i agree with you, it is the best of all racing games. but with all the time they gave themselves, all of the release date changes, they should have fixed some of the ai and other things

Exactly, plus drag racing would get very boring, very fast. Also, who really cares about crappy cars like Cavaliers? There's absolutely nothing interesting or exciting about them and they look dopey.

Well for that matter, who cares about crappy civics, or a friggin dodge ram.... or any econo box turd car that's featured in the game?.... there in there cause poeple drive them.... I'm not sayin that a cavalier should or shouldnt be in the game... but thats a crude statment you made...IMO

The only real gripes i have are the fact that theres no real online play , and that the AI is still pretty sad....
oh and that damn screen shake at the begining of some races...lol

You actually can race your buddies in your custom cars... but you'll have to to find out how... :dopey:

yeah i cant find it. can someone just tell me how? tell me the link to a thread that disscusses it or something. because i think thats the worst part of the game.

anyways, the only reason why i mentioned the cavalier is because im a pround owner of a 1999 Z24 (standard). all my other friends have there cars in the game except me... and whats so bad about the cavalier? 150hp, 152ft-tq. ok so its not a supra or a skyline but its like america's type R.

race others in your own cars?! ooh do tell :dopey:

i wouldnt say gt4 was dissapointing, i didnt find it particularly fun and it seemed like a chore but its a good game tho :indiff:

I don't think the Ford-Cosworth partership exists anymore, infact I'm not sure if Cosworth still exists at all now.

Ford would be more interested in the Focus RS and other current models I'd imagine. Not that GT4 has many anyway...

I believe Cosworth still exists. I am sure that they will be powering Williams F1 next season, which is a good indication that they are still around. On the other hand, considering F1 is going to compulsory V8s soon, perhaps Frank simply swapped Heidfeld for a truckload of old DFVs... bargain!

Cosworth is still going, apparantly with a pretty good v8. I dont think they are owned by ford any more though.

I'd say I'm certainly not disappointed in the gameplay and the feel of the game and cars. Music doesn't matter to me because I listen to my own. The thing I am most certainly disappointed in are the graphics. It's horrible to see an over-age PS2 pushing very hard to put the terrible graphics of GT4 on the screen. If this was a PC game it would have been horribly received because of the poor graphics. Even a PC of 2 years old can conjure up GT4 photo-mode graphics in realtime. Move on quickly to the PS3, Sony!

Sometimes I think about things I wish were in GT4, or things that GT1, 2, or 3 did better and I could say I was disappointed - but then I think of the nurburgring, Fuji 90's, LeMans with and without the chicanes, the Chapparal 2D, Audi R8's, being able to put TVR Cerbera wheels on a 300Z - I gotta get back to my DS2!

if you peeps dont like the game why play it?
if you arent playing it then what the hell are you doing here bringing the tone down?

if you dont like the game but you are playing it still and coming here you oughta get your head read! :P

i don't like the game, but everytime someone tells me "Oh the physics are great" or something else..

I pop it in, just so I can refresh my memory to how huge a jackazz they are because they're simply stuck on GT physics...

People say the cars dont feel right on other games....
it's because, it's OTHER GAMES...

The GT game itself hasn't really changed that much in 4 installments...Even less so over the pas 2....

So in the past 5+ years you've been driving ONE style of driving, there's no doubt there's going to be some conflict in interest if you try something else.

Trick is....Try taking a break from a game so you lose your habits, then try something else..
It'll give you a much better outlook.

hullo driftster sir,
are you really telling me the only reason you use this forum at all is to tell people that are happy with the game that the physics suck?

do you play anything else? maybe you should find a forum for that, or get another hobby...

i like the new cars and track bu the physics really dissapointed me. i like GT3's driving much better. In gt4 you cant steer with the throttle. atleast i dont think you can. havent played it in months. to busy swaping engines and driving my ferraris in Forza. dont shoot...

ving
thats a good thing Lenjia!
you dont have to fight her for the game then :P

my feelings EXACTLY. if i don't get home from work first, my fiancee will be on there messing around with corvettes all night :yuck:

Hey ving, thank you for being the GT4 advocate and everything.

I'm sure PD is paying you handsomly to back there game with such tenacity, but this is a public forum if you didn't notice.

And this thread is titled "Dissappointed in GT4"

It seems like YOU'RE the one using this forum for the wrong reasons.

If you've got something against people NOT liking a game you like, take YOUR argument elsewhere.
Don't badger people for having an opinion.

