DiRT Rally Thread

Sigh, this is probably the worst issue I've come across in a racing game for a while. It's totally deflated me in regard to how I feel about the game - The dailies and monthlies are all I like to play and I don't want to go back to a controller having just got my T150. :(

There's a trusthmaster wheels workaround posted in the game forums that seems to work and makes at least the game playable again till we keep waiting the fix update.
Here it goes:

"The patch appears to have locked the DOR at 360 which is a lot less than the default for the wheel, to remedy this you have to press and release at the same time (on the wheel) the "look right" button and the button next to the mode light - the mode light should then flash once, repeat this and it should flash twice. Now go to the advanced wheel settings in the game and check that steering sensitivity is 100. Steering linearity is 0. Steering dead zone is 0. Steering saturation is 100. This should make the game driveable again for you "

Codemasters finished the fix and send it to Sony, now it have to pass the certification...

That was posted in the game forums :

Hi all, just to keep you updated: we now have a fix. We'll be looking to get this approved and out in days, rather than weeks - so again, once a date has been locked down, I'll be back here to let you all know. It shouldn't be long until I have this info, so stay tuned.

The update seems to have fixed the wheel issue!
Although it did feel weird until I turned soft lock off and then back on again, works fine now:lol:. I don't really understand how they could break it in a patch but anyway, good news.

I'm liking the updated Hill climb cars, they feel like they have some downforce now. Also it feels like the tarmac physics on all cars have been changed a bit, they don't seem to slide around as much.

I hope they release some more locations for this game, needs more gravel rallies.

anyone here having problems with not being able to connect to racenet, the site does not show any events either so I assume they are working on it. I'm on Xbox just wondering if anyone else is having a issue,Thanks.

It gives me an error every time I go on the website and it wasn't working in game earlier (on PS4).

We need some really loose dirt or something like Sardenia or something like Argentina with tons of rocks.

PS. I think that's Hayden in your Avatar. Favorite Rally driver 👍

Same. It's completely dead and the monthly ends in 4 days.

Yea I have 6 stages left to run, the monthly is about all I've had time to concentrate on lately. Be a dam shame if I can't finish it. Thanks for the replies guys.

Yes, race net has been down for two days for me. End of month is nearing and I have the monthly event to finish up. I'd sure like a fix for this as well.

So Dirt Rally has piqued my interest. I have never owned a rally game ever and am seriously considering a purchase. I would like to know how steep the learning curve is and can it be enjoyed on the ds4 as well?
I do own a G29 but also enjoy just picking up the ds4 and having a quick gaming session now and then.

Rally driving technique is very different from race cars. As long as you are happy with crashing into every tree for a while during the learning curve it'll be fine. :)

It is perfectly playable with the DS4. I picked it up in no time, but then again I've almost always exclusively played racing games with controllers since...forever. I'm using the default settings with the exception for the deadzone which I set to 5.

The learning curve is high or low depending on how familiar you're with rally driving thechniques. For me, it only consisted of getting to know the stages themselves and how certain cars reacted to my inputs on the different surfaces.

Thanks. Game ordered. I will receive it during the coming week. I purchased it online as I got the Legend edition at the same current price of the normal edition.
Looking forward to learning the art of rally style driving.

@Kamuifanboy Olaying this game for fun Shinya or is a prelude to a career change? :P

As much as I would love to try rally, I'd be flying off a cliff after corner 2 or 3 hahaha. Extreme respect for all those guys, have no idea how they do it. Mostly for fun, myself pretending I'm as good as some of my childhood heroes like Tomi, Loeb and more recently Hayden :)

timing it with the real life event, ... nice

they still have 65 minutes to get it up and running, before the green flag drops IRL

How come that Pikes Peak on gravel is extremely off time wise? Vatanen 's record with the 405 T16 was 10:47:220 and I run 90 seconds faster than him. The car performance according to game and rl seem similar. Is the car faster than it should or is the layout with its distance not correct ingame?

Now they have anounced a Pikes Peak special event, but Racenet is still down for most people. Get a clue CM!
I asked them to extend the event but got no response yesterday. They've just an hour ago announced (on Twitter) that they're doing a re-run of the Special Event and it starts 2PM GMT, presumably due to the RaceNet issues over the weekend.

:)

Very frustrating that the Racenet goes down on the weekend, the one time out of the week I can even play. Was looking forward to wrapping up the monthly event.

Evidently they weren't going to get to it until Monday morning when the staff came in and hit the reset button. I ended up losing the more lucrative of the two weekly events because there was no way to complete the final couple stages.

@mr_VOLCANO I did see you ran an impressive 8.28 on pikes peak gravel version. Can you tell if that is done with the stock car or the car with the 5 improvements installed? Did you make changes to the setup as well?
