FREENAT!

Guess the joke! (Hint: it's not about someone named Nat in jail.)

Jeep GP 1945

A GP that was actually used in WWII.

Honda Civic Si Mugen 2006

I have my doubts about this one. The wheels are wrong, although that was the most common part stolen off these. The rest looks right, though.

Fiat X-1/9 1980

Still just a two-tone for now (no rust)!

Ford Fairlane GT-A 1967

A little stumpy-looking, but probably a better driver than most.

Ford Mustang Roush Stage...?

Anyone know which stage this might be?

[Attack of the Chevelle's]

Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 1966

Loud and proud to show it off. Revved it hard as I went past at a stop light.

Chevrolet Chevelle SS 1971

Recent restoration from what appears to be a good shop. This is the place that had that old Edsel tucked away (not pictured). I have to find time to sneak around the back lot there.

Chevrolet Chevelle SS 1972

I had a refridgerator that was this color. Few things can wear this color and make it look good...or perhaps not matter much.

Chevrolet El Camino SS 1987

Not a Chevelle!

[Attack of the Chevelle's][/b]

Dodge Charger R/T 1969

Not as loud as the '66 Chevelle, but much more menacing-looking.

Dodge Magnum SRT-8 2007

This, believe it or not, was chasing the silver Cobra (see below)

BMW 335d

First BMW diesel I've seen in a long, long time, and it's an awesome one.

Cadillac CTS-V 2011

I have yet to sit in a new Cadillac since 2006, but I don't think I'm missing much. Engine? Good. Everything else? Mmmm...I'll pass.

Maserati Gran Cabrio 2010

Big, but beautiful.

Aston Martin DB9 Volante

Prima...what?

Audi R8 V8

There's got to be a V10 or Spider around here somewhere.

Nissan GT-R 2009

No idea what 2942 means, but it sure sounds familiar.

Lotus Elise 2009

This one spot in the middle of suburbia keeps turning up neat little gems like this. Others have been a CR-Z, Jaguar Mk2, and a Boxster Spyder. All right in front of this house. Must have nice friends, that guy.

Porsche 911 1967

I've posted this before, but there's no denying the simple grace of an early 911.

Porsche 911 GT3 2010

A dealer car out for a test drive...at 8:15 in the morning. Well, wouldn't you?

Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG

A genuine step down from the 190E 2.5-16v. Improved with the C43, but that's not pictured here. Changing back to a V6 with the C32 then back again to a V8 with the C55 proves AMG really doesn't get sports cars. GT's, cruisers, perhaps, but nothing truly sporty.

Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG 2001

Case in point....

Mercedes-Benz R63 AMG 2006

...and again....

Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG 2002

...and again....

Mercedes-Benz SLS 2011

...well, maybe not this one. Of the two guys in the photo, one owns the silver car, and the other owns the red one (see below)

[Attack of the Cobra's!]

Shelby Cobra 427 1966

Doesn't feel replica-ish to me.

Shelby Cobra 427 1967

This one's probably a replica.

[/Attack of the Cobra's!]

Tesla Roadster

A perfect counter-point to everything above. Not that I agree with it, mind you.

both are replicas, but the red one is horrid, haha

On the other hand, nice post Tuttle, the Charger takes the game though.

F40!!! Driving on the highway!!! Haha what a great day. And great week! Seen a share of 3 Audi R8's and two F430 Scuderias in the past 3 days! Unfortunately all while driving so no pics! Grr!

Saturday morning and a couple from the evening.

that reminds me, I saw my first V35 Skyline based Infiniti G yesterday. it was behind me in traffic. boy, they're smaller than I thought.

Rue, my fellow, what an awesome post!!! I don't know where to start, every car seems awesome. The picture of the Maserati is astounding and the R32 with the "Nismo" plate is awesome. Lots and lots of interesting tuned cars. That white Mini is freaking cool! And, is that a Thriumph Stag?

Can I haz big?

I like those wheels on the F40.

Just on a side note, I saw a Chevy Volt yesterday without M plates, just normal plates. And this morning I saw 5 Fiat 500s in a row, already bored of them.

Yesterday afternoon and last night...

Eep, forgot this Batmobile...

Honda Civic Si Mugen 2006

I have my doubts about this one. The wheels are wrong, although that was the most common part stolen off these. The rest looks right, though.

Might just have a different set of wheels for this time of the year or something. Everything else looks correct. I'm really not sure you can get the bodykit anywhere except through Honda, and you need a Mugen VIN number to order any Mugen Si parts.

That'd be a 2008, by the way.

Yea, I think they're like dealer plates or something. They cost less or something compared to the normal plates. I'm sure Rue can clear up everything, but I remember him or Dac saying that once.

On a side note, I'm going to Canada tomorrow for a few days so hopefully our hat will provide some good spots. Although I'm not really counting on it.

Temporary dealer plates for unregistered cars. Only allowed to use them when driving to point of sale and you must be a registered dealer to have them. The police are very strict on their usage. The main point in being that cars that have been imported to HK wear them before the owner pays the First Registration Tax. Being that the FRT on cars over about $50K is 100% (this is why cars are so expensive here) then you can see the amount of lost revenue the government stands to lose. If you can't justify having the plates on then the car gets impounded and you face a huge fine and revocation of your license (IIRC). The other time you'll see T-plates is on LHD drive cars which are not allowed to be registered for HK roads. Hope this clears things up.

You can get it anywhere someone is willing to sell the parts they stole from an original. It is probably the fastest-stolen Civic ever, with many being stolen or parted-out right in the dealer lot. There was only ever one set of wheels with the Mugen Si.

Not stolen (yet):

Before I get on with today's theme, I have some American muscle to take care of.

Chevrolet El Camino 1987

Slightly better pictures of that drive-by at some garage from last week.

<unknown #1> - Ford Fairlaine 1961 (thanks to Cano)

I'm guessing Dodge Valiant.

<unknown #2>

I know what this is, I just can't place it without the grill. It's a restomod, so it's no big deal, but I simply can not remember what this is. A '67 GTO?

Pontiac Catalina 1968

A heap, but a loved, cared for, and all-original heap. Shiny hubcaps, though.

And now on to our theme...which should be glaringly obvious.

Vauxhall 1928

I cruise through this town because while it's a small town it is exceedingly wealthy. Gems like this and the SLS/Cobra pair come up on a regular basis. I had given up on today figuring that while it's gorgeous out now, the rainy morning probably scared most people off. A Vauxhall from 1928. I had no idea they were ever even sold here, but this one's far superior to any Vauxhall I'm familiar with.

Datsun 1600 Fairlady 1969

From what is quickly becoming my favorite spot. It's a one-at-a-time site, but this location is becoming my 'old faithful'.

Morris Minor 1000 1960

On its way out to...somewhere. From the side, I mistook it for a Beetle ragtop. How mistaken I was.

BMW 635CSi

The cleanest, whitest 635CSi I've ever seen.

Fiat 124

Another Fiat with no rust. What is this world coming to?

Jaguar XJ-S Convertible

I've seen so many Jaguars from this era that are amazingly neglected, you'd never have known how expensive they were back then. Dull paint jobs, dents, broken antennas...seeing this in mint condition is like a flashback to the 80's.

Mazda Miata Mazdaspeed

I briefly considered this when shopping for a Miata, but have given up. It's not as pure as the standard car, and a Jackson Racing supercharger makes more sense and probably costs less to maintain.

Audi S5 Cabriolet

The first time a 'S' model has a different engine between variants. No sense on why.

Cadillac CTS-V Coupe

It fits the theme...sort of. Kinda. Okay, not really, but while it's ugly, it's still cool.

Porsche 911 SC 1989

Whale tail for the win.

Factory Five GT-M

My girlfriend actually saw this before I did (to be fair, it was dark and I was paying attention to the traffic light right in front of me) and I'm glad she did. It took four passes of being stuck in trafficked red lights before I could get decent shots of it. I actually couldn't tell what it was until the car behind it pulled out and I jumped into that spot. Kind of a neat way to re-use your wrecked Corvette.

Volkswagen Gandini

...and Amédée Gordini was at the game!

I fell.

Pretty cool post Tuttle. The Vauxhall is pretty amazing, boattail too!!! I think you really scored a pretty damn rare car -yet AGAIN. Also, the Datsun. It is pristine.

Your first unknown is a 1961 Ford Fairlane. Unknown 2 is right, but it may be a Le Mans. And that CSi is amazing.

Thanks on the Fairlane; updated & credited. 👍 Given that there's a modern crate-looking motor in there along with modern Cragar-alike wheels, it's probably an old Le Mans made up to be a restomod GTO. Should be a nice ride when it's all done.

The Vauxhall was just mint. I can't imagine what people fuel those cars with these days. How do they get around the previous requirements for leaded fuel? The exhaust was bad to breathe but strangely satisfying to know someone loved the car enough to both care for it and drive it.

You know Rue, the different/new font and the raised lettering on some of the HK plates are really throwing me off.