Thanks tons! :)👍

People complaining about the physics? I find the physics to be the most accurate part of the game (aside from a few lateral vs. straightline grip issues)! Oh, and I have played plenty of other games and find them to be ridiculously easy and unrealistic. Having driven real life cars in ways they're not designed to be driven, and having driven them the same way in GT4, the physics model seems very accurate to me. I remember the first time my GTO in the game snapped back on me when I tried to slide it around a corner. I said "holy crap! What was that!?" Then I realized that my car in real life does exactly the same thing. If all the GT games had GT4's physics it would've saved me a couple dents on my car, and would've saved at least one fence's life. And if you say that the physics model hasn't changed much throughout the games you obviously haven't played them much. If anything GT4 is the most changed of them all! GT1-GT2 had barely any change, GT2-GT3 had a rather large change (a lot more understeer mainly), and GT4 had the largest change as cars react MUCH more realistically now.

Oh, and the graphics are amazing in my opinion, check out the Photomode section of the forum if you don't believe me, and look at some of Franz or S12ken's shots. Of course PCs can produce better graphics, but I'm pretty sure a more than 5 years old couldn't. I can't wait for the PS3 though...

I love this game!

Nigal, I agree with most of your points... and I am also part of the "club" that gets flamed because he liked GT3 better.

I like GT4 a lot, but it has enough "bad or lazy design choices" (like the lame prizes you mention) that it sometimes gets annoying. I played GT3 3 times over but I can't see myself doing the same for GT4. The sad thing is that GT4 is the only PS/2 game that I paid more than $20 for it... mostly because of how much I liked GT3. I doubt I will do it for GT5... I'll probably rent it first to see if PD fixed the screwups.

<puts on helmet and armor, and awaits the inevitable flame> :nervous:

(then again, this is GT Planet, so probably the flames will be kind) :)

I said "holy crap! What was that!?" Then I realized that my car in real life does exactly the same thing.

I felt that the understeer in my RL car was unrealistic in the game at first, then I started paying attention to the way it drove in real-life... no difference. Same amount of push, a little more snap oversteer (but then I've got the US-tuned suspension)... still drives the same, slow as a turtle, but turns like a champ.

GTPlanet? Flaming, oh, come now... Actually, I did GT3 multiple times, too... but I think that has something to do with it being just a wee bit shorter...

you of course are right. the reason people come here is if they have the game and want to share thier opinions and ask for help...

of course if the only reason a person ever comes here is to bag the game physics out (as you said you do) then they are probably on the forums for the wrong reason.

if you are posting your opinion over and over for the sake of it then maybe I can help you find another outlet....

do you have an opinion on US politics?

As for cars.. i dunno if anyone can answer this for me but, why arent lambos or ferrari included in the gt series????[/QUOTE]

I think that is something to do with image rights: Ferrari and Porsche (don't know about Lambo) have their own games and wouldn't allow PD to compete. More fool them.

👎 Am I the only one who's disappointed with the engine noise? on rear engined cars you hear nothing, and Porsches sound great. If you get the full house gearbox, all you hear is gearbox whine.

👍 I thought the wind noise thing was great.

So its not my TV thats nackered, you dont here any engine noise is rear engine cars. Thats pretty lame...

I sometimes wonder about the ignorace of some gamers. It's probably to do with money, and perhaps P.D. not wanting to spend that much?

How else do you explain Ferrari and Porche being in Forza?

lol...lol...You know before she got her licenses, she tried to drive a few of the cars. I told her that it is pretty close to the real thing, she said that if this is like driving, then I will never get my licenses. Thats the only time hat I know that she has played the game.

yeah what crazy hobos do you talk to that think the physics suck?

most hardcore simmers can see obvious flaws in gt4's physics. I am not a broken record. use the search button or go to http://forum.rscnet.org/
and search for gt4. there are many more realistic games than gt4. but none with 700 cars. I doubt you've played any pc driving games to make a an unknowledgable comment like that.

Why do people on gtplanet enjoy saying the same thing over and over again? even sofar as to repeat what someone has said 1 post above theirs? its crazy... 👎

Settle down. We're talking about a game. Not your mom.
I am settled. I'm quite the calm person. I was just saying why I disagree with you and what my reasons behind it were. I tried to hit on major areas of complaint.

I didn't mean to come off harsh. I just find that most people complain about the things that KY has wanted GT to be from day one or the things that the die hard fans love the most.

The only complaints that almost everyone seems to have are glitches (which can be ignored), the music, and the AI. The rest are always up for debate.

Rumor has it that Ferrari wanted more in licensing fees than all other manufacturers combined! And RUF is better than Porsche.

You obviously don't have a SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM. Get one....it makes all the difference in the world.

Rally part of this game suck balls. I'm so dissapointed, I'm currently playing WRC and it feels so much better 👍

Yes, the engine noises are disappointing, that's probably my main complaint with the game. However! I can solve your RUF problem, as I had the exact same problem. Go into options, and change the sound from "stereo" to "mono", and viola! You can hear every car's exhaust better, and the gearbox isn't as overpowering. It was insane driving around the Nurburgring in the Yellowbird and not hearing my engine at all. Much better now :)
