I'm sure there is a 1:40 in the Fiesta, I just can't put a whole lap together.

New best: 1:41.275 - Ford Fiesta Open

 That really sucks though.

And I never had the time to set any more fast laps which is a bit of a pain. I actually really like Buttermilk Decent, but now there's a new event up and ready as of now.

Man, I suck at this section!!!!

I just did a quick run and got 1:38.052 in a Tacoma. I lead the WR up to the exit of the last hairpin, then suddenly their car appears on the other side of the bridge. WTF?!?

My time is 3138 in ranking. I gotta be doing something very wrong :(

Edit: Got the last S much better and a couple of line clean ups. This is now 565 on the record list. Still al long way off though. 1:36.649 - Toyota Tacoma

Btw you didn't update our times for last week, Gregory.

If my browser and net connection hadn't been playing up earlier on, then I would have changed those times for the previous event (as I've been trying to do for the past 2 hours). ;)

Thanks for the reminder anyway, plus I've only tested this stage out with the Quattro S1 today. I didn't set any time with it that can be considered "competitive" though.

I'll set my time and not post it until like the last minute. Don't need pilmat ruining my day next week. :grumpy:

You can post on Wednesday evening as I'm leaving for a race at Mt. Tremblant in the late afternoon :) Not sure if I can even have another good run before that!

Actually, I'm very interested to see what you guys come up with for times as I'm still baffled by the WR time. I followed it on one run and just after the last hairpin, it disappears and re-appears on the other side of the bridge going full speed! And as you follow the ghost, it makes quite a few little mistakes :odd:

I'd call you out on that, but I don't have the game anymore. I know they cheated in multiplayer.

Anyway, task at hand. I just finished career mode for the third time, so it was easy enough to remember my lines....and I'm still slow.

Tried the 405, still don't like it, but...

Toyota Tacoma- 1:35.496

That's my best, I can do no more without cheating or destroying the car.

Toyota Tacoma - 1'35.733

Frustraiting. Thats as good as I'll get it, any more and I'll just crash the damn thing.

I don't know about police chases, but there was only 1 or 2 races you could cheat on in races. Everything else was entirely skill. I know this because I'm a top racer in that game. No dirty racer beats me because it doesn't suffice like other games.

Toyota Tacoma - 1:35.868

It's going be be tough to get the last few corners right, which is where I'm having most difficulty at the moment. I can try and get in the best gear to nail the hairpin, and take the last kink as smooth as possible.

Good to know. This shouldn't be too hard with the Tacoma. I'm aiming for 1:33 and will be doing this tonight.

edit:1:33.700 Tacoma... like I promised.
If anyone need help shaving off their time, please let me know.

You basically need to have a knack for knowing (or feeling) whether or not you're going through a turn as fast as you think or feel you could be.

For instance, on the very beginning U-turn, I used to think drifting through that would be relativity quick, but then I tried gripping through it and that was even faster. Then I tried cutting through the grass in hopes I would shave even more time off, but it turns out there's a drop on the terrain which leaves me airborne and bouncing so that wasn't a good idea.

When I hear the car drop in power through a turn, or if it's just redlining through it, I instantly feel like that turn could have been taken much faster and then I try different braking times, different lines, until I find one I feel is best.

You know that 1st right turn you take? At first I stayed on the dirt because if I touched the apex of that road, the car hits a bump and loses control. Well, I tried cutting in the grass between that bump and the tree and realized I could hold a much higher speed through that passage until the upcoming left turn if I went with this.

Also, don't slide your car excessively. If you aren't and still can't match my time, then you must be braking more than you need to for certain turns. Makes sense, no?

1:34.535 - Toyota Tacoma

My 2 cents:
The the key to the stage is corner exit. It is crucial that the car is not sliding excessively at the very exit of the corner (or really from apex all the way off). If it is too sideways on exit, it will not pull well down the next chute. Modulate properly on corner entry and set up the car well at the apex.

Last week's course rewarded mid corner speed, this week it's all about the attitude at mid corner to exit.

Are you referring to the long right-hander at the end of the first sector? If so, then I honestly don't know what "bump", or area of grass you can cut onto you're talking about. I can't see any way of taking advantage on that turn.

He means the first real right after the first fast section, just before the first split markers. If you take a normal racing line and just clip the apex of the dirt road with the right front wheel, it throw you into the air. But if you put all 4 wheels inside of this, between the tree and the road, you can carry a lot of speed through the corner. There are a couple of apex in this course that have little hidden traps!

Pilmat's got it. I've tried cutting between the logs and the outfield after the mentioned section, but it's too bumpy that I lost speed... so don't try it, you guys. ;)

At the beginning of said fast section, just after the U-turn at the beginning, there's a short but wide right turn, you can ride a bit on the grass here.

If you want to shave off a LOT of time, on the left turn followed up by a right turn, the section that comes after the one sharp left turn after the first split marker, cut into the grass on the left turn, don't go deep as there's a bump there, but also, you won't need to brake. Before entering the turn, let your go slow down a bit by letting off the gas, turn in, and then floor it to keep it going, but don't do it too early or else you'll drive your cars into the ruts on the right. What you want after this is your car to be oversteering through the entire right turn; not letting it slide out, but keeping it in beside the rut at all times. I've tried riding the rut (thanks Initial D), but this car will bounce out of it due to its lower ride height.

I would try and improve my time by taking AOS' advice, but I'm away from my PS3 until Friday afternoon so I won't have time. :(

Know the feeling! I'm now away till Monday...

You don't need to beat yourself for it. I used to suck at this game as well, but then I've been slowly improving by paying close attention to even the minute things I do and correcting them over and over with each restart. I've been doing that in NFS Hot Pursuit and that was a really PITA because there was traffic to keep an eye out for as well stupidly long loading times when restarting. This is why I enjoy playing EOTW for Dirt more since the courses are relatively shorter and restarting requires no time at all.
