dirt 3 online

I've had more than one race where I've been pushing my luck with some of the lines I'm taking, only to realise that I never had flashbacks to recover from mistakes that I might have made.

I've been using Flashbacks quite a bit offline, been getting the first rallies won on level 6 earlier. Good fun, but the Finnish stage with the gulleys just off the racing line is hell.

Online should be more punishing for mistakes, sounds like it works well, still not gone online yet. Hopefully will tonight.

Game says I've used over 700 Flashbacks (Kind of big if you ask me).. I said to myself to not rely on flashbacks, but I couldn't be bothered enough to restart a run every time I screwed up, usually because what I had going before was good so I didn't want it to go to waste... I've probably used well over 50 flashbacks upon entering donuts.

700 doesn't seem right tbh but that's what I keep remembering as I was in shock and awe when I saw such a huge number myself. I'll have to confirm this later today!

I never use flashbacks. Most of the time I just restart the race. I've maybe used a dozen so far.

Anyway, online sucks because people don't back off once you take their line while passing. If you dive inside, for example, they just keep on going on their way and they spin you.

Does anyone know how long it takes to change your online rating? I'm currently stuck on yellow, but I'd like it to be green and maybe platinum. How many clean races does it take?

That's why you do point-to-point races - they use ghosts.

Well, I did 1 Landrush race and after numerous accidents I ended up with a yellow rating. It didn't take long to change my rating back to green (2 rallycross races), I tried to avoid as much contact with other racers as possible but I still managed to win. As for platinum, I'm guessing that you need about 5, maybe even 10 relatively clean races before you can get it, but I'm not sure.

See, the solution is simple.... In Dirt 2, you could not do Jam Sessions and get exp. "Fans", BUT in Dirt 3 you get all of that in Jam Sessions now, so there is almost zero reason to even bother with Pro Tour. I hate the ghosts on point-to-point, so if you want to do rally, defiantly go to Jam Session as it has Staggered Starts.

I'm pretty sure fan payouts are higher in the Pro Tour than in Jam Sessions.

QFT, double infact when compared to the same race ran in a Jam Session including bonuses as they're calculated on a % relating to your impact rating. I'm not sure how the objectives are affected though if at all.

On the subject of your % bonus, it's worth getting a good impact rating (white hexagon) as soon as by either hosting your own event or joining one in Jam Session. If you wanna be safe make it rallying with impact rating on and just don't crash and within 5-10 races you should be good. This earns you 20% instead of the standard 10% you start off with if you have a green rating. The earlier you do it the more XP you'll get from it in the long run and it will be a noticeable gain in the end.

I've been doing mostly point to point and am now trying hardcore. So far hardcore has been pretty fun and I like the fact you can't reset lol.

Well, I'm up to Fanbase level 29 at the moment, so it's not really that big of an issue. Though I have noticed that the amount of experience required to level up online increases almost exponentially from about level 25 up.

All this time i thought that Cat n Mouse was a Gymkhana event  so I gave it a try today. Super hilarious mode. It was 3v3 and i was a cat. It was so funny because my other teammate and I just bashed that mini left and right to the point that he/she couldn't even finish their 4th lap. In the 2nd round, the guys tried to do the same thing at the start by reversing into me... yeah not going to work a second time, buddy. At one point he headed atraight into the tire barricade and i stopped behind him, lifting up his rear end so he as stuck until a partner saved him. On the 3rd round, i was the
mouse. The other cars couldn't keep up as I would dodge their attacks. Made it to the finish line without gettin into a huge mess[

Yeah I've been doing all point-to-point. I think this is most fun out of any online racing I've done 👍

I hate getting wrecked. I'm pretty slow and noobish so any bump from another noob or dirty racer will ruin me totally. So thats why I adore these ghosts. Just need to improve my skills now

will try some gymkhana and cat & mouse too when I get a chance

The problem with Cat 'n' Mouse happens when you get unbalanced teams. I was in a race with five players the other day; one team had three cars and the other, two. I was in the two-car team, driving the Mini. The race was pretty much over as soon as the lights went green - one of the other team stayed with their Mini, while the other driver stayed with me. I ended up finishing two laps down. I have no idea where my team-mate was and what he was going, but he ended up being the first car across the line. It was so bad that I just gave up and let the timer run out.

As above, however in a proper 4v4 game it is so hilarious. I was put to tears a game of it with Aldo, particularly after we won and I decided to turn around charge at the mini then hand brake infront of it at 100+mph my way and completely decimate the poor thing. Aldo was following the mini at the time and got the best seat in the house for the most epic and perfect take out so far in our Dirt 3 dealings.

You know what's worse? When you have a 2v2 Cat n Mouse going. If your opponent's Cat isn't anywhere near or is totally driving-incompetent, catch up the the mini, knock' em or P.I.T them, or whatever it takes to get their rear or front perpendicular to the wall. Block the other end of them... Stuck FOREVER! *evil laguh*

I dont get the cat n mouse game, what are Mini suppost to do and what are Audis suppost to do?

I mostly enjoy online rallycross (its brutal but can be fun) and also really like the outbreak mode when playing with friends that have mic

I didn't get it at first, but I read the rules and noticed that the 2 minis were way up ahead. I understood it pretty quickly after that. The goal in Cat n Mouse is to have the mouse on your team (the mini) win the race. This obviously means your mouse has to cross the finish line before the other mouse does.

You can choose your style of play, either offense or defense. You can choose to either hinder the other mouse, or you can defend your own. Playing offense is totally fun if your mouse is way up ahead. Can't say how fun it is being a bodyguard though... when I was the mouse, I had a partner covering me about 10 feet away, keeping the enemy cats away.

Yay, I got my green dot back! I have no idea how I did it - I spent most of yesterday driving cautiously, and when nothing happened in ten races (other than repeatedly being beaten by a guy at Fanbase lvl. 8 because of it), I gave up and went hell for leather. Then I somehow got it back after placing second in a Trailblazer despite a mistake that damaged my car and cost me first place, lost it again after some idiot forced me into the barriers at Monaco to pass me, and then got it back in the very next race when the same idiot spun me around to get a place back (that he then lost on the next lap when he drove over the edge of the track).

The Mini is a "mouse". The Audi/Ford/Metro 6R4 is a "cat". The idea is not to be the first person across the line, but to be the first team to get your Mini across the line. The Audi/Ford/Metro can either defend their Mini, or attack the opposing teams' Minis.

So I was racing a guy online just now who was acting like a total something-that-will-be-blocked-by-the-swear-filter-(use-your-imagination). Every time he didn't win a race, he was full of abuse about how someone crashed into him and robbed him of victory, even when we were doing rallies and we were all ghosts to one another. Most of the time, he managed to do it all on his own; he spun in front of me in a rallycross race in LA, and I unfortuantely had nowhere to go but into him. But from what I saw, he did more damage than he took. Nevertheless, it was everyone else's fault.

Is it wrong that I took such glee out of beating him?

Yay, I made it to Fanbase level 35! The superstar rating and accompanying achievement are all mine. Plus, I beat some of the higher-rated players that I've never been able to beat before ...

I recently hit 35 myself and picked up my platinum with it, I managed to meet a level 50 at one point with some outrageous number of races that I was happy to beat everytime we raced . I'm guessing 50 is the max at this point, that guy was truly dedicated to this game and yet wasn't actually that good (though certainly no slouch!).
