For some reason Audi, who does quite excellently with diesel sales in Europe, is doing just about nothing in the US. That makes this just a little more rare, if not exactly special.

Volkswagen Beetle Turbo S

About as masculine as the Beetle ever got. Well, barring the barely-produced RSi.

Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6

Sleepy is right; good engine, sloppy car. Seen on the way out of NYIAS.

Nissan 350Z Nismo

"Hello, Nissan? I'd like to talk to you about how diffusers actually work...."

Lotus Elise 2007

For some reason, the exhaust was super loud. He kept revving it, too. Dude, it's NYC traffic; give it a rest. You're heading to midtown anyway. Be prepared to wait even more.

Porsche 911 GT3 997

Cell phone photos. Not bad, actually. Better than some others. Good timing, too, as the GT3 is a wonderful sight.

The Barn Yard

I finally got to get a good look at the 'barn find'. It appears to be part of the property of an auto body shop (imaginatively named "County Auto Body"). I had posted an old Mercedes SL (~1956) that was inside, and it appears that they do repairs and restorations. However, I'm not sure if they consider the heaps next door lost causes or not. There appears to be a pair of Thunderbirds there, and possibly more just out of view. I felt hesitant to go traipsing on in as it was the middle of a workday. However, they are definitely closed on Sunday. So all I have to do is find a free Sunday....

And now, your moment of zen:
