DiRT Rally Thread

I have the Lancer. Very disappointed, because my dad used to rally Lancers in the 1970s. The Evo X feels like it won't slow down in time, and I need to brake about twenty metres earlier than I normally would.
I used the lancer in professional career and I really liked it. Came 2nd overall but only managed 1 rally victory.

That sounds familiar, actually. That's annoying. I guess I'll just have to keep at it until my 206 is fully upgraded, if that's the case.

On another note, I'd love to get some ice racing like the Andros Trophy in this game. If Rallycross is anything to go by, it'd be a hell of a lot of fun.

Does anybody know if this game will be getting any DLC? I'm not complaining about the amount or quality of the roster available, but i'd just love to get my hands on/experience the 1972 Fairlady 240Z rally car.

I hope to join the fun in a couple of weeks. Motion-sickness or not, this game is simply to good to not play :D Thank you GTP for the utterly positive feedback on the game  and thanks for making me soon feel sick again in a rally car :ill:

Anyone else think the Dyfrron Afon stage in Wales is the best in the game? Such a fast, exhilarating drive, high speed jumps where you are truly inches away from disaster.

I just got a very good 2nd in the Welsh rally on professional - basically from being consistent. I like how its not the same guy in the lead all the time...the guy who won in Greece had a monumental fail on one of the Welsh stages and finished in 9th overall.

I think it's the worst

Wow, the snow banks in Sweden is really unforgiving, didn't really help I that I struggled too find a good setup either. This game is so damn amazing, everytime I make a mistake, I understand right away what I did wrong, it just feels right.

Never really bin a fan of tuning, but in this game I always try too make the car a little better before each race, almost feel like I am a rally driver  and I will hold on too that illusion as long as possible :D

What's the trick to a good start in Rallycross (specifically the 1600 class at the moment)? It seems that no matter what I do, the AI get a much better launch off the line than me. I'm using launch control, which is apparently slower, I did try without but as far as I could tell there was no difference. I've also tried revving at various different ranges and not revving at all. It's getting to the stage that it's a deciding factor in most of my races.

I've found that flooring it off the line, letting off a tiny bit as soon as you launch (not all the way, I'm pretty sure I stalled once doing that), and then flooring it again really works. If you time it right, it's almost as if you get some kind of boost and you'll get to the corner first. I've only ever done this in the Clio though, so I'm not sure if it works for other cars.

Was 4th overall in a league I entered going into the 4th event. Then flew off the side of the mtn in Greece and ended up with a DNF.

Really like the difficulty this game offers. Just motivates me to keep playing and get better.

I felt as though I was winning at life in my Lancia Delta Integrale last night, whilst driving in Sweden. I was able to win 3 stages and that's a big achievement for me because my other attempts were shocking. I think it was the setup I had on the car which allowed me to something I didn't think was possible.

Just wait until you try Sweden's finest tracks in a suicidal RWD 70s car...

I like Bromfelen myself. It's up there with Route de Turini and Frauenberg as my favourite. I also like the one in Greece where you cross the valley (but not the extended version with all the hairpins.

I think it's the worst
My least favourites would be Pant Mawr and the one in Greece with all the hairpins.

I have tried multiple races with each of it's classes but I cannot take to RallyCross. I am rubbish which doesn't help but besides that there is no desire to improve either.

Some cool cars though in those classes that I hope to try on regular special stages some day. Eh Codemasters..?

They're all pretty tame. It's the RWD Group B machines that are terrifying - but even they can be mastered with the set-up. Just loosen the rear differential.
Indeed, it wasn't really the tracks but the RWD cars in that combination which I meant.

Loosening the differential, shortening the gear ratio and short shifting etc., all are understood and fine, except the part where they don't try to kill me at every opportunity ;)

In truth, I took the Escort through Wales, Greece and Monte Carlo at Clubman level without too much pain, that is until it became fully upgraded and went from warp one to ten at the slightest bit of a acceleration, even with the gears set to short. Now therein probably lies my problem, as I really haven't had much success with tuning in the past, like I said in the set-ups thread.

Its weird people arnt liking some Wales and Greece stages...for me they are the best and most realistic locations in the game...imo Sweden and Finland is very similar and repetitive in its landscape...no vistas at all.

Sorry to take up some space here.Anyone know after using the T300RS settingprovided by the game itself,do you still have to reduce the degree of rotation of the wheel to 540° to get a better simulation experience?I'm planning to buy the wheel next week for this game, but there're still so many things I have no clue with:P

So, I just finished Elite... Heading into my final event at Germany I was 4 points behind L.Beattie in 2nd...after my most flawless overall event to date I managed to win my first ever title! :D
