I've been playing it with a Dualshock 3 and its been a blast. Although it is more difficult to pull off those handbrake turns depending on your bindings.Been considering this game for some time.... Think it's worth it when all I have is a Xbox 360 and Xbox One controller?
Coming to consoles on 5/4/16!

Been considering this game for some time.... Think it's worth it when all I have is a Xbox 360 and Xbox One controller?
I used to try and play rally games using the button next to my thumb and I did not like it on the part I am clumsy. On ps4 since the THA8 cannot use analogue mode or be mapped separately from the flappy paddles when it is in sequential mode, I can't do what I used to do with my DFGT on ps3 (use the paddles to shift and the sequential stick as the handbrake).
I already have a few different plans for the handbrake -
First would be to actually run a cable (like a bicycle brake cable) from a leaver that would press the L3 or R3 button on my T300 base. I got the idea from this guy's video this would allow me to not void my warranty, keep my clutch for classic h pattern rally cars, and use my TH8a in both sequential and h pattern mode.
The other option would be to use the TH8a in H pattern mode and map 4th gear as the handbrake. For this I would need to create a way to stop the shifter from going forward into 3rd and use bungie cords or rubber bands to pull it out of 4th. Would have to use the flappy paddles to shift though.
The issue with the current pikes peak cars was they designed and built for an all dirt hill climb not part tarmac so there awsome on dirt and horrible elsewhere. In my career mode, choosing a Pikes Peak car. Instead of picking the Audi or the 405. I picked the 205 Pikes Peak... Yes im mad, and i regret that choice.
But thanks to this update and the ability to share car setups to Steam Workshop. Found one (the only one at the time) for my 205. Making it from a VERY nervous and unstable car, to making it more tolerable. No 100% better, but im acually making progress instead of getting stuck. Cheers Codemasters! 👍

If you install the driver, you can turn the gates 90 degrees, put it in analog mode, and use that as a handbrake.
So this is sorta like an early access version DiRT 4 then? Annoying it isn't going to be on consoles though.
I think Sweden is my new favorite rally. I'm stoked they did a good job with the snow banks, they are quite forgiving but if you really mess up they will bite.
Uh... You do realise that was posted and answered in April? Well not the console part, but im pretty sure he knows by now.Not Dirt 4, this is Dirt Rally (i.e. proper rally sim). It's coming to consoles in April next year
I wonder how well received this game will be on consoles. For the first one people might buy it just because of the Dirt name and they are not aware it's a hardcore sim, but if there will be a Dirt Rally 2 I fear it won't do that well and Codies might revert back to arcade style for DR3.

Interesting... On the one hand we know Codemasters can easily optimize for gamepad use, however doing so would require adding controller assists, which would give an uneven playing field between controller and wheel (rather like Forza).Yeah there were plenty of complaints when it launched on PC with people complaining that it was too hard without a wheel and too hard in general due to the removal of the rewind feature and things like that. I genuinely don't really enjoy playing it with a gamepad, it's just too difficult to make the tiny little steering inputs you need at high speed on the narrow roads. I would recommend anyone planning to buy without a wheel rents it first.
Codemasters have done their best to offer more sim-centric FFB settings. In reality it's not perfect, but the self-aligning torque and the road surface feel are very good. Definitely better than previous DiRT games, very useable if not up to Assetto Corsa type standards. How are the FFB settings? Usual Codemasters nonsense or they made proper ones for a change?
It most definitely is a very tough game with the gamepad, though I haven't been able to play the game all that much since I bought it on my brother's PC (since I lack a PC good enough to play it). I plan to buy a wheel for whatever platform I buy the game for in March. Probably Xbox One to go with Forza 6.Yeah there were plenty of complaints when it launched on PC with people complaining that it was too hard without a wheel and too hard in general due to the removal of the rewind feature and things like that. It's not an easy one to call, is it
